Title: Jake Long on PUP
Post by: MikeO on July 31, 2011, 09:45:05 am
www.dolphinstalk.com

Jake Long was put on PUP. Looks like the team is just be playing it safe by doing this. So he doesn't take a lot of unnecessary hits or contact in camp. But if he is on the list by Week 1 he must miss 6 games.

It would be nicer if you linked to the story and not just the front page. While the story may have been on the front page when you stumbled across it, that's not likely to continue to be the case.

Alternatively, you could link to the source rather than the random blog regurgitation:

unlike last year when jake was playing late in a preseason game he had no business being in, i think this is a good move.

let jake sit on the sideline, underneath an umbrella, with some mist fan, lounging for the next 36 days.

On the contrary, I'm a very happy guy ;)

Here's another journalistic source:

This is even more bad news for the Dolphins. Jake Long has been the best player on the roster the last few years for the Dolphins. Him being on the PUP - even in the off-season - is cause for concern.

It is not merely a random blog.  It is a blog written by Mike O whichrarely bothers with attribution so shouldn't be considered any more reliable than MikeO's posts.

Unlike DolphinsTalk.com TDMMC has some standards.  Two of which are:

1. If you are reporting factually information or quotes provide the source in which you got the factually information.

2. If you are offering your opinion, don't claim that it is a fact.

Peyton Manning is on the PUP list, too, so I won't be worried until the end of this month about Jake.

I don't get why Peyton Manning being on the PUP list as well as Jake Long actually eases your concern over Jake Long's PUP status. How are the two related?

I don't expect this to carry on until he has to sit our regular season games. I think this is just precautionary after his surgery, but then again you never know.

The reason why the 2 are similar is because they're both apparently precautionary.
Neither player really needs the work in camp, so why let them take up a roster space during training camp you could use to evaluate someone else?

The number of roster spots during camp has been drastically increased this season.
