Title: Russell Wilson, QB from Wisconsin
Post by: masterfins on April 11, 2012, 10:48:39 pm
Where is this Wilson guy supposed to get drafted?  Saw the Gruden QB interview of him on ESPN today, seemed like a player with a good work ethic.  A little undersized.  Had 33 touchdowns vs 4 ints last year.  Turned down a pro baseball career with the Rockies, is going to have to give them back some money.

Late round pick.  Undersized and doesn't put a lot of velocity on the ball

It don't care if he throws it underhanded. 33 TD's vs. 4 picks is IMPRESSIVE.

Doesn't hurt to look at him.

I agree. Particularly the 4 part.  I would rather have a QB with a very low int % than one with a high TD %.  Obviously if you can have both that is better.  But of the two I think protecting the ball is most important.

Would take Wilson over Tanneyhill in a heart beat. Just a better Qb IMO.

Wilson was a great college QB. He isn't going to do anything in the NFL though

I said this before, a couple of times in other threads...but I think that Wilson will surprise people once he gets into the NFL. Yes, he's short...but he's accurate, extremely smart and athletic enough to give defenses something to think about.  If Miami (or SF, for that matter) throw a late round flyer at this guy, I'd be happy.

Disagree completely with the Pat White comparison. Put film of both standing in the pocket and throwing side by side, and I think the difference is obvious. Again though, I did say "late round flyer," so we're talking about the dice-roll picks anyway.  If your team's QB cupboards are bare, I can't think of a better position to throw a late round pick at than QB.

57 of 76 (that's 75% completion %) on third downs with 16 TD's and only 1 INT, and his arm is waaaaaay better than White. To make that comparison is a bit of a stretch. If this guy was 6'2" instead of 5'11" he's be drafted ahead of Tannehill. -EK
