I had this feeling from the onset of the sweepstakes.

Another optimistic adventure turns into failure. Oh well, maybe Flynn will pan out.

Sounds like he never considered them and the Fins went and had Marino beg him to give them a meeting.

Now Flynn is in Seattle and reports are he might not even make a trip to Miami. Seattle might lock him up today. We will see I guess.

Dolphins are "low-balling" Matt Flynn http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/16/report-dolphins-make-low-ball-offer-to-matt-flynn/

They got $2 mill on a 1 year deal for back-up o-linemen Art Hicks but will get cheap on a starting QB. Unreal. This franchise is a trainwreck through and through

It's funny that none of this surprises me...  It seems we're always a bit slow or a step behind! They pretty much placed our eggs all in one basket and when that basket is crushed, so are our hopes!   I would have liked if we made a play on Jason Campbell with he and Matt Moore than doing what we've done so far, which is nothing!  Well, I'm done trying to hope for miracles!

I'm going to sit back and watch what ever unfolds.... it's kinda how I've done with the Hurricanes.  You watch other teams make moves every Yr...and wonder why your team doesn't seem to be making any splashes... You figure they know something you don't... but in the end you realize they maybe just as clueless as you!

I'm just pissed right now... been a Dolfan my entire life (45 yrs) and I've never felt as hopeless as I do now!  I didn't feel this way even during the 1-15 season. smh...

^^^ You missed the word "potential" in front of the words starting QB. Matt Flynn would be a prospect. People are anointing him with honors he has not earned yet.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Manning is overplaying his hand.  Taking a tour of multiple teams, coming off a missed season with potential questions on how well he will be when he returns, only a few years left, etc.  He knew this was coming so he should have had a pretty good idea of where he wanted to play, and how much he wanted to make.  It seems he is aimlessly wandering from place to place, leaving a lot of teams hanging.  Teams are moving on without him, leaving the remaining teams in a better bargaining position.

As oppose to Luck or RG3 who have rightly earned such honors?

He is going to get between $90-$100 mill contract from someone. I think he played things just fine. The teams that "moved on" there the teams he didn't want to go to anyway (Miami and Arizona)

But Peyton's statement a month ago about playing for little or no guaranteed money was total BS and a crock of you know what! Now he is holding out for the highest offer between his final 3 teams.

Now he is holding out for the highest offer between his final 3 teams.

I don't doubt that money will be a good part of what he's after, but I think that a couple of other factors are also weighing heavily on his decision...

1) How much leeway he thinks he'll have in dictating the offense (supposedly a factor with SF)
2) Possibility of getting to another Super Bowl (could be a factor with Tenn & Den)

From this 49ers fan's perspective, I'd love to see Peyton Manning spend the next couple of seasons under center for my beloved Niners. I think we have an outstanding O-line to protect him, solid playmakers on offense support him, and a defense that is badass enough to take the football away and give him more opportunities to put points on the board. I hate to see it come to this for Alex Smith, who has been the model of professionalism despite being given very little stability - but a shit-ton of criticism - for most of his time in SF.

If Alex Smith is the 49ers QB next season, I'm hoping for a Super Bowl.
If a healthy Peyton Manning is the 49ers QB, I'm expecting it.

I think that's optimistic, but not realistic. Who's he going to throw to? Moss? Ginn? The league is going to get better at covering the TE, so I don't expect Davis to be open with any regularity. I mean, hey, the Niners are better than Miami with or without him, but I don't think if he goes there San Fran should "expect" a Super Bowl. The guy is one of the best QB's EVER in the history of the sport, and he only won ONE in Indy with a much better group of receivers and a better TE. -EK
