Fisher was willing to meet halfway on personnel control, but Ross wouldn't budge. He's an Ireland man. And now Fisher is headed for The Lou from @MichaelSilver Stl_fin_fan knew Fisher was going to coach her team,or her husbands....Kind of a win,win if she liked Fisher... Thanks for the link Az... :) Title: Re: Jeff Fisher to the Rams Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on January 13, 2012, 02:24:46 pm ^^^^
I was just reading the same stuff on Twitter about Ross being an Ireland fan and that is why we lost out. "This was Miami's game to lose, and Ross decided he wanted his current GM to retain his current level of power. So the Rams got their man." - Mike Silver "If you are a Dolphins fan, and you want to know WHY: You have an owner who very much wants Jeff Ireland to retain control over the roster" - Mike Silver This makes me sick....Ireland sucks......he must have some serious dirt on Ross or Ross really is just that much of a dumbass!!!!!! To quote Lil B on his Cubs rant a few months ago: "We're way beyond Ireland having pictures of Ross in Vegas with prostitutes type blackmail. We're in the neighborhood of Ireland knowing about people in Biscayne Bay with concrete shoes that Ross put there type blackmail" Title: Re: Jeff Fisher to the Rams Post by: Doc-phin on January 13, 2012, 03:45:26 pm Fisher was just playing us to get a better deal with the Rams. That's my take.
Do we play them this year? Hope we stomp their asses if we do. Wait till Fisher gets a whiff of how crappy that team is and how much further ahead the rest of his division has gotten. Now its Billick or Zimmer, I suppose. Title: Re: Jeff Fisher to the Rams Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on January 13, 2012, 03:51:04 pm Fisher was just playing us to get a better deal with the Rams. Ever been there? Trust me, its a dump.
The only thing I fear is that our ridiculously negative fan base is killing our chances at a good coach. It seems like a majority (although it may not be an actual majority) of Dolphins fans won't be satisfied until our team wins 3 consecutive superbowls. Seriously though, they jump on the organization for every little thing. It is out of hand. Even the media is ridiculous. Did anybody read the completely irresponsible rant by Mike Baradino about Jeff Fisher holding us hostage? It was an article of start to finish sarcasm and totally off putting. If I were Fisher, that article alone would have been enough to get me thinking "what the hell is going on down there". Found the article. This doesn't seem to make a lot of sense because Fisher and Ireland have worked together before, so I don't see how this would have been a sticking point. I'm sure something could have been worked out.
The facts are that Miami lost out on another bid to get a coach. I think the rumors that people don't want to work for Ross have more substance than the rumors that people don't want to work with Ireland. What?Title: Re: Jeff Fisher to the Rams Post by: Doc-phin on January 13, 2012, 03:59:30 pm Um, yeah I lived there for a couple years. What exactly are you referring to? The city? The team? What? I think the rumors that people don't want to work for Ross have more substance than the rumors that people don't want to work with Ireland. Again, assumption, but I think it was really an excuse for Fisher to use. I think he is just afraid of our low ticket sales and the challenge of beating the Patriots for the division that kept him from coming. When you don't sell tickets and can't win the division it puts a lot of pressure on the HC. Title: Re: Jeff Fisher to the Rams Post by: Pappy13 on January 13, 2012, 04:06:21 pm The city. Well I've lived in Illinois and been to Chicago on numerous occassions. I now live in Dallas and have been to Houston and Dallas on numerous occassions. I lived in St. Louis for a couple years and didn't really notice a difference between St. Louis, Chicago, Houston and Dallas. All of them have their nice parts and their less nice parts. We did get turned around in East St. Louis one time and drove through a pretty bad area of town, but I've also been to several Cardinal games downtown and where the Rams and Blues play and I've been to the arch and it's rather nice actually, so not really sure what you're on about.Title: Re: Jeff Fisher to the Rams Post by: Doc-phin on January 13, 2012, 04:22:29 pm Well I've lived in Illinois and been to Chicago on numerous occassions. I found it overall very dull with a few nice spots and far more crappy spots. Nothing special in that city, although I really did like the Budweiser Brewery. The arch is iconic but its just an arch with a little museum underneath. I have been there several times and have no interest in going back. Nothing against the people that live there, but it is pretty low on my list of places in America I would like to live. If you disagree with the use of the term "shithole", I can roll with that. But I am surprised you are high on it. I wouldn't say I was high on it, but I certainly didn't think of it as substandard in any way. The people of St. Louis are actually some of the nicest people I've ever met. Course I didn't actually live IN St. Louis, I lived in a suburb northwest of St. Louis called St. Charles and it was known for it's historic downtown area on the river. Historic downtown has brick streets with a bunch of shops that line both sides and they have several "celebrations" a year there that are well known and people come from all over to visit. There's a park that runs along the river with some nice bicycles and walking trails etc. They shoot off fireworks across the river on 4th of july and have a nice festival there with a large carnival. Very nice. There's even a couple of nice Casino's there on the river if you enjoy a little gambling. As far as amenities downtown go, Cardinals stadium is fairly new and it's one of the nicer ball parks that I've been to, not that I've been to that many. The museum under the Arch that you mentioned is underground and it's actually pretty cool, how long ago were you there, perhaps they have updated it? The Arch itself is pretty cool to go up in and look out over the river. I found it FAR more enjoyeable than going up in Sears tower in Chicago for example which I did when I visited there. Maybe you just have to live there to get a better idea of what there is to do and see. We drove into downtown St. Louis all the time just to eat at some favorite restaurants and such. It's very easy to get into and out of, not like some bigger cities I've been to like Chicago and Houston where traffic is a nightmare. All in all, it's a nice city. Not the greatest, but certainly not a "shithole". St. Charles is the nicest place in St. Louis I know of. I didn't care much for the casinos but the historic downtown was nice, though fairly small from memory. The people were just fine and don't take my comment as an implication on them. I won't say anything more as a negative on the city. I have a lot of reasons for my comment and could go through them, but there is no benefit to that. My main point is that I think Fisher is settling and by a good bit. I doubt "weather" and/or "nightlife" is very often a factor in a person deciding if they want to coach an NFL team or not. It is a strong plus for Miami over pretty much any other NFL team. But rarely a factor. |
