When Henne has a bad play, there are 30 people lighting up the message boards about how he sucks.

Henne has played two great games in a row here (granted in preseason), and there's not a peep?

Let's be fair.  Give the kid some credit and get behind him a little bit and maybe he can carry some of this momentum into the regular season and play at a high level.  How about being Dolphins FANS for a while, instead of finding something bad to bitch about?

I think there was a fair amount of support for him in the thread for the last game.  Even MikeO complemented him.  It was good to see him play well, especially since the O-Line was less than par in that game.

It's called cautious optimism. Yes, I think I've noticed a change in Henne, but yes it's also too early to make too much of it. Once the season starts, if he can continue to do what he's done in the last 2 preseason games, then I'll give a big sigh of relief and give him some props. He deserves credit for looking good in 2 preseason games, but that's as much credit as he deserves right now, for looking good in 2 preseason games.

I have been pleased with the last two games. Henne has done exactly what is needed for the team to be successful.

I think our new OC deserves some credit as well...

Sports "fans" are a microcosm of general society.  They find it much more fun to bitch and complain about things than to show a little appreciation of something positive. 

Agreed completely.  I think the majority of Henne's struggles stemmed from Grandpa hadcuffing him, and more keeps coming out to support my theory. 

I hope he keeps it up and shows the fans that chanting for another team's QB during practice was sheer buffoonery.

It's nice that he completed a high percentage of his passes but if I recall that they were mostly short passes & most of the yardage came from the 1 catch by Marshall, & the rest of the yardage was done after the catch and not in the air......

I am very sorry but Chad Henne, Tony Sparano, and Stephen Ross have simply not shown me anything to where I can assign them any type of credit.

Because, it's pre-season. It's easy for Matthew Stafford, Chad Henne, John Beck, and Houston's Defense to look good in preseason, and it's equally as easy for Tom Brady to be on his ass against the Lions D and for Arian Foster to limp off the field and for Peyton Manning to rehab his neck in preseason.

This is the same logic that I am using when in Preseason Week 1 - where Chad Henne got completely lambasted, I said:


Let's give credit where credit is due when there is something (that counts) worth giving credit or not giving credit for. Let's see after week 3 / week 4 where the progression and development of one Chad Henne is. Stop putting so much weight into meaningless pre-season exhibition matches where injury prevention is equally if not more important than on-field performance.

So, actually, I will give Chad Henne this much: He hasn't injured himself in pre-season. Good job Chad.

Yes and no. Henne actually had 3 pass plays of longer than 20 yards in the game. The TD to Marshall, the play to Marshall where he fumbled and his first pass to Fasano. The TD and the play to Fasano, the ball covered more than 20 yards in the air. I'm not sure about the other pass play to Marshall where he fumbled, it was about 20 yards in the air.

Those 3 plays were a combined 112 yards of his 175, but even taking away those big plays he was 7 of 10 for 63 yards which is good. He also had an 11 yard throw to Hartline nullified by an Illegal Formation call and there were 2 defensive pass interferences against Marshall that could have resulted in big plays as well. One was 20 yards down the field and the other was at the goal line which could have been a TD.

agree.....thought Henne has played well the last 2 games.  granted this has been limited amount of time and not a whole game.

I'm sticking behind him, you have to.  got to give him this year to show something, if not, then I agree it's time to make a change or look elsewhere.

I thinks he's got the skills, he's big & can take a hit, etc, he just has to cut down on the mental errors.

with every series, game where he cuts down on the errors, his confidence builds and he can build upon that.  I'm giving him the season to make a difference and I think he does it.

Let's hold the horses on Henne playing "great."  He played well enough and didn't turn the ball over.  If he plays like that during the regular season we will all be happy considering his past performance.

However, I've seen nothing but positive comments regarding his play on this board and all over the Dolphins/Bucs thread.  So what gives?  Why start this thread?  I thought all of us "fake" fans were supporting and posting our approval...but apparently not enough for some.

I'd just like to point out that his stats over all 3 preseason games is 29 of 45 (64%) for 446 yards (9.9 yards/attempt) with 2 TD's and 2 INT's for a 93.4 rating.

Even when you consider all 3 games, it's encouraging.

I was going to make a post like this.  I don't have faith in Henne, but so far, he's doing a great job and making me eat crow.  I certainly hope this continues when it counts, but so far, so good.

Read this today.....a little surprised. Yes, it's the preseason, but among starters so far, Henne is: First in yards per completion (9.9), second in passing yards (446), fifth in passer rating (93.4) and sixth in completion percentage (64.4) among quarterbacks averaging at least 14 passes per game.  -EK

Didn't he fumble on a sack?  LOL at considering them "great games." Compared to his normal shit, yea, I guess it was a great game.

This just proves how some people will never be satisfied.

Its still preseason.  He is talking about how great he is at audibling when most defenses are vanilla and coaches don't gameplan.  When he doesn't suck in the regular season, then i will say he has turned the corner.

He had a pretty good game passing in all statistical categories (even the made up ones) and your reply was "didn't he fumble on a sack?"

I gave him credit and I think a lot of people here have too. But you can't get too excited about 2 preseason games. This guy has 27 real starts that tell a totally different story.

HOPEFULLY he has improved and this is the "new and improved" Henne and the light bulb has gone off in his head finally and he gets it. But he has to do it in September, Oct,..etc when the games count. Not August.

Well Tepop he is playing much better than your "Golden Boy" against 2nd stringers for a shitty team mind you......

I have no problem with this thread,even in preseason...The first INT Henne throws there will be 8 people screaming he sucks,Bring in Matt Moore, fire the coaching staff,front office,burn down the stadium...We're gonna lose every ball game posts....We're Doomed....DOOMED.... it's the End of the World!

After a lockout,with no OTA's,and short training camp, I'm happy to see there was improvement....

The thing that is getting me most excited about Henne is how focused and decisive he appears.  You can see on his face he isn't bullshit'n with his last serious opportunity.  Maybe giving him the ability to audible is keeping his head more in the game, but whatever it is you can see it in his body language.

Don't forget that the first interception in preseason was really Fasano's fault and the second was a combo between him and a bad route.  Take away those two picks and we are starting to feel pretty damn good right now.

I also like it that he is either connecting on deep balls or overthrowing a bit.  Previously he would underthrow the ball and it resulted in interceptions.  I think a bit more time in this offense will get the receivers playing faster and turn those overthrows into big plays.  Plus, I have seen a few passes that have had a little touch on them.  He still throws bullets most of the time, but I have seen several good decisions to take a bit off of it.

Finally, I can't believe how much faster he is moving.  I really busted on him for his slow running in the past.  Rarely do you see a QB gain running speed in his career, but his running skills and pocket elusiveness make him look like a totally different QB.

I'm not down on Henne.  I do think he needs to play well this year though.  I think having the new offense is going to help him more. 

That said, I'm also not going to get excited over anything that happens in the exhibition game season.
