I've never liked Kobe or the Lakers, but you have to respect the man. Even if this is just to grab some attention, I'm impressed with his desire to win.

After Lebron loses, there's excuses and crying. After Kobe loses, it's practice to get better.

He is super competitive and does not take to losing lightly. Remember his trade demands from a few years back when LA wasn't doing too well.
Also, Kobe has rings because he has been surrounded by another star and complimentary talent.
