Title: School flunks first amendment.

I recall a private New Orleans school sent home a student for wearing a Colts jersey before the superbowl.  But that was a private school.  I thought that was increadably stupid, but legal.

Public school different story.  Not only stupid, but illegal.

The student was free to make a choice.  Wear purple and attend or don't wear purple and don't attend.

Where is the loss of freedom?  He isn't being obstructed from his education.  It was a pep rally.

It is being held during the school day.  After school I would agree.

Either it is an educational activity that the students are being barred from, or it is not an educational activity and has no place in the school day.

It seems pretty clearly unconstitutional to me.

I don't know why school are stupid about this kind of shit.  Can't you foresee that this is going to be a problem for you and give your school negative attention?

I'm so glad that you weren't our school's principal. No offense.

Why?  I would let you wear your Dolphin jersey the day they played against the Patriots.

This doesn't seem like it's a problem. This is sponsored by the Ravens so they can dictate who can attend.

I'm not sure this is as big an issue as it is being made out here. The Ravens did not dictate anyone wear purple as insinuated, it also does not appear to be the school's policy either. Before the event even happened the school principle was saying all kids would be included. This appears to have been the work of a few overzealous people and was not policy at all.
