Title: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: phinphan on May 03, 2011, 04:33:04 pm Most teams took advantage of the break in the lockout to get new playbooks to there players. Of course We did not.

Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: MikeO on May 03, 2011, 05:16:49 pm He has been in over his head since Day 1. And he does NOTHING to change that perception. It's on the job training with him and this franchise will continue to fail with him as head coach
Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: Sunstroke on May 03, 2011, 06:39:44 pm Have to admit, this is a major gaffe by Sparano and staff... Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: BigDaddyFin on May 03, 2011, 10:53:37 pm Does he need to hand out playbooks? The defense's isn't going to change at all really. And the offense, well shit it's not like they can play much worse.
Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: fyo on May 04, 2011, 09:23:45 am DAMNIT!
Yes, of course the team needed to hand out playbooks. If there is NO DIFFERENCE from last year, we are in serious shit. We have a new OC, so there's almost certainly a brand new playbook. Sparano is ultimately responsible, but Brian Dabol deserves some flack as well. Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: Pappy13 on May 04, 2011, 11:26:06 am There's one thing I think some of you are forgetting and that is that Chad Henne has already been given a playbook and he's running training camp for the offense right now. There's no reason that he couldn't have handed out a playbook to the entire offense well before now. Now it's possible that Dabol has made a few changes to the playbook since then, but it's not like he's missing the entire playbook.
Everyone gave them plenty of crap about breaking the rules and giving Henne a playbook not that long ago, now you're giving them crap about not giving Henne a playbook? In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the reason they didn't give them a playbook was because they knew Henne had already given everyone one, but of course they aren't going to admit that to the media. I seriously doubt this would just "slip their mind". Where they screwed up was not making it official and giving everyone an "official" playbook when they had the chance to cover their tracks so to speak. Maybe I'm giving Henne and Dabol too much credit, but Sparano is too much of a detail oriented guy for him to just forget to do this. What he didn't think about was what he was gonna say when asked if they handed one out during the time they were allowed to do it. "Um, no we didn't hand one out then" while thinking to himself "...because they already have one...CRAP!" Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: Sunstroke on May 04, 2011, 11:47:42 am ^^^ If that's the case, then I'll take back the nasty things I thought about Sparano. ;) Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: Phishfan on May 04, 2011, 11:50:19 am I had completely forgotten about Henne and Daboll already meeting.

Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 06, 2011, 10:45:23 am I don't think handing out or not handing out playbooks is all that of a big deal. What is a big deal is if the players are working out or not on their own.
Teams whose players arrive in decent physical shape will be substantially ahead of teams whose players need to get into shape first. Teams whose players arrive in decent physical shape will be substantially ahead of teams whose players need to get into shape first. When you have a new offensive coordinator, I think the playbooks are pretty significant. There's no telling how long this labor issue will persist, so it's something that needs to be considered. Title: Re: Coaches fail to hand out playbooks Post by: BigDaddyFin on May 07, 2011, 11:56:30 pm Something tells me they didn't change the offensive playbook that much. Dan Henning's playbook has everything in it an NFL team needs. The problem was the order in which the plays were called and some of the formations I'd like to see them get rid of.
There's always minor changes in the playbook year to year. |
