I am usually against the Dallas to Miami pipeline because 99% of the time the guys are scrubs. Colombo can actually play though. Good move

The coaches gave a healthy Vernon Carey the night off from practice tonight and he isnt' on the field or with the team. Rumor going around is if he doesn't re-do his deal he is gonna be cut because of the Colombo signing

Marc Colombo, according to @ProFootbalFocus: -34.1, 3rd-WORST OT in the league. -25.0 pass blocker. "

Colombo is still a serviceable right tackle.  His problem in Dallas was injury/age related.  And because of that problem, he should be a second stringer.

I would be ok with that.  Trouble is, Vernon Carey is healthy and according to reports, did not practice tonight because he was given a "personal night off".  This means either he is going to restructure his contract or he will be cut.

Speculation was correct. If Vernon doesn't take a pay cut he is cut.

If cut we are handing him to the Jets. Damien Woody retired and they haven't replaced him at RT, they would jump all over Vernon in a heart-beat.

Edit: NO LINK, happy now.

MikeO, I think there may be a problem with your source.  See below:

MikeO, when you link to a post by you on your blog saying something (a blog post with no links, mind you), that is not attribution.

If I don't add a link, people complain. I add a link, people complain. Ya can't win. Let me save you your next response, its not the "right link" in your opinion. I know I know....never happy

LOL!

Not sure whether we're dealing with epic stubbornness here or a laughably desperate push for web traffic to a blog, but in the interests of sanity (and the eternal drive for run-on sentence glory), here is the link to the "real source" for the Vernon Carey speculation, rather than to another place where MikeO said the same thing he said here.

No need to thank me, MikeO...I live to help you in any way I can. ;)

Not to mention that its "professional courtesy" to provide a link to the original piece when even posting about it in your blog.

The idea is not to establish random links between TDMMC and other sites.  The point is to (a) give credit to the guy reporting the story and (b) cite a REPUTABLE news source.  No offense, but posting something on your blog doesn't make you a reputable source.

From what I'm hearing, it looks like Vernon Carey will be cut. Bad signing then.  Carey is much more dependable than Colombo.  Colombo is really nothing more than a backup at this stage in his career.

The last few years, I've not been the biggest Vernon Carey fan...But...
The thing that bothers me most is that it's known we said take a paycut or your gone...We could have tried to shop him,I think he still has some value to some team out there, but with it being known we'll probably cut him...his value is next to nothing, with this floating around....We cut him we get nothing,in return...(other than cap space)...

Just my thoughts...

IMO It's a smart move to take the paycut,I have a hard time seeing anyone paying him big money right now...Most teams teams have spent most of their free cap money already...
