Title: Time to embrace them... Post by: Pappy13 on August 08, 2011, 11:45:50 am I know most of you don't believe Henne can change or improve, but it's clear now that he's most likely going to be the opening day starter unless he really looks bad in preseason games. Seems like Henne and Marshall cleared the air a little bit before Sunday's scrimmage and for the first time since Marshall has been here it seemed they were on the same page. Perhaps Marshall was a bit of the problem, maybe he can be a part of the solution? Isn't it time that the fans get behind them and hope for the best...for both of them?
Title: Re: Time to embrace him as our starter.... Post by: Brian Fein on August 08, 2011, 11:47:56 am Yes.
He's the starting QB. If you're a fan of the Dolphins, you MUST be a fan of Henne. If you are not a fan of Henne, you MUST be a Jets' fan. Its OK to be a doubter, but why boo your own team on gameday? That's childish and irresponsible as a fan. Thick and thin, good and bad, you CHEER for your team, and all the players on it. Including Chad Henne. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: tubba marxxx on August 08, 2011, 11:52:50 am + 1
love it Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Sunstroke on August 08, 2011, 11:58:44 am My boss went to the Phins practice over the weekend and said there was no booing of Henne, and that Henne actually looked pretty accurate during passing drills. Granted, my boss probably wouldn't qualify as a "professional scout," but he wasn't really critiquing Henne's mechanics or anything...just that he put the ball where the receiver could catch it. I hope Henne has a monster season that lets all the air out of the hater-balloons. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: dolfan13 on August 08, 2011, 12:05:01 pm im cheering for the dolphins... looks like henne had a good scrimmage, and here's hoping that he can continue improving.
Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Spider-Dan on August 08, 2011, 12:06:51 pm He's the starting QB. If you're a fan of the Dolphins, you MUST be a fan of Henne. If you are not a fan of Henne, you MUST be a Jets' fan. Does this also apply to Stephen Ross, Jeff Ireland, and Tony Sparano?Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Brian Fein on August 08, 2011, 12:09:46 pm I've heard/read from several different independent sources that Henne has been lighting up the practice field. Including a guy that played with one of the league's best last year...
"Good productive day today at Dolphins Scrimmage. My man Chad Henne was on fire..." http://twitter.com/reggie_bush Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Spider-Dan on August 08, 2011, 12:21:08 pm Brian, surely you have to be at least a little skeptical that they are just circling the wagons?
Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Pappy13 on August 08, 2011, 12:25:45 pm Brian, surely you have to be at least a little skeptical that they are just circling the wagons? Sure, but isn't that what preseason is all about? Seeing the glass as half-full rather than half empty? C'mon Spider, I've started to let myself believe again. It actually feels pretty good. Let it happen, we can worry about game 1 in a couple weeks.Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Sunstroke on August 08, 2011, 12:26:28 pm I could see circling the wagon from other players, sure...but my boss probably didn't get that memo before he made his comments. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: mecadonzilla on August 08, 2011, 12:37:56 pm Who's rooting against Henne?
Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Frimp on August 08, 2011, 01:08:59 pm I don't think anyone is rooting against him as in hoping he fails. They just want him gone.
If Henne has a good season this year, this dish is just for you...the people who derail every thread about him with your opinions about him (http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/attachments/aroc-usa-alfa-romeo-owners-club-usa/180159d1278784201-future-national-convention-locations-eating-crow.jpg) Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: badger6 on August 08, 2011, 01:09:51 pm Where does this hater term come from ? Seems it comes from that silly rap/hip hop stuff. Either way it's a useless term as far as I'm concerned. These days if you don't agree with someone you get labeled a hater. I do want Henne to do well, but judging from past performance I don't buy it for one minute. If that makes me a hater, have at it. But remember if we're gonna start calling people names don't get your feelings hurt when I start calling names too. I can come up with a lot better ones than that...........
Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Spider-Dan on August 08, 2011, 01:30:30 pm Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see Henne do well... but the last person I'm going to look to for objective evaluation is a teammate or coach.
Anyway, as has been said, we're talking about practice. I didn't care when they said he was having poor practices, and I still don't care now that they are saying he's having good practices. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Frimp on August 08, 2011, 01:33:12 pm I'm giving the guy one more season to turn it around under a new OC who won't hand cuff him like Henning did.
Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Brian Fein on August 08, 2011, 02:29:04 pm ^^ Smart guy.
A lot of people are rooting against Henne in hopes that his miserable failure would lead the staff to replace him. Rather than rooting for the guy to succeed and improve, they'll root against their own team in an effort to show how smart they are. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: Spider-Dan on August 08, 2011, 02:33:22 pm I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm rooting for or against Henne, specifically. I'm rooting for the team to do well.
This regime is now effectively tied to Henne. The way I see it, if we do well, then that's great. If not, Cowher is standing on the sideline and we will see a clean sweep of the front office. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: tubba marxxx on August 08, 2011, 03:45:29 pm My biggest fear..Henne DOES light it up, and then says F-U when it's time to talk contracts and signs elsewhere.....we'll be right back to square one
Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: dolfan13 on August 08, 2011, 03:48:38 pm that's what franchise tags are for... he's a looooonnnnnnnggg way from that.
let's just be happy with his slow, baby steps moving forward for now. good scrimmage, let's see him continue to grow off of that. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: mecadonzilla on August 08, 2011, 04:30:58 pm I don't think anyone is rooting against him as in hoping he fails. They just want him gone. If Henne has a good season this year, this dish is just for you...the people who derail every thread about him with your opinions about him (http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/attachments/aroc-usa-alfa-romeo-owners-club-usa/180159d1278784201-future-national-convention-locations-eating-crow.jpg) So threads that involve QB talk shouldn't contain Henne related material? Hmm...nice to know. We'd all like him to succeed, but in all probability, we've already seen what kind of QB he is. If the previous 2 seasons were not typical and he does start playing average to above average ball, I'd happily eat crow. I'll save room for it on my dessert plate. I wish I could "embrace" Henne as the starter, but I'm like a beaten dog with this guy. I've seen him slap my hopes and dreams around for 2 seasons and now cringe whenever he's on the field. He's going to have to start treating this dog better before I'll wag my tail when I see him. Title: Re: Time to embrace them... Post by: masterfins on August 08, 2011, 09:22:03 pm I mean really, what else is there to say about Henne. I'd like to see a regular season game before listening to anymore of the same old tired knocks on Henne, everybody on this board has made their opinions known on the guy, why keep re-hashing the same comments?
