Title: Anyone else think we may end up with Tebow?
Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 17, 2012, 09:12:37 pm
-Manning to Denver? Pretty likely.
-Flynn to Seattle? Certain reports say he signed already, but if he didn't he could sign with the way Miami is lowballing him.

All the other teams in the hunt for Manning already have a Plan B like Arizona with Kolb, Titans with Locker and Niners with Smith. So, that leaves Denver with Tebow as a backup. What are the odds our star struck owner sees Tebow is available and trades for him?

Like an NCAA bracket, a lot of things need to line up, but none of them are too far fetched.

Nope. If Flynn goes to Seattle, I expect Miami to take Tannehill at #8 and start Moore this year. With the way they are handling Flynn, I don't really think that Philbin is sold on him and Tannehill has ties to Sherman. It's risky because Tannehill might not fall to 8, but with the extra picks they got they could also try to swing a deal to move up a couple picks to get him.

Tannehill won't be there at 8. Cleveland and Buffalo both want him. If Miami wants him need to trade picks to get up to #3. Philbin has NO control over Flynn coming here. Ireland has final say on the roster. Total control over roster matters. Philbin can beg for Flynn, if Ireland doesn't want to pay Flynn a few more bucks to seal the deal, Philbin can do nothing about it.

If the Fins lose Flynn and Manning goes to Denver....Tebow to Miami wouldn't shock me in the least. Ross is nuts and only cares about filled stadiums and media attention. Tebow would bring both.

Exactly my point. I didn't say it would be a good idea or that I even wanted it, but it's not as far fetched as it seems once you analyze it.

If Manning goes to Denver than Denver has an extra "franchise QB" on their hands that will do them no good as a backup. Miami will probably not be able to draft a QB, so there options are stick with Matt Moore or do something stupid like trade a first rounder for Tebow.

Of course, assuming Flynn goes to Seattle.

Please no anything but Tebow that would officially be the last  straw for me.

Word around the office all week is that Tebow will be a dolphin next year.

NO WAY is Tebow a Dolphin this year.  Well maybe, IF we can't find a decent backup QB.

You dont play with fire at the starting QB position. Even if Miami signs Flynn now they clearly don't view him as "the guy" and if Tannehill is there at #8 I expect Miami drafts him to double down at that position. Moore in the final year of his contract would fetch a 6th or 7th round pick probably. Should Miami go with a Flynn/Tannehill combo.

No way Tebow plays in Miami.

Flynn just signed with Seattle
Alex Smith goes back to SF
Manning goes to Denver

Miami needs a QB.  Tebow will be available via Trade.  Never say Never!

I'd get him if you moved him to a differen position, but I doubt that would fly.

He just led a team to the 2nd round of the playoffs, he isn't changing positions. Come on guys, he's a QB. A bad one, but he isn't changing positions.

Believe me, I seriously doubt he would change positions. I'm just saying that if he was willing to move to TE or HB then I'd sign him in a heartbeat.

I don't get the Tebow hate.

The Dolphins have won the AFCE exactly once in the past decade. The year they ran the wildcat.

And everyone from that Wildcat team who was essential to it is gone. Sparano, Lee, Henning, Ronnie.

The pieces are all lining up.

Of course, I think I would prefer Tebow over Alex Smith. At least Tebow may briefly cheer up the lockerroom with his perpetual smile and Jesus stuff. Alex Smith will drive them to suicide.

My sources have confirmed Timmy Time will be in South Beach next year.  Ross can't help himself with the intrigue of Tebow's star power down in FLA.

Are we not already a big enough joke in the league?

I mean really!

How much more of a circus would bringing Tebow to Miami cause?    They need to change the teams name to the Miami Keystone Cops... Or the Miami "Who's on 1st?" Dolphins!

..you know this is getting sad. I cant believe the Dolphins cant do business like that. They cant get anyone they want, and why the F*** would u trade Marshall, we got no offense as it is, Marshall didnt have the best season but he was the best player we had. I dunno WTF Jeff Ireland is doing but its really pissin me off. Everyone knows you cant win in this league without a QB so until they realize that and pay up we're screwed. And with no offensive weapons anyone that comes in will struggle, thats why I dont understand why get rid of B.Marshall, we needed him.

I think getting Tebow would cap off the anti-perfect offseason.

Particularly if Miami traded away something like two firsts to get him.

I don't think it would be 2 first rounders, but I can definitely see our 2012 first rounder and maybe a conditional 3rd round pick too because the team is asinine.

this would suck so bad.  I love Tebow for various reasons and I think he adds an element to wherever he goes. I just don't want him to play QB in Miami. I'm OK wiht Jacksonville but would be disappointed if he were to land in Miami.

Then again, with the circus that would come with him at least it would give me a reason to pay attention this year.  :-\

If the Dolphins trade for Tebow, I'm out.  Done.  I'll come back when Ross sells the team.  Period.

Sadly, I believe that it is a lock to happen, due to Manning in contract talks with Denver right now, and Dolphins desperate for sign SOMEONE.  It gives Ross what he wants (Gator homers to come to games, buy jerseys, etc) and gives the Dolphins some relevance for about 2 weeks.

And what's worse is that they will give away a first and likely the third they got for Marshall to get him.

I'm out.  Done.  I won't give Stephen Ross another red cent of my money.

Please, oh please, let JAX trade for Tebow.

Brian, you're a lying liar and you know it.  You will accept this inevitable Tebow trade and be rooting for the Dolphins on week 1, just like the rest of us suckers.  If you can root for Chad Pennington, you can root for Tim Tebow.

Oh, and if your trade prediction is correct, that means that we will have traded Brandon Marshall and a first for Tim Tebow and a third.

FUCKING FIRE IRELAND

Reports have Manning signing with the Broncos and Tebow on the trading block.  Not in love with Tebow one bit, but definitely would get some fans in the stands.....

Tebow.  This would be my worst football nightmare come true.  I couldn't bear to watch my beloved Dolphins if they trade for this supreme douche and his "Let me find a big open spot away from everyone else on the field so the cameras will zoom in on me while I pray" bullcrap.  Dear Tim:  Religion is like a penis.  It is fine to have one.  It is even okay to be proud of it.  But stop whipping it out in public and for god's sake, stop shoving it down people's throats.

Title: Re: Tebow time?

He would put people in the stands until people get sick of him throwing 3 or 4 picks per game, with 5 completed passes for a grand total of 90 yards.  By the 4th home game, the stands will be even more empty than usual.

Like him as a person and respect the fact he tries hard not to turn the ball over, but I don't want him.  I am amazed he won as many games as he did last year.  I don't think he can keep it going.

I also don't think he can get us past the Patriots and that kind of showed in his game against them last year.

This is looking like the likely scenario.  I'm not for it, but for a 3rd round pick...why not?

IF they give our number one pick, then management is truly clueless!

Basically it would be Marshall for Tebow and a 3rd round pick....not great, but then that's Ireland..(that's if we get him for one of our 3rds?)

If the trade is for Miami's 1st than the Broncos raped you.  If the trade is a 3 round you raped the Broncos. He is worth a pick in the 25-50 range.

as a player, he's worth a 5th or 6th round pick

as a media circus that comes with him, he's not worth a hot dog and a bag of Ruffles

If the trade is for Miami's 1st than the Broncos raped you.  If the trade is a 3 round you raped the Broncos. He is worth a pick in the 25-50 range.

I like how chiseled in stone that sounds...but you're not dealing in stone, you're dealing with a human being, and the nearly infinite variables that come with him. If Tebow came to Miami for a 3rd round pick and he sets new marks for QB suckitude, then that 3rd round pick may be considered as raping us as well. If we give up a first rounder and he plays like Joe Montana, then we raped them, despite the first round price. I see the former as being much more likely than the latter...

Frankly, what I'd like to see is:

* Miami keeping Moore under center for this season
* Do everything possible to build draft trade assets for the 2013 draft. Trade Miami's early second rounder this season to some team willing to give up their first rounder for next season. That sort of trading.
* Suck badly enough this season (Miami appears to be on course for this already) that, with the extra draft assets from the second point above, Miami can maneuver into position to make a legitimate play for Matt Barkley in the 2013 draft.

(edited for a 3rd grade caliber typo)

Title: Re: Anyone else think we may end up with Tebow?
Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on March 19, 2012, 03:18:23 pm
^^^ that can be said of any trade.  Based on what we have seen from him in Denver he ain't worth a high 1st round pick, but at the same time he is worth more than a 3rd.

Title: Re: Anyone else think we may end up with Tebow?

You may have to talk me off of the ledge if Tebow is brought to Miami. That was my first thought when reports came out that Denver would be trading him.....he is coming to Miami because Ross knows it will sell some tickets. At this point with as bad as they have screwed up this off-season they need to stick with Moore. I do not want Tebow, Smith, Young, or any other teams failed qb.

Title: Re: Anyone else think we may end up with Tebow?
Post by: MikeO on March 19, 2012, 05:18:54 pm
If they trade for Tebow who doesn't fit Philbin's system or the west coast offense Miami is installing then this franchise isn't about winning.

The fans will show up a few times to see him, but that novelty will wear off fast when the Dolphins are in LAST PLACE in the AFC East, scoring 9 points a game, and unable to complete a forward pass on a consistent basis. Even the die-hard Tebow fans won't show up for that after a handful of times.

It's funny watching the NFL Network all day and the way everyone is looking at the Dolphins... just like most have said here the Dolphins front office is looked upon as clueless!   The same theme keeps coming up that no one knows where the Dolphins are going... they look like a team in disarray!

The going rate for Tebow according to many on the NFL Network is a 5th or 6th round draft pick.

Title: Re: Anyone else think we may end up with Tebow?
Post by: Brian Fein on March 19, 2012, 06:12:56 pm
I was very against "suck for luck" but I think that trading away every pick in this year's draft for picks next year would not be a terrible idea.  You could "give away" this season, being that you're in a bad place, maybe use the #8 pick, and trade off all the rest for future upgrades.  Package a 3 and a 5 for a 2 next year, or a 2 this year for a 1 next year.  I like it!  I'd rather see us stockpile picks for next year's draft than try to make gold out of the turds we have now.

Of course I'm sure current players and potential free agents wouldn't be too fond of this plan, but it would make for an exciting 2013 draft.

Title: Re: Anyone else think we may end up with Tebow?
Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 19, 2012, 07:35:31 pm
I really didn't want Tebow to Miami to happen and was just sharing thoughts when I made this thread. There is still a chance this doesn't happen, but I think Smith back to the Niners is pretty likely. That would leave only a trade for Tebow to be a "big QB splash".

What if we agreed to forfeit our next 5 games against Indy in addition to our entire draft this year? Could we get Luck then?
