Title: The Real Matt Moore Post by: Brian Fein on October 06, 2011, 06:15:31 pm In 2009, Matt Moore was anointed the starter for the end of the season for the Carolina Panthers. In 7 games (5 starts), he threw for 62% (85-of-138) for 1053 yards, 8 TDs, and 2 INT's (63 yards and a pick of that came as garbage time mop-up duty in week 1). The team was 4-1 with him as a starter.
As a comparison, Jake Delhomme, on the same team, started 11 games and went 4-7, while throwing for 2015 yards, 8 TD's and 18 INT's I think, if we get the Matt Moore from 2009, maybe he can do some damage. I remember talking to some Panthers' fans back then and they were very optimistic about him. Of course, the following year, with Jimmy Claussen on his back, his numbers were far worse. Not sure what happened to him in the offseason. So, I'm a bit encouraged, if he can be Matt Moore of 2009, we might have something here. If he can average 200 yards, 1.6 TD's and 0.2 INT per game with the Dolphins, I'd take that! Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: Doc-phin on October 06, 2011, 07:38:31 pm If you don't want to suck for luck, there is definately legit reason to be encouraged about Moore taking over. I also know a lot of people in the Charlotte area and they also liked Moore coming out of the 2009 season. Nobody really seemed to be able to explain the horrible start in 2010, but I will try and ask a friend that is knowledgable about the game (and team) again.
That team just sucked bad last year. They purged a bunch of players and Fox scaled things back too far from what I recall. I will see what I can find out. Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: MikeO on October 06, 2011, 08:23:23 pm Moore had 2 big injuries last year. Never rebounded from either. Concussion Week 1 had to leave the game, he played week 2 and was so god awful the team benched him for a month. They gave him the job back in October and he injured his shoulder and went on IR.
He isn't consistent and not very good. Maybe slightly better than Henne but that ain't saying much. Another career back-up being forced to start. We have seen this before in Miami Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: mecadonzilla on October 06, 2011, 09:51:06 pm I think that's pretty much all we've had in Miami since Marino retired.
Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: tepop84 on October 06, 2011, 10:00:36 pm Moore isn't going to be very good. I would rather have Thigpen still here.

Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: Doc-phin on October 07, 2011, 10:21:06 am Talked to my friend in Charlotte. He said that the O-line in Carolina was an absolute disaster last year. "Matt Moore got killed and had no chance to do anything" is what he said.
Does this mean anything? Not much, but a little. Our O-line isn't protecting very good, but better than the Panthers did so we will have to see. He also said that everyone was really excited about Moore for 2010 and thought he was suprisingly good. I wouldn't get excited about anything, but the guy does have a history of pushing the ball downfield more than anyone we have had for a long time. So far from preseason till now, he has demonstrated aggressiveness and hasn't really made bad decisions. It will be interesting, especially if the receivers don't let him down. Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: badger6 on October 07, 2011, 10:26:43 am Moore isn't going to be very good. I would rather have Thigpen still here. Yea, the Thigpen trade is looking like a mistake at this point. He might have done well with the new OC. Maybe not, but I would rather have him also at this point !!! Thigpen, Moore....whatever....lacklust re, unexciting SHIT QB...period! I haven't seen Moore play. But having said that, out of Henne, Thigpen, or Moore. I think Thigpen with his running ability and gunslinger mentality would be the most exciting out of the 3............ Maybe not, but I would rather have him also at this point !!! To be clear, he wasn't traded and he really didn't seem to want to stay here. I get the impression he wanted to get back to Chan Gailey (sp?), due to familiarity, and was hoping Fitzpatrick wouldn't pan out. But I am with you. I was a Thigpen supporter. I also wouldn't be shocked if Buffalo would be willing to trade him to us. Even in division, I don't think they would consider him to be so good that he wouldn't be worth a trade for a need. Not that I think this will happen, just that it is possible. Now that Fitzpatrick seems to be the guy, Thigpen may be willing to come back to Miami for a chance to start. Shit as far as I'm concerned the season is over anyhow. We couldn't get that lucky though, ha ha..... Title: Re: The Real Matt Moore Post by: Spider-Dan on October 07, 2011, 12:36:18 pm Matt Moore has a strong history of willing his team to the #1 overall pick.
That's the kind of leadership I'm looking for right now.
