Title: Boise ST. QB Kellen Moore?
Post by: Diehard_Dolfan on December 23, 2010, 12:07:42 am
Very accurate smart decision making QB...  watching him reminds me of Chad Pennington.

If he's there when we pick would like to see him playing for us or maybe a Ryan Mallett...

just throwing something out there what you guys think?

If he's in the draft, I'd take him in a second.

There are many problems with College QB's transitioning to the NFL, which makes all of them crapshoots.  For a couple examples, the speed in the NFL is much faster than college, takes time to adjust, some never make it.  The college game usually involves alot of QB option plays, which NFL teams don't want to subject their multi-million dollar player to, for fear of injury.  The teams with high draft picks usually stink, and drafting a QB #1 usually subjects the player to poor pass protection, and the losing mentality which they are not use to.  I can't see drafting a QB before the third round, and even them I'd want a QB that was a pocket passer in college.

I can agree with a lot of masterfins points...but I think if Kellen Moore declares for the NFL this year, he'll be a mid-late second rounder. If either SF or Miami still hasn't looked at a QB by that point, I'd be thrilled to see either of the teams I cheer for select him. I think his accuracy is pure gold, his decision-making is off the charts, and he reads defenses as well as most veteran NFL QBs...already. I believe there is a very good chance that he develops into a solid NFL QB, if he's given the type of support needed, from coaching to offensive playmaking weapons.

If Miami or SF goes after a QB in round one though...I want Ryan Mallett.

Easy on the "comparison by school" argument... I know a couple of highly touted QBs out of Notre Dame that had significantly different results in the pro game. Joe Montana...and Rick Mirer

That said, I'm trying to remember which former Boise State QB was "highly touted." Ryan Dinwiddie? Bush Hamdan? I'm only being semi-facetious here, because I don't think any QB they've had over the last 10 years or so is anywhere near Moore's talent level.

Ideal QB would probably be Andrew Luck!  He's been in a pro style offense and his coach (Harbaugh) has said he's thrown the book at him and luck handled it all!

Luck has the size to go with it as well... That's the only knock on Moore is his size and durability to handle the pro game.  I know we have no chance with luck though.... no pun intended. :'(

Stroke,I don't think we've got a second round pick this year, because of B.Marshall....So you candle is for the 49ers to draft him in the second... ;)

My question (I DON'T watch College football)
If you guy's are talking about this kid now, Is he the next Phillip rivers in this sense...The year Rivers and E.Manning, around this time, people wanted us to take Rivers projecting he'd probably be available at our spot...He ended up top 5? Is the same thing gonna happen with this kid?

Yeah, my 49ers two biggest needs (imo) is a lockdown corner and a QB who is actually an NFL QB. We could also use a monster D-lineman, but I think the other two are slightly bigger needs.  Assuming my 49ers pick somewhere between #5 and #8 this coming April, a "dream scenario" for me in the first two rounds would be:

Rd 1) CB Prince Amukamara (or, if either of the top 2 D-lineman (Bowers, Fairley) slide, no problema)
Rd 2) QB Kellen Moore

Imagining both Prince and Kellen in 49ers jerseys provides a most warm and fuzzy fan daydream...

You're right about no luck with Luck. He'll be gone by the third pick

Rd 1) CB Prince Amukamara

I can see it now.  "I will intercept that infidel QB's pass and return it for a TD in the name of Allah!!!"

And if he doesn't, he gets his walking papers...got it.

Not sure where this comment came from but with a name like Prince Amukamara, it just leaped out at me.  He sounds like one of the Saudi princes.

The only guy I can imagine he's referring to is Jared Zabransky (Fiesta Bowl MVP), who was so "highly touted" that he went undrafted.
