Title: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: jtex316 on December 19, 2011, 03:31:21 pm Dolphins Fans, this is not a joke. I hope that - if your boy Stephen Ross has any clue whatsoever - that Todd Bowles is hired as full-time head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Not so much for yesterday's win (which is a nice boost), but also because: 1. He is not a big name / big dollar / big ego head coach 2. He is not "The Next Don Shula" (a good thing) 3. He is young 4. He is hungry 5. He has (most likely) fresh ideas / concepts 6. Will provide a smooth transition with Jeff Ireland situation (regardless of if he is retained or fired) 7. Already knows the players and the organization 8. Players (from what I've been reading online) seem to like him 9. He is a relatively unknown so he can fly under the radar (there is no need for a "big splash" hire) 10. The organization will not only save costs by immediately stopping their coaching search, they will not have to deal with the stupid Rooney Rule. Unfortunately, Ross is an idiot so expect Bowles to be terminated or not given a fair shake, which will land him as the next coach of the Rams or Chargers where he will make multiple playoff appearances while the Dolphins hire Jim Mora Jr. to go 8-8 the next 3 seasons. Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: Frimp on December 19, 2011, 06:26:44 pm I was thinking about how we are 2-0 in the first week of interim coaches. lol I was actually thinkiing I wanted Ross to keep Bowles. Holy crap, I agree with Jtex.
Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: Dave Gray on December 19, 2011, 07:03:34 pm I agree. I think the guy deserves a shot for the reasons that JTex listed. Particularly, he's even-keel, professional, and calls plays with a little more oomph than we've seen. However, it's just one game. We'll see, but I'm all for giving him a fair shot, instead of the next kingmaker.

If he beats the Jets and the Patriots in a convincing fashion, you have to give him some consideration. Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 20, 2011, 12:22:50 pm I like the idea if for no other reason....
If the Dolphins hire him and start off 2-6, we will see signs with pictures of toilet bowls and stating that T Bowles = Toilet Bowl. Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: BigDaddyFin on December 20, 2011, 08:48:25 pm He's worth a look, in much the same way that looking back on it, they should have taken a longer look at Jim Bates.
Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: Phishfan on December 21, 2011, 09:46:54 am ^^^ I disagree completely. Jim Bates was so vanilla he didn't even come with the vanilla beans in the ice cream. We had lots of talent, but very little scheme. I think his "success" was carried by the talent we had on defense rather than him doing much to improve the team.
Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: BigDaddyFin on December 21, 2011, 10:31:34 am ^^^ Yes but the whole Nick Saban disaster also could have been avoided.
Title: Re: I am rooting for Todd Bowles Post by: Dave Gray on December 21, 2011, 11:50:16 am Yeah, I wasn't for keeping Bates. He was an overseer at a time when the team was just playing better.
