Title: Yatil Green Post by: deezel65 on September 21, 2011, 11:43:43 am Selecting Yatil Green for the ring of dishonor is ridiculous, here's a man who through no fault of his own was injured not on a motorcycle not in a pick-up game not in a bar fight but playing football in training camp right where he was suppose to be. He also fought to come back although he got hurt time after time it wasn't his fault in addition to this he is a guy of noble character, and to hit him with the ring of dishonor and blame "him" for the franchises demise and current condition is even dumber than giving him the ring. Jimmy Johnson took a chance on a great guy a great athlete whom had a lot of promise and it didn't pay off so what it isn't as if he was Ryan Leaf. You said life is cruel well life is also about taking chances and that is what Jimmy did and I see nothing wrong with having some integrity and keeping your word to a kid in hope that he will payoff. Had Jimmy cut him, by the way nobody said we would for sure get Randy Moss where did you get that from? Randy went where he felt comfy around a good coach and some vet WRs chances are that's what he wanted, ya think? Like I said had Jimmy cut Yatil and he regained his health and been the guy we wanted him to be you would then have Jimmy in his place. I mean to say a guy that was a good kid a hard worker and a promising star should be dishonored for getting hurt to me is way past absurd, but I understand you had to have something to write in your blog I know how you people are,I guarantee 80+% of the people who know sports disagree,so yeah I agree it was very cruel to do this to Yatil. I bet if it had been you then you would no doubt see it a different way you prob would be talking about the hard work you put in how you were never a problem blah blah blah. I mean come on there wasn't anybody else you could have come up with? If not then you wait until you have one you don't pick on a hard worker who gave his all to be a star :(

Title: Re: Yatil Green Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on September 21, 2011, 01:39:41 pm Welcome to the board, Yatil's mom. That is a bit presumptive. It is entirely possible that the poster is not Yatil's mom, but Jazmen's instead. Title: Re: Yatil Green Post by: Diehard_Dolfan on September 21, 2011, 02:21:23 pm I agree about Yatil though... he became injury prone it's not anything he could do to prevent the injuries. He worked hard and was a solid threat when healthy... he wasn't a Eric Kumerow or John Bosa!
Title: Re: Yatil Green Post by: Brian Fein on September 21, 2011, 02:32:37 pm No one is crapping on Yatil's work ethic. I'm a huge fan of Yatil Green and, as a Canes fan, was hoping he'd have worked out more. He's there because he suffered unfortunate injuries and couldn't stay healthy to the point where he never panned out, and wasted his amazing potential (along with a #15 pick). In general, teams that throw away first round picks will struggle for 5-8 years to come.
Similarly, no one claimed that the Dolphins' current-day struggles have a single thing to do with Yatil Green. That's just crazy talk. The Ring of Dishonor is not to be taken as seriously as this poster is taking it. Regardless, thanks for the thought out and well-written post, deezel65, and welcome to the site. The pick might have been wasted... but how can you say he "wasted his potential" by being injured? He didn't waste his potential.... injuries took away his potential. Jeff George wasted his potential... saying Yatil wasted his potential is like saying he could have some how avoided being hurt.... Bo Jackson had unlimited potential you blame him for his injury too? Title: Re: Yatil Green Post by: Brian Fein on September 21, 2011, 04:26:48 pm In my mind we're saying the same thing.
Would it be better if I revised it to say "his potential was wasted because of his injury"?
