Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: Billy1383 on July 30, 2011, 09:09:16 am I can understand not wanting to give up too early on a guy, but you can't honestly think that Chad Henne is the next Drew Brees!!! I'll be the first to apologize if Henne starts putting up Drew Brees-type numbers, but that's a BIG "IF"...
Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: MixLovesThemPhins on July 30, 2011, 09:11:25 am not saying he's the next brees but um the #'s dont lie and henne is in some areas better
i think the chargers gave up on brees didn't they ??? luckily they walked away with rivers i mean lets look at this shit Henne has more yards Henne has a better record Henne has a better Comp % Henne higher QB Rating Henne more ypg INT ratio about even TD's 28 Brees 27 Henne INTs 31 Brees 33 Henne this is through 27 starts for bothn and people saying henne getting worse, not worse then from going 8-8 to 2-9 just something to think about i wonder if we go back in time to SD radio if they was saying the same things we're saying "get rid of brees, he's garbage" hahaha and henne has put up brees type #'s according to their 1st 27 starts, now lets see if the 3rd seasons starting is the magic # Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: Billy1383 on July 30, 2011, 09:33:40 am Let’s be honest. While Henne’s numbers have been SLIGHTLY better in SOME of those statistical categories, it’s only by a SMALL margin. Furthermore, what happened with Brees (something 'clicked' in his 3rd year as a starter) doesn't happen with every quarterback who struggles in his first two seasons as a full-time starter. Henne COULD be the next Brees -OR- he could be the next Tim Couch, David Carr, Alex Smith… It’s more probable that he’ll end up like one of those ‘average’ QBs than like Brees. I like your optimism though!

Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: MixLovesThemPhins on July 30, 2011, 09:59:32 am brees wasn't ish til rivers was sitting behind him hahaha so maybe we do need to draft another QB
Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: tubba marxxx on July 30, 2011, 10:32:07 am Call me crazy, but I think all this talk about needing an upgrade over him is gonna light a fire under Henne's ass and he's gonna come out firing on all cylinders. Call it extreme optimism, but I just have this crazy feeling he's going to turn heads in the right direction. None of you will agree, because his name isn't Dan Marino, so be it
Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: Doc-phin on July 30, 2011, 10:52:15 am Most QBs are made great by their ability to lead a scoring drive at the end of a game. Henne chooses to throw balls 5 yards down the middle with no timeouts and has no sense of urgency getting the ball snapped afterwards. WTF? HOW DO YOU DEFEND A GUY WHO DOES THAT? Even if you try to blame the coaching, any NFL QB would know that surrendering a game that is in reach will end your career and they would choose to go against the coaching.
If I see that crap again this year, I will lead the publicity charge to shitcan his ass! Otherwise, Henne has some good moments and just needs to be more sure where to go with the ball. Red zone and deep throws are often on the coaches but if Henne misses or dumps off with a deep guy open it is on him. Henne tends to go for the safe underneath stuff, ignore the big plays and where has it gotten him? Long field goal tries and plenty of INTs anyway. If you base your entire season off one day of training camp..ignore the fact that there was, ya know, a lockout..then you're a moron and you should just stop posting here Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: MikeO on July 30, 2011, 12:31:16 pm If you base your entire season off one day of training camp..ignore the fact that there was, ya know, a lockout..then you're a moron and you should just stop posting here Its not one day, its the start of the 3rd year.....it never changes. How many times do you have to see the same mistakes over and over Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: MikeO on July 30, 2011, 12:32:58 pm Link or it didn't happen. ha ha ha, everything in life doesn't have a link my friend. BUT... www.WQAM.com and listen to Omar Kelly's radio show, he's on till 2pm Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: tubba marxxx on July 30, 2011, 01:32:09 pm Its not one day, its the start of the 3rd year.....it never changes. Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: MikeO on July 30, 2011, 09:16:12 pm You think Chad Henne is the next Drew Brees.....that says even more! ::)
Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: Spider-Dan on July 31, 2011, 12:44:10 am Effectively, hoping for a QB to have a Drew Brees-like turnaround is like hoping that your 6th-round QB wins multiple MVPs. Yes, it has happened. No, it's not likely.
Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: Brian Fein on July 31, 2011, 01:10:30 am The stuff that Doc talked about, while irritatingly frustrating, falls on the coaching staff. You have to teach your guys how to play fundamentally sound football, and to know how to behave on the field in situations. You have to prepare your guys.
No, you shouldn't need to tell your starting QB to hurry up when there's 8 seconds left and its ticking, but you better believe that shouldn't EVER happen a second time. If it does, its on the coaching staff for not fixing it, or perhaps being the cause. Our offense had major problems last season, the biggest of which was in the box upstairs wearing a headset. That problem has been removed (but perhaps replaced with a younger version - that remains to be seen). Let's see if there's a change in the offense, or if Henne really is the problem variable. By the way, slight hijack, I hope Daboll works from the sideline, rather than the box upstairs. I think he gets a better feel of the game from the sideline, rather than watching from the A/C. Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: MixLovesThemPhins on July 31, 2011, 12:29:59 pm You think Chad Henne is the next Drew Brees.....that says even more! ::) um i never said Henne was the next Brees, all i did was compare their first 27 starts in which Henne's #'s are better in most categories so u either dont know how to read football stats or u choose to see what u want Title: Re: Who Would You Rather Have ??? #1 or #2 Post by: masterfins on July 31, 2011, 03:54:39 pm Its not one day, its the start of the 3rd year.....it never changes. How many times do you have to see the same mistakes over and over I need to see them for 16 more regular season games.
