Title: Draft Post by: Fins7237 on April 29, 2011, 09:48:35 pm This is the worst display of drafting I have ever watched, A team needing a QB for the past decade and pass on Mallett the best QB left to take and let the Pats steal him, I thought after the mistake made with Ted Ginn Jr. was made the draftting would take a good turn, Guess I was wrong again, looks like another year of nobody that can throw the ball, better draft 5 more running backs, WOW horrible somebody needs to take controll in the front office or just sell the team. Another dissappointed Fan again this year, Think ill go and buy me a Colt McCoy Jersey tomorrow.

Title: Re: Draft Post by: MikeO on April 29, 2011, 09:57:21 pm I liked Mallett as well. But you CAN'T expect a head coach and GM on the hot seat to draft a QB. One who will be there long after they are gone. Ireland/Sparano need to win NOW. They know our screwball owner tried to replace Sparano last offseason, a slow start or a bad season and he is toast. They can't afford to develop a QB. They need a Palmer, Young, Kolb..etc. Not a rookie who will take his lumps
Title: Re: Draft Post by: tubba marxxx on April 29, 2011, 10:02:28 pm Ryan Mallett couldn't beat out Chad Henne during his brief stay in Michigan, hence the transfer to Arkansas. What makes you think the opposite could/would/should happen in the NFL?

They can't afford to develop a QB. They need a Palmer, Young, Kolb..etc. Not a rookie who will take his lumps my thoughts with this is that drafting a young qb high, doesn't prevent them from bringing in a veteran qb in free agency as well. this front office doubles down all the time in the draft on certain positions, why not approach the most important position on the team that way as well? it would've been nice to have palmer + mallet (or dalton, kaep, whomever the f they thought was the guy to emerge from this qb class given all were in reach except newton at #15). this front office, nah... they are like the anti-pats. the hooded one picks mallet to groom behind their veteran starter. he understands that todays nfl isn't freaking rocket science. u have to have a damn good nfl quarterback to be a contender. otherwise you're a team on the middle of the pack hamster wheel. Title: Re: Draft Post by: Landshark on May 03, 2011, 09:52:41 am What the Dolphins need to do is stockpile draft picks for next year the way New England and Cleveland have done.
Then if Henne doesn't work out this year, trade up to the top spot and grab Andrew Luck. Title: Re: Draft Post by: Phishfan on May 03, 2011, 10:03:08 am Ryan Mallett couldn't beat out Chad Henne during his brief stay in Michigan, hence the transfer to Arkansas. What makes you think the opposite could/would/should happen in the NFL? I've seen this more than once and I always think how crazy this theory is. While I don't know how Mallett will turn out, you cannot use this argument effectively. How many freshmen come in and beat out a fourth year starting QB at a major college program? Tom Brady sat behind Brian Griese. Based on your argument, Brady would never be as good as Griese. Also I should add his transfer had nothing to do with not being a freshman starter (Henne had been a senior that year and Mallet was the starter during his injury). It had to do with Rich Rodriguez coming to Michigan and knowing he didn't fit the offensive mold. Title: Re: Draft Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 04, 2011, 01:22:55 pm ^^^ And it isn't like Brady is the only one.
Matt Cassel has already proven he is a better NFL QB than Matt Leinart. Title: Re: Draft Post by: fyo on May 04, 2011, 01:34:02 pm ^^^^
It should also go without saying that the skill set requirements for a college quarterback are significantly different than that those for an NFL quarterback. Title: Re: Draft Post by: BigDaddyFin on May 05, 2011, 12:50:08 am IF you wanted a quarterback that bad, this is definately not the year to take one. I don't give a fuck what ESPN says.
Title: Re: Draft Post by: tubba marxxx on May 05, 2011, 04:06:17 pm ^^ totally agreed..but it won't matter....so...."Rt it.. Blog it.. Hate it.. Criticize it.. Chad Henne makes the Pro Bowl this season"
B-Marsh isn't the only one making bold predicitons :) Title: Re: Draft Post by: DZA on May 05, 2011, 04:28:09 pm This is the worst display of drafting I have ever watched, A team needing a QB for the past decade and pass on Mallett the best QB left to take and let the Pats steal him, I thought after the mistake made with Ted Ginn Jr. was made the draftting would take a good turn, Guess I was wrong again, looks like another year of nobody that can throw the ball, better draft 5 more running backs, WOW horrible somebody needs to take controll in the front office or just sell the team. Where does your football knowledge come from ? MADDEN maybe ::) Your rant makes absolutely no sense. ::) Especially when you talk about COLT McCoy LOL FUUUUUNNNNYYYY ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Draft Post by: StL FinFan on May 05, 2011, 08:22:39 pm It was a drive by rant anyway. pfft.

Why is it that the people who know the least about football are the ones that have the strongest opinions about it? Title: Re: Draft Post by: BigDaddyFin on May 08, 2011, 01:38:05 am Mallett may become a decent quarterback, but the more he opens his mouth the more he looks like the second coming of Ryan Leaf.
At a time when he should be keeping his mouth shut, he's talking shit, and he's not even going to play anytime soon. Brady's not even that old so he'll either spend the next 5 years (if he lasts that long in the NFL) doing mop-up duty and holding a clipboard, or he'll be the next "Savior" F/A pickup for a team despirate for marginal quarterback play (ahem Arizona cough Minnesota gag Cincinnati choke) |
