Title: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: MikeO on January 17, 2011, 08:55:34 pm Tonight on NFL Network's AROUND THE LEAGUE, Michael Lombardi had some comments on the Fins. Lombardi said the Dolphins want to install the New England Patriots style of offense with 5-WR looks and packages. That was the reasoning behind the Daboll hiring. He said Daboll comes from the Bill Belichick coaching tree and has alot of the same offensive ideas that Josh McDaniels has but he just did not have the talent in Cleveland to run it. Lombardi said that is why we hired Daboll because of his history with the Patriots.

The Brady thing though is unfortunately very true. Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: Sunstroke on January 18, 2011, 01:39:42 am I'm looking to install the Antonio Banderas appearance this season... Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: Tenshot13 on January 18, 2011, 09:40:52 am So does this mean we could be going after someone like Julio Jones instead of Mark Ingram in the first round?
Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: CF DolFan on January 18, 2011, 09:57:35 am I'm looking to install the Antonio Banderas appearance this season... The celebrity appearances might be the only thing to bring people to the games. We certainly aren't setting the fanbase on fire now are we? Maybe we should start a thread to see who people want to see and then we can pass the list along to Ross! I'm sure he would like that!! Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: Sunstroke on January 18, 2011, 10:11:42 am ^^^ Actually, CF, I was referring to a personal installation...nothing to do with the Dolphins there. I'd like to install the Antonio Banderas appearance, but the best I seem to be able to get is something close to Steve Buscemi. What team in the NFL DOESN'T want the Patriots' offense? Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: phinphan on January 18, 2011, 12:51:24 pm in other news, the sky is still blue. That was my thoughts exactly when I read the thread headline. hahahahaWhat team in the NFL DOESN'T want the Patriots' offense? Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: MikeO on January 18, 2011, 05:18:53 pm So does this mean we could be going after someone like Julio Jones instead of Mark Ingram in the first round? OMAR KELLY today on twitter tweeted a "RUMOR" saying Dez Bryant is on the block in Dallas. Cowboys sources saying he doesn't know the plays and is difficult to deal with. Ireland can now trade for Dez and be best buddies with him! lol Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: dolphaholic on January 19, 2011, 01:42:58 pm I read this "rumor" also Mike, if true Ireland gains some credibilty back in my book for passing on this guy. Time will tell if it's true or not.
Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: Pappy13 on January 19, 2011, 05:19:33 pm This is the first I've heard of it. Doesn't seem to be making any stories here in Dallas where you would think that if there was something brewing it would be all over the news.
I'm pretty sure that Dallas is extremely happy with Dez. They may wish he worked harder, but you can't fault the results. He was the Cowboys best weapon down the stretch last year returning punts and kickoffs and catching passes. No way they are getting rid of him. Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 19, 2011, 08:16:48 pm No need to try to trade for Bryant. Our receiving corps may be our strongest part of the team right now. Improve all of the other problem areas first. Getting a receiver does not improve QB play, Marshall just proved that.

Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: norad34 on January 19, 2011, 09:18:54 pm It doesn't matter what kind of offense look anyone give the Dolphins. They need speed at the WR position. Bess and Marshall are good short to intermediate receivers but Miami needs someone like Mike Wallace or Jacoby Ford to scare defenses with their speed. Same at the running back position. Here's hoping that Marlon Moore develops into their speed guy.

Our receiving corps may be our strongest part of the team right now. Improve all of the other problem areas first. Getting a receiver does not improve QB play, Marshall just proved that. It is NOT the strongest part of our team. But its also not the weakest either. Marshall was bad last year and not a legit #1 WR and this is a "what have you done for me lately" type of league. What he did in Denver is old news. Bess is what he is, a little slot guy. A very good one but a little slot guy nontheless. And after that we got marginal players at best with below average speed and guys who aren't able to break the game open and make a big play with their speed (or lack there of) Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on January 20, 2011, 01:09:47 pm .......or 5 decent receivers. Nor does NE. Do the Fins want to install the style of offense NEP played in 2007 or 2010? NE doesn't run the 5 wide formation anymore. More often it involves 2-3 TEs. Title: Re: Michael Lombardi: Fins want Pats offense Post by: BigDaddyFin on January 22, 2011, 03:43:14 pm Do not "want" anybody's offense. That's a sure sign you're going to get beat. We don't have the personell for NE's offense.
You barely have the personell for the 1990 Giants offense. Dear Michael Lombardi: Go shit in your hat. When I get motivated enough, I'll make some draft prospect threads like I did last year. |
