Tonight's first preseason game.....

Thoughts on tonight's game?
Who are you anxious to see on the field tonight?


I'm curious to see Odrick,our safeties,Korey Sheets,Clay the FB/TE,LB's Edds and Spitler

I expect to see a sloppy game,first preseason,very little practice time (especially for the guy's we signed as free agents).

Is this one on TV ? If not does anyone know of any good feeds ?

i mean this entire preseason has to be a referendum on henne. he has to come out of game 1 on solid ground, with a good base to build off of heading into game 2.

It's not on TV here in Texas, but the NFL channel is showing a replay at noon tomorrow. Check your local listings.

I am looking forward to seeing the running game tonight. With Bush and Thomas being new additions I am intersted in seeing how they operate in our offense.

I heard Bush and Marshall were a scratch tonight.

I hope Bush is not a scratch.  He needs as much work as he can get in this new system. 

I'd love to see Gates and Livas, the speedy WR's we picked up. 

Also looking forward to seeing how the new system affects the vertical passing game.

The top guys are going to see VERY little action. The risk of injury with this little prep is just too high. Not worth it. The consensus from yesterday seems to be right around 6 passes for the first-string quarterback and not much more for the other starters.

Rookies could see a bit more, but a guy like Bush has only been with the team for a week.

great way to start the season... that wasn't henne's fault at all, but can't afford the bad breaks.

That pass bounced off Fasano for the INT right?  It seems like this always happens to him.

Henne threw it behind him. Bad pass. Bad TE. BAD RESULT!

We don't look good. Say what you will about Henne, but he's not the one giving up chuncks of yards to Julio and Turner. Thought the D this year was supposed to be top 5? Ugh.....might be a long year. -EK

The Matt Moore era is upon us. This franchise can't keep throwing Henne out there. PRESEASON OR NOT, its just a bad dark cloud hanging over this franchise at this point. The GM tried to replace him, the fans hate him...its best for everyone to just move on at this point

Your "sky is falling" bullshit is getting tired.  First preseason game without Marshall or Bush...be realistic.

Henne's on pace for a 32 td 64 int season!!!   It's a lock!

Does it worry anyone that Henne has more rushing yards than our "young stud running running back"?

O-line and QB were a HUGE problem last year. Not much has changed in those areas it WILL be a huge problem all season long.

We brought back the same group. I'm still wondering why we made Vernon Carey take a paycut? I mean we cleared a ton of money and did nothing with it! Big Vern should be pissed!! Probably is!

Defense is supposed to be "up" on the offense this time of year (and esp. this year), but we're not exactly looking good out there.

I tend to believe Henne is done for the day. He's at 8 passes now... That seems to be about the limit for the first game.

I know I get labled a "negative nancy", and not even looking at tonight, ignore the Atlanta game....our defense is a bit overrated. Sean Smith isn't a starter in this league. Clemons is a nice player, also not a NFL starter. Jones, who knows, maybe but its early for him. Misi is young but right now not an impact player by any means. Nice player, nothing special though.

It's a "GOOD" defense. But not a defense that will dominate or win you games by themselves.

And Moore is in, so (as expected) that was it for Henne.

I don't know... seems like it might've been worth it to gamble with injuries and just keep the first string out there a full half. But I guess the coaches need to look at other guys as well... still, it would've been nice if the players could get on the same page once in a while.

Let Henne go out on a high note.

Plus watching Henne pick apart 2nd and 3rd stringers tells you nothng. When he was in there vs the 1st teamers, you saw the real Henne. Or the "same ole Henne"

M.Moore incomplete to M.Moore... That's an odd stat line. (yeah, I know we have two M. Moores on the team.)

As much as I'd love to chime in whenever the Dolphins are down, I just can't because it's PRESEASON!!!! These guys are absolutely NOT giving it 100% effort and we can absolutely not gauge any of this at all.

The preseason is the worst measuring stick for regular season performance.

Two examples: Steve Spurrier's 1st NFL season with the Redskins - they averaged over 40 points per game and everyone thought they'd be the shit. Turns out, they were shit allright.

16-0 Patriots: Did they not go 0-4 in the preseason?

Preseason means nothing - absolutely nothing.

This may be a first:  I agree with jtex.  I had to get off facebook because everyone is reading too much into this game.

I seem to recall the 0-16 Lions won all 4 of their preseason games.

Not to be picky, but, NO, they didn't go 0-4. They were 2-2, and their two losses against the Bucs and Titans were by a field goal each. -EK

I can honestly say after tonight, the following youngsters are locks to make this team:

AJ Edds
Jimmy Wilson
Clyde Gates
Roberto Wallace

Seeing the play of these guys gives me hope for the future.

Gates, Edds, And Wilson are absolute animals.

What about Livas, the kid who returned one 75 yards for a touchdowns?

He's an undrafted rookie WR and he's been working out as punt and kick returner all camp (along with a few others).

^^^ I absolutely loved it...I thought the first couple returns he looked like couldn't keep his feet,but the Td, he showed some speed,a little bit wiggle,not too easy to bring down...I want see what he does the next couple of games...I hope he sticks....

It wasn't a bad pass, the ball went right thru Fasano's hands and hit him in the chest and bounced off. That's on the TE.

Nothing is ever Hennes fault.

That second pick sure was, but I could turn it around on you and say "everything is always Henne's fault".  Fact is, the ball hit the TE on the hands.  Was it thrown behind him?  Yes.  Was Fasano going to get any YAC out of it because it wasn't placed well?  No.  But he should have caught that ball.

it is weird though how with better qb play (11-5 year), fasano had a real good year and the o line had it's best year. it's funny how strange interceptions just seem to follow henne like a black cloud.

what is it, 3 weeks until the patriots? team has a long way to go to even put something on the field that is going to be competitive in that game.

We will be competitive against the Patriots because of Nolan's D... for like 18 minutes until they are gassed out because we have an int/3nout king at QB.

Henne can not be our starter week 1, or we are doomed. This is a guy who they are potentially giving governance to all our offensive plays. This cannot be!

I wouldn't be too worried about the TE play.  Fasano worked out like a beast in the off season.  I played in his golf outing this year.   He looks to be in the best shape of his career.  He will have one of his best year's this year.

I hope the new OC turns it around this year for you guys, no matter who ends up starting at qb.

I got a chance to watch the game again yesterday with fewer "distractions" -- well, the first half anyway.

What worries me more than anything else (including quarterback) is the attitude displayed on both sides of the ball by our starters. It was anemic. There was no fight. No "go-get-the-ball" attitude. Our secondary had several big chances at interceptions, but when you just stand there waiting for a ball to come to you, you're never going to catch the ball.

Sure, this is only preseason, so who cares? But this was a problem last season as well. It's like our players aren't completely "in the game", mentally. I like Sparano, but if this carries over to the regular season (again), it's on the coaching. He needs to light a fire under their asses and quick.

When the backups starting getting more time on the field, the intensity shot up. Nate Ness had a really sweet defended pass where he had to run all the way around a (huge) receiver and just barely got a hand on the ball. Really sweet play. Dollars to donuts the first team guys would've just tackled the receiver after the catch instead of making the play.

Henne displayed that way too relaxed, bordering on indifferent, attitude as well. I know he's not the most vocal of guys, but he's the quarterback and needs to lead.

I also just watched the game, in full.  A few positives, specifically defensive speed on blitzes from some of our new players (mentioned here a bunch before.)

Of course I'm concerned with running between the tackles, as well as QB play from Henne.

I think that we're going to have to use our RBs in the flat a lot this year.  I just don't think we're going to be able to run traditionally.  Of course, it's just one quarter of a meaningless game...much more to learn.

I think he meant "NO" as in a negative to your assertion regarding the 16-0 Pats going 0-4 in the preseason, not "NO" as in New Orleans.

Um, I don't know what game you were watching but he was more animated than I've ever seen him. Watch on the TD drive where he gets his own left tackle to jump on 1st down on a hard count just after scrambling for a 1st down. He slaps his hands together and glares at the tackle for a good 2 or 3 seconds. I've NEVER seen that from him before. I honestly think the lockout was good for Henne. This is now HIS offense. He doesn't really have anyone looking over his shoulder like he did last year. He can demand better from his players. Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I thought it was something that you would see Dan or any other QB that knows the offense is HIS do.

^^^Henne definitely seems to have earned some respect from the other players on offense, and seems to be settling into a leadership position.  Now he just has to produce, or he'll lose that respect in no time.  Here's hoping...
