Title: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: miamid45 on December 13, 2011, 04:53:00 pm What if?.......We could acquire Manning, with let's say our #1 pick or hell even our whole draft?
Would you do this and once Manning was a Fin, could we lure a Tony Dungy back to Florida for another Super Bowl run, especially after signing Reggie Wayne as our FA prize. Would the pieces be there...would we have the cap room? Any thoughts...probably will get lambasted for this dream, but with the past few horrible seasons fresh on my memory, it doesn't hurt to dream, does it? Imagine: Manning Bush Thomas Marshall Wayne ...an offence to rival the Pats, but with a defence superior to the Pats. Dungy -vs Belichek...wouldn't Miami football rock next season? Nobody has to trade for Manning. He will be a FA! Indy can't trade him. They either pay him $28 mill which is due before the league year starts or they cut him before the league year starts. Trading can only happen ONCE the league year starts so it is NOT even an option. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: masterfins on December 15, 2011, 01:04:21 pm I'm probably one of the few on here that wants P. Manning. All you have to do is look at the 2011 Colts and see what a game changer this guy is. I heard today that Manning is "throwing", it will be interesting to see what Indy does.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: Cathal on December 15, 2011, 01:14:40 pm I'd take Peyton in a heartbeat until we can find the right QB.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: dolfan13 on December 15, 2011, 01:18:22 pm for some reason i see manning playing for the jets next year.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: Diehard_Dolfan on December 15, 2011, 01:20:07 pm I don't like the Manning, Wayne idea one bit!
Bring Manning here for what one or two maybe three yrs and we're right back to post Marino era Dolphins... trying to find another franchise QB! ??? I like Manning and Wayne but both are towards the twilight of their careers... I'd like to see RG3 here but doubt that happens. I do like the idea of Tony Dungy though! ;D I can't say I like any choice as our next coach other than Dungy or Cower... I'm not sold on Fisher. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: EKnight on December 15, 2011, 01:55:07 pm Dream? Not hardly. I have no desire to see a 36-year-old QB who has been hurt the past two seasons. The guy had a cervical fusion of one joint, which also means he had an intervertebral disc removed with the fusion. That's not like scoping a knee or even repairing a labrum or ACL/MCL tear. That's major surgery. No chance he's the same QB he was slinging the ball all over Indy. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. -EK
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: Phishfan on December 15, 2011, 02:07:50 pm Manning's health scares the crap out of me. I say pass on acquiring him.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: Dave Gray on December 15, 2011, 04:20:41 pm I wouldn't trade a Kit-Kat for Manning. ...much less a 1st round pick. ...much, much less an entire draft.

Kit-Kats might be the most underrated candy Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: jtex316 on December 16, 2011, 11:41:49 am Peyton Manning will NEVER EVER EVER play for the Miami Dolphins. EVER. Period.
Is that clear enough for you guys? It's not even known at this point if he will even play again, period. In case you missed it: Quote Peyton Manning will NEVER EVER EVER play for the Miami Dolphins. EVER. Period. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: dolfan13 on December 16, 2011, 02:06:56 pm peyton manning will be released if anything. his contract makes it impossible to trade him.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: miamid45 on December 18, 2011, 01:04:51 pm Never say never....(jtex)
Anyone ever thought it possible for Montana or Favre to leave their teams? Indy will go the route ala Green Bay, drafting Luck and unloading Manning...maybe not next season, but it will happen. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: BigDaddyFin on December 18, 2011, 01:14:03 pm He may leave his team, and don't get me wrong I would have loved to have him in a Dolphin uniform, but the odds on what you speak of are low and I don't want Manning to risk his image much the same as Unitas did by putting on that San Diego uniform.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: el diablo on December 18, 2011, 04:12:54 pm No way do you sacrifice the no. 1 pick or rest of you draft for a QB with a bad neck.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: jtex316 on December 20, 2011, 01:47:08 pm Never say never....(jtex) Anyone ever thought it possible for Montana or Favre to leave their teams? Indy will go the route ala Green Bay, drafting Luck and unloading Manning...maybe not next season, but it will happen. Never. There are 15 other teams that Peyton Manning would play for before playing for Miami. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: Diehard_Dolfan on December 20, 2011, 02:06:04 pm Never. But the question is will those other 15 teams ask Manning to play for them? There are 15 other teams that Peyton Manning would play for before playing for Miami. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 20, 2011, 03:10:05 pm I wouldn't mind seeing Peyton come to Miami.
1. I think he is washed up. 2. Brady vs. Manning twice a year would be fun. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 20, 2011, 03:27:00 pm BTW here is a name none of you have bounced around.
Drew Brees is a FA. If I was a GM of a poorly QBed team, that is the player I would be targeting, not Manning. Or Alex Smith of SF. Another good option would be Matt Flynn, back up for the Packers. In his one game as a starter he looked very good against NE. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: MaineDolFan on December 20, 2011, 09:55:34 pm Drew Brees will never see the light of FA day.
I would take Manning any day of the week. Anyone who says different is smoking crack. I seem to recall the "Montana will never play for another team" talk at one time as well. Funny how things change. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: Spider-Dan on December 21, 2011, 01:02:51 am The QB who finishes his career with one team is a rare beast. Hasselbeck, McNabb, Favre, McNair, Warner, and Bledsoe are all recent examples of franchise, Super Bowl QBs that were sent packing.

Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 21, 2011, 11:15:23 am You don't think Brees will be franchise tagged if the Saints can't work something out! Hello! He has stated he won't sign it. While no doubt he would be tagged. Open question as to whether it would be exclusive or non-exclusive. If non-exclusive he has the right to negotiate with other teams, if he is willing to do a long term deal he is worth 2 first. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? I find it almost impossible he won't. They will match any deal when forced. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: tubba marxxx on December 21, 2011, 10:49:54 pm Miami would pass on Drew Brees a third time. No doubt in my mind.

Why would they play for another team, they are all retired! ::) Plus I thought we were talking about Brees! Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: tepop84 on December 22, 2011, 07:17:27 pm Montana, Bledsoe, Warner, Favre, etc all aren't ever going to play for different team either. Warner was pretty terrible for a couple years. when the rams got rid of him he sucked, same with the giants. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 22, 2011, 07:20:28 pm Why would they play for another team, they are all retired! ::) I think you missed the point. At one time Bledsoe was the face of the NEP, no way was in going else where. At one time Montana was the face of the 49rs, no way was in going else where. At one time Favre was the face of the Packers, no way was in going else where. etc. Brees means no more to NO, than Montana meant to the 49ers. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? It makes zero sense. The 49ers had a legit back-up to Montana at the time. They could in the pre-salary cap era. Those days are over. Get Bledsoe out of this debate. He never was in the same class as any of the other guys. GB had drafted Favre's replacement and if Favre didn't go back and forth on retiring and un-retiring, he would have finished in GB probably. Unique situation to say the least! Favre screwed over the team, that's why he left. He couldn't give them a straight answer every offseason till they finally got fed up with him. Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: miamid45 on January 31, 2012, 10:27:57 pm Peyton Manning will NEVER EVER EVER play for the Miami Dolphins. EVER. Will be playing elsewhere next season...hopefully with us!
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: el diablo on February 01, 2012, 09:46:07 am Manning playing somewhere else almost has the Apollo Creed fighting Drago feel. With the rest of the league saying, "I must break you.' Peyton is too expensive of a risk. Especially with there being talk of him might not even being able to play next year. He has a family now. If the Colts release him he will/should retire.
Title: Re: A Dream turn of events in 2012? Post by: miamid45 on February 20, 2012, 06:29:53 pm Hearing Seahawks also interested? If only we knew Flynn was for real?
