Title: Vontae On Special Teams? Post by: Doc-phin on August 30, 2011, 02:33:48 pm Been thinking about this and I almost think it was my imagination playing tricks on me but wasn't Vontae Davis blocking on a punt return in the third preseason game?
WTF? He is probably our best player, and I mean best player OVERALL. We have him playing on special teams in preseason??? Did I imagine this? Thoughts? Title: Re: Vontae On Special Teams? That tells me he is a part time player there.

Check out the part on Davis' injury. Told you it was a bad idea to have on of your best players on special teams duty. I was suprised nobody took this post seriously when I originally posted it. For those who don't want to read... It says Davis strained his hamstring during on a special teams assignment. I know it is an injury that could have happened at any time but the guy plays a position that is on the field every defensive play and it isn't a good idea to add more plays, IMO. It came out the only reason Vontae was on special teams was because he took over Benny Sapp's job on the special teams unit once they cut Sapp. Now you cut Sapp, get Vontae injured, and Sapp's replacement is injured already. Cutting Benny Sapp really worked out well! |
