Title: NFL and Nike
Post by: tubba marxxx on January 24, 2012, 01:52:12 pm
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/24/if-buying-nfl-jerseys-before-april-buyer-beware/

You may remember seeing this last year:  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/977423-possible-new-nike-uniforms

I hope to God the jerseys look NOTHING like the second link I posted.  They're all hideous.

I like those kinds of Unis.  The Oregon Ducks have had some really cool ones.  I'd like to see a really crazy ALT uni for each team, once a year.

Those jerseys (on the second link) are fake and old.  I saw them about two years ago.

they came out last year once the news broke about Nike possibly taking over the NFL jerseys (which is now official) in 2012.  However, yes those are fake.  The "drastic" changes that Nike is referring to (as I've now found out) is the "performance" from the jerseys.  Lighter material, different ventilation patterns, etc etc.  Nothing would be changing towards the logos and color schemes though.

In other words, this is a now a non-story, but at the time it sounded a lot worse.

Nike made the uniforms before reebok. They looked the same then as they do now. I doubt much will change. -EK

^^ before reebok, every team was able to license their own jerseys to companies like nike, reebok, adidas, and puma.

Only the teams can determine what their uniforms and logos look like, not the jersey-making company.

I just hope Nike brings the price of NFL replica's back down to "affordable" like they used to be.  $80 for a replica jersey is ridiculous.

Serious! The reason I quit buying jerseys. Insane, it's a REPLICA for cryin out loud! That, and the fact that Miami hasn't had a significant player whose jersey I've wanted in forever.

As long as you know they're probably all fakes, then that's a great deal.

LOL!!!!!

Minor details, nobody ever notices that stuff.  Nobody can tell my #34 Tom Brady jersey is fake.

That was the point...it was a joke. My Wake is #91. Looks like the real thing, tags, etc on it when I got it. That's good enough for me! -EK

Exactly.  If you do a quick google search of "nfl wholesale jerseys" you can find a wide variety of "authentic" jerseys for a much more reasonable price.  they kill you with shipping, but it usually factors out about $60 when it's all said and done for something that looks and feels like the real thing.

$60 for a knockoff > $300 for the real thing or $80 for a replica IMO

Well, when I exit my chauffeured driven, stretch Navigator at the front gate; I wouldn't be caught dead in anything less than authentic.  ;D
