Not long enough. When you offer $10K to specifically take not one, but two players out of games on top of the other bounty related things that have come out, he should be suspended permanently. That's not football, it's assault. Hopefully the people pursuing criminal charges are still actively doing so. -EK

Back on topic.  I wonder if this is going to hurt the Saints title chances?  Also, with Drew Brees being franchised, do you think he signs a long term deal or walks next year?

If he is smart he signs nothing and forces the Saints hand.  Play the 1 year at the tender. THEN, Either they pay him 120% of his deal next year (Drew wins) or he hits the open market and lets some team break the bank and make him the highest paid QB in NFL History (Drew wins).

The ONLY risk Drew has is just don't get hurt this year. Drew is crazy to sign a long-term deal right now. Saints need him more than he needs the Saints

And that risk will be magnified this year.   I'll bet that a lot of other teams are pissed for what happened with the bounty scandal and their quarterbacks being put at risk.  You can be sure that opposing pass rushers will be putting a bulls eye on Brees's chest.

I predict the Saints will go 1-15 this year to earn the 1st pick in next years draft, and Goodell will find some way to take it away from them.

Funny, the NFLPA has gone crying for another arbitration.

I've seriously lost all respect for the NFLPA.

Depends if Drew Brees holds out or not.  But back on topic, I really don't give a shit about the bounty program anymore.  It's not going to change the fact that they won a Superbowl with it.  Nor is it going to change the fact that the NFLPA is a group of douchebags.

They could suspend that entire defense the team's still probably going 9-7 and making the playoffs.

I saw a really interesting item in that article:

The players also have sued the league in U.S. District Court in Minnesota, saying the owners colluded in the uncapped 2010 season to have a secret salary cap. NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith has said such collusion could have cost players $1 billion in wages.

That lawsuit stems, in part, from the NFL stripping the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys of salary cap room in 2012 and `13. The Redskins had their cap reduced $36 million over the two years and the Cowboys lost $10 million in cap space.

Both teams filed a grievance and lost.

I don't know why this isn't news.  I think the NFLPA has a legitimate chance to hammer the league on this one.

The league penalized WSH and DAL for "excessive spending that damaged the competitive balance of the game" (or something to that effect).  How is that possible in an uncapped year?  To me, that screams secret cap.  We'll see if a judge agrees.
