Title: Tim Tebow anyone?
Post by: mecadonzilla on August 23, 2011, 12:57:51 am
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-tebow-broncos-trade-20110822,0,3636797.story

I haven't the slightest Denver might want for him in a trade, but for the right price, I'd be very interested in seeing Mr. Tebow in some wildcat down Miami way.

Didn't have any interest in trading for him, and even if he's released and doesn't cost anything, I still don't have any interest in the guy. He just isn't an NFL QB, imo...

He can't even throw a spiral!! He is the worst QB prospect in the last 10-15 years in the NFL. He's really THAT bad.

Now, I think Denver is doing him a dis-service by not sitting him down and saying "Listen, you're a great guy and you have a great work ethic and you're a great athlete...but you're just not cut out to be an NFL Quarterback. Would you be willing to try another position?".

I actually think Tebow could excel at another position, like Tight End or a big bruising, lead-blocking fullback who can also be versatile and either carry the ball or catch a dump-off pass every now and again.

For his sake, I hope he doesn't do what Eric Crouch did some years back, where he clearly was not an NFL QB and decided to not try another position. His NFL career was basically over the minute he made that decision, where he may have been able to be a good player at another position.

^^^ Great idea, I think the Giants should trade for him.

I'm with Sunstroke.  As I mentioned in another thread, I don't want a guy who makes two reads and takes off running.  He has a lot to learn about the QB position, and bringing him in would assure the team that if Henne doesn't get it right this year and the team has to move on, more years of growing pains would ensue.

Pass.

I didn't think Tebow was much of a prospect coming out of college, but he did play pretty well toward the end of the season last year.  It's not his fault Denver screwed the pooch by drafting him WAY too early and putting all the high expectations on him.

If he gets released I bet there would be a bunch of teams calling his agent the next day.

We already had an 8 page argument about this.  Tebow sucks.  No thanks.

If this were the NIRSA flag football championships, Tebow would be an all star.  In the NFL, not so much.

I guess I'm an extreme minority here.  I think he's probably better than anything we have on the roster at QB.  That's not saying much for Tim, BTW.   I just think he could be added to the mix as a fine wildcat back...with the actually ability to be a throwing threat in the formation.  It would be doing what he essentially did in college for 4 years.

We could have space for that guy.  Assuming compensation is no issue, (for the sake of argument) what's the harm in having him?  Would the greatness of Pat Devlin be relegated to the practice squad?   Gasp!

Matt Moore can be 3rd QB, Henne and Tebow fight it out for the starting gig with Tebow coming in for specialty formations as a change up (much like he did for Chris Leak).

He is the 2nd coming of Jim "CRASH" Jensen. If a coaching staff realizes that and plays to his strengths and doesn't try to force him to be a "classic" NFL QB, he will have value in this league.

Let him play special teams, tight end, some fullback, play quarterback in a handful of packages around the goaline where his skills are suitable.

I'm not giving up a lot to get him. But for a mid-round pick I can have my 3rd string QB also play multiple positions and help in multiple areas like Jim Jensen did back in the day, I would do it.

So, whichever Denver QB is not their starter is the guy we want?  No thanks.

I'd like to see any of Denver's top 3 here.  I think they're all capable of replacing Henne.

Sure if he wants to come in as a FB or TE, but not QB

Why not all?  Just saying...Shula would have tried.

What makes you say that? I don't recall Shula turning over the bottom portion of his roster the way this regime has. If Ireland and Sparano won't give you a chance, then you have very little chance of making it in the NFL period. They just signed Larry Johnson and that was after taking a look at Clinton Portis and Tiki Barber.

Face it, none of the Bronco's QB's are really anything special and Tebow doesn't look as good as their 3rd string guy right now. If you made me choose between Tim Tebow and Pat White, I might take Tim. I might.

I would consider taking Quinn, if he got cut.  Tebow looks awful from the highlights I've seen.

Here's a video that's making the rounds:

On 3rd and goal with less than a minute left in the half, Tebow somehow winds up causing three offensive penalties on one play.

ESPN Denver reporting the Broncos HAVE put Tebow on the trade block officially

Other reports are saying the Jets and Fins are interested.

I can see the Jets interest.  After losing Brad Banks perhaps they're going to look for a similar style player.

OMG.  Yes.  Brad Smith.

Was Brad Banks the Mizzou QB?

Brad Smith went to Mizzou.  I have never heard of Brad Banks.

I had to look it up.  Brad Banks was the QB at Iowa in 2001 & 2002.  He's now in the AFL with the Iowa Barnstormers.  I knew Brad Banks was somebody.  lol

Dolphins announced tonight that the home game vs Denver October 23rd....at halftime the Fins will host a REUNION for the National Champion Florida Gators from a couple years back. Urban Myer will be there, Tebow (if with Denver still) will be there, and a bunch of others from that team will be there. Although Pouncey and Tebow will be "playing" in the game so might not be part of the halftime thing.

Gators holding a reunion in the home of the Miami Hurricanes......it really MUST be over for "THE U" at this point!!!!
