Title: Colin Kaepernick
Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 30, 2011, 01:29:48 pm
His draft stock went through the roof the past week with his workouts. He can definitely scramble and has a good arm. He was initially projected to go in the 2nd to 3rd round, but now people feel he has moved up to the mid-late first round.

Does Miami take him if he is available?

I'm still not seeing anyone projecting Kaepernick in the first round... Actually, everything I see points to him showing flashes, but still looking like a developmental project that is a couple of years away.

I don't touch him in round one...amd probably not in round two either.

Yeah, I don't put too much stock in these workout evaluations.  A lot of guys look good in pre-season or practice, but really need to be judged on play in actual games.  Workouts are fine for undrafted free agents or comparing two similar players with similar standings to begin with; but I don't think they should be used to "move" someone up the list substantially.

I heard one guy say he could be this years Jay Cutler. The year Cutler came out he wasn't expected to go in Rd 1. He had a bunch of good workouts and went middle of the first round.

When Colin has his pro day it will tell a lot more about this kid but he is on the rise that is for sure

He had a pretty bad Senior Bowl.  I wouldn't take him in the first or second, but if he's there in the third, shit yeah I'd take him.  When I say second, that's assuming we trade down and require that pick.
