Title: Lets say....
Post by: Frimp on November 22, 2011, 05:02:20 pm
....Matt Moore finishes the season the way he has played the past 3 games. What would you like most to see happen?

A-The Phins sign him to a contract and the starting job is his going into preseason, but they still take a QB with the #1 pick with the oppourtunity to compete for the starting job
B-Cut him anyway
C-Keep him as a backup and give the rookie QB with the #1 pick the starting job going into preseason with Moore having to compete to get it back
D-Other

I gotta go with A. It addresses the QB needs, and gives us a good QB with a young insurance policy.

Matt Moore:  5 years - $60 million dollars..I'm tellin ya, it's coming

But anyways..I believe Moore is on a 2 year contract so it gives a perfect situation for Miami to draft a QB in the first round.

So I guess I'm going with a modified version of A (no need to sign Moore to a contract)

^^

I thought they signed him to a 1 year contract. My bad.

No worries.. Just googled, it was a 2 year $5 million deal

A is the only smart choice.  The guy is having a good year, he has shown (twice) that he has some skills.  Why would you just cut him?  That would be dumb.

Matt Moore as of today is playing his way into training camp next year as a member of this team. If he flames out the final month or so I could see our new coach and GM just getting rid of him though very easily. Not like its a huge cap hit.

Moore has to show he deserves to hang around. 3 good games in his career doesn't mean you have a roster spot locked up. He has to keep proving it. It's easy to look at these last 3 games but you also can't forget the 4th quarter of the Giants game, where he lost that game himself by doing NOTHING in that 4th quarter with the lead. I think we had 4 yards that entire quarter or something and Moore was beyond awful. I will have to double check but it was really really bad that 4th quarter he had

I agree.  To take it a step further, I'd be totally content with Matt Moore starting next  year ONLY if there is a first round rookie QB, second on the depth chart

If we draft a QB in Rd 1 he plays day 1. To sit him is counter-productive. There is lockout or anything so given a full training camp and mini-camps you play the kid. Let him take his lumps in a rebuilding year anyway and go from there.

Matt Moore can ride the pine next year.

Ok well either way, Matt Moore should be on the roster next year.  The starter remains to be seen

I agree. This is the only real option at this point and of course if he continues to play at a productive level for the remainder of the season. I do want them to bring in competition for him next year hopefully through the draft and not another re-tread QB.

I know everyone is going to hate me for saying this but I'd like to see Henne back next year to compete for the starting QB spot.  funny how Matt Moore  looks soo good and no one sees that the receivers are now starting to catch the football.  Also to note,  we now have an offensive line.   notice how our rushing yardage went up.    we can now use Fasano and Bush to our advantage.  Why did this not happen in the first of the season?  You put Henne on this team and he would look just as good if not better that Matt Moore.

my .02

LOL, Henne was the reason that the receivers couldn't catch the ball.  Henne sucks, and will be out of the league soon.

Henne is awful. He was playing bad before he got hurt. He was bad in 2010. He was bad in 2009. Seen enough!

Even Henne said a couple weeks back in the Sun Sentinel or Herald that he can't wait to test free agency for the first time. He doesn't want to come back!

I like Henne. He was starting to look good before he got hurt. However, I doubt he will be resigned. I think he will go somewhere else and do well.

I would say the smart move would be D.

If Matt Moore is playing well...use the draft pick to draft a player in another position that would improve the team, extend Moore and with the 2nd or 3rd round pick draft a back up QB.  ;)

But I would prefer the Dolphins use their first round pick on a player that sits on the bench and has no postive impact on the team so A.  >:D

Honestly, the most likely of scenarios  :(

Definitely A. I wouldn't take a QB in the 1st round. We're not picking 1st anyways. Moore has earned the starting job. He comes in halfway through the year and out performs the starter.

Moore has NOT earned the starting job I am sorry to burst your bubble. He has earned a chance to return next year to compete to make this team. IF the new coach/GM want him too. That's it

Not drafting a QB in the 1st round? That seems a bit silly for a team that hasn't done that in ages and has about 15 or so QBs since Marino.

I think the Dolphins should def keep him. Draft a QB in the 1st round, but maybe even start Moore next season if he continues to play good. He's not bad, and if he struggles then start the rookie QB, but i wouldnt start the rookie first game in case he needs more time to develop. U dont wanna start a rookie and if he plays bad, bench him, cuz that will hurt him in the long run. We've seen more success with rookies sitting out at first and then start later in the season if necessary or after year or two. Look at A.Rodgers, Drew Brees, T.Brady, S.Young, Big Ben....I mean I know there are exceptions with Stafford, Ryan, Newton, but it never hurts the guy if he sits out few games early in his career rather than just throwing him out there. There's def more success for rookie QBs when they sit out at first and learn the game.

Well, I'm sorry that you can't see what the man is able to do when he has time to throw. It doesn't matter who is taking the snaps, if the right side of the line can't block.
