Post by: bsfins on March 30, 2011, 12:12:03 pm
Your Favorite Team...What's the good, what's the bad?

What do you like about your team this year, what worries you? How do you feel they'll do this year? Do you like the moves made this offseason?

Post a good points, and bad points....

I'll be back later with mine....I'll try to be positive... :D

San Diego Padres, The Good:

* With a name like "Padres," we're guaranteed to curry favor with any Sports Gods out there.
* We have a ballpark large enough to fit Fenway Park, New Yankee Stadium, Citizens Bank Park and the Kremlin inside.
* Camouflage alternate uniforms. You can play nine innings in them, and then wear them to operate guerrilla warfare operations afterward. Especially handy when the Dodgers are in town.
* Dave Winfield, Tony Gwynn and Trevor Hoffman

San Diego Padres, The Bad:

* Operating budget that is equal to a small mom and pop dry cleaning business.
* Empty trophy case
* We have a ballpark large enough to fit Fenway Park, New Yankee Stadium, Citizens Bank Park and the Kremlin inside.
* Umpires think that because the team name is "Padres," they can screw us over on season-ending calls (see Rockies play at home during 1-game playoff 2 years ago) and we'll just forgive them for it.

I think you are underestimating how much working capital a dry cleaning business requires to function.   :)

:P :-[ Ok, I was thinking about your thoughts on this years team Stroke.....But don't hold back, tell us how you fell... :D ;)

The Cubs....
The Good-
*Lou Piniella is gone - To me he seemed lost, out of touch, not into the game, just a plain bad fit...

*Mike Quade - I like what I hear from him, he's a good teacher, probably a pretty good change.

*Departure of Larry Rothschild - Our pitchers seemed to go the same cycles regardless of whom it was.1 good year,Bad the next, worse or injured, the 3rd year...The Team was usually pretty high in the league in strikeouts, but Never really seemed to get better...

*Starlin Castro,Geovany Soto,Tyler Colvin,Darwin Barney,Andrew Cashner,Ryan Dempster,Sean Marshall,Carlos Marmol,Marlon Byrd, I'll even throw in Matt Garza -This should be the core of players this team is built upon, the guys that I'm happy to watch play for the most part...

*The emphasis to build the minors up,(I'm not positive that's true)

The Bad
*Jim Hendry -I'd probably say almost everything on this bad list can be attributed to him..For every good move( Bobby hill to the pirates for Aramis Ramirez,Hee Sop Choi for Derrick Lee)...He make 3-4 shitty moves,2-3 moves that are neither good or bad

*Mike Quade - He got the benefit of getting healthy last year, his team played better when there was no pressure to win.The franchise tossed Ryne Sandberg aside in favor of Quade. The Fans are gonna be murderous if he doesn't have a Descent-good year.

*Aramis Ramirez,Koske Fukudome,Carlos Zambrano,Alfonso Soriano's - a Whole lot of money,Erratic to low production...I liked Zambrano, and Ramirez but they aren't worth the money,Koske's a Flop..and Soriano is a complete waste of space,Let's be honest he was good for the Franchise to pump up value to get is sold, not good for the ball club.

*Jeff Samardzija,Jeff Baker,John Grabow,Koyie Hill (WTF he's shouldn't have made the team),and Probably Blake Dewitt- There always seem to be these type (platoon/part time, coach's pets) of guy's on our roster,we can't really find anyone better?

*The future -We may finally get rid of some of this bad money, and The press talks about We should go get Albert Pujols,or Prince Fielder..5-8 years 100-250 Million dollar contract? Are we f'n serious,we haven't learned from the moves we've just made?....It's sad,the future looks worse than the present....We want to build the minors up,yet trade them away for ok,middle of the road guy's.Continue to spend big money,on crappy players...

Outlook- 77 wins -4th in the division...
