Title: Blackhawks making a stand.
Post by: Pappy13 on April 25, 2011, 10:38:36 am
I figured they would get get owned by Vancouver before the series started and the first 3 games weren't very encouraging, but the last 3 games have been a different story. The pressure is all on Vancouver. They are the 1 seed. They have lost to Chicago the last 2 years in the playoffs. They have now lost 3 straight in this series. They seem to be losing players while Chicago seems to be getting more healthy.

I'm not saying Chicago is gonna win the series as Vancouver finally has their backs up against the wall and it's in Vancouver, but the momentum is on Chicago's side. Game 7 should be a nail biter.

I'm thinking back to last years' Flyers/Bruins series - similar story.  I am impressed with the Blackhawks.  I pretty much wrote them off for dead after game 3.  Figured Vancouver was just too powerful.  But, they must have learned something cause its working in their favor now and wouldn't be surprised to see them knock off the Canucks in game 7.

That was quite possibly one of the best hockey games I've ever seen last night. It had everything. Great hits, great shots, great saves, OT goal, it even had a penalty shot and penalty shot save. I wasn't disappointed in the outcome, in fact I was kinda happy for Vancouver's fans. They would have been devastated if they lost in OT. Blackhawks had their moment of glory last year and they showed a lot of heart pushing Vancouver to OT in 7 after getting down 0-3. It didn't look to me like any of the Blackhawks were really disappointed other than maybe Cory Crawford (Goalie) who probably felt he should have stopped the game winning goal, but it was a great shot and he absolutely stood on his head in game 7 and had no reason to be disappointed with his performance.

Blackhawks got better as the playoffs went on, I expect big things from them in future.

I reeeeeally enjoyed the 'Hawks game last night, despite not being a fan of either team. It was just damned good hockey, even though I was hoping that Chicago would complete the epic comeback and advance to round two.

I fought the battle of sleep to stay up to watch the game last night...  I'm glad I did.

It was so good.  I challenge those of you who hate on NHL to watch that game and not be on the edge of your seat.  Vancouver came out so aggressive and left the pressure on the entire time.  Toews's goal in the 3rd was nothing short of amazing, and about the only way they could beat Luongo last night.

I'm surprised by Chicago cause I thought they lost a step this season, losing Byfuglien to Atlanta, who seemed to be huge for them last year.  But, from the 8 seed they made it a series, and I hope the rest of the playoffs are just as intense.

OMG, I can't believe I forgot to mention that goal.  Down by a goal with 2 minutes left and short handed Toews drives hard to the goal, gets upended but gets the puck to a team mate who shoots, Luongo saves, but the puck bounces in front, Toews laying flat on his stomach one times the puck between Luongo's legs for the tie. I jumped from the couch and screamed YEAH!! and woke half my family. Just an amazing goal.

I'm sure that Versus or someone will replay the game at some point. If you enjoy hockey in the least, I suggest you record it and watch at least the 1st, 3rd and OT periods which were extremely entertaining.
