I kept hearing reports of high tempo in these offseason practices, but I assumed it was just moving from drill to drill and pushing hard during the drill.  Apparently, per a recent interview with Garrard, it is not the case and we are actually installing a fast pace, no huddle type offense.

This is a very different approach to what we have had in the past and I welcome it.  It drove me insane when we couldn't execute a 2 minute drill with Henne.  Doesn't sound like that will be an issue anymore.

Check out the link below and listen to the Garrard interview.  He gets into what I am talking about more toward the end of the session.  Almost sounds like he let the cat out of the bag a bit and maybe shouldn't have said what he did, but any damage from doing so would be minimal so I am not concerned.

Miami will need it. The defense can't stop anybody from passing the ball, so maybe they can keep up scoring now. They have implemented SO many weapons this off-season, I have to admit it will be fun to watch if they get in synch. -EK

I am really eager to see the "explosive speed" elements that the 49ers added on offense this offseason, especially RB LaMichael James and WR A.J. Jenkins.

I don't think he let the cat out of the bag, but you did have to read between the lines a bit. I don't think it will actually be a no huddle type of offense (there might be some of that), but they will get into and out of the huddle in a hurry. Keep the defense on it's heels, keep the tempo up, type of thing.

They actually have been saying this from when they hired Sherman. Sherman and Philbin want to run in excess of 80+ offensive plays a game. It's a combo WCO/K-GUN style. Keep the defense on the field so they cant make subs and create mis-matches on every play.

It's a fast-break offense. Like what Oregon runs, it just won't be a spread offense obviously, but just at that speed and style of play.

That's a concept that I can get behind. Especially for home games. Anything to make a defense wilt under the Florida sun. I just hope it works with the personel that they have.

You cant get hyped-up  about the crap they talk about what is going on in camp. fast pace this, up-tempo offense that.  New this -new that... blahh blahhh.  The only major change MIA has done was the implementation of the Wildcat but even after a while, defenses caught up on it.  Maybe im being brash, but you get tired of hearing the same stuff year after year and when they do get down n dirty on SUNDAYS, they look like my son's pee wee football team.  OPINION ::) Im not buying this crap until i see what goes down on the field.

90% of what you say has nothing to do with the words coming out of your mouth.  I encourage you to watch the interview and see if your instincts tell you something is different about this.

I am pretty good at reading people if I have a visual on them.  I think Garrard is truly surprised at the approach they are taking. 

I suppose we have all been burned by hype, so I understand and respect the fact that you wish to wait to "see it to believe it".  But still, part of the fun of being a fan is extrapolating from your observations and making predictions. 

If you guys do some research you will find out that Mike Sherman implemented this "fast-paced offense" under the tutelage of one, Chad Morris, an A&M Alum. Chad Morris is the Offensive Coordinator at Clemson, they run 80+ plays almost every single game. Chad Morris developed this offense while he was a high school coach in Texas. Prior to installing this offense, he was a failing high school coach with multiple losing seasons and on dire straits to keep his job.

So, Chad Morris made a phone call, to one Gus Mahlzan. Gus Mahlzan allowed Chad Morris under his wing for a summer and taught him everything about the offense. Chad Morris subsequently went back to Texas and won multiple state titles under the offense Mahlzan taught Morris.

Mahlzan just took the Head Coaching job at Arkansas St., after being the OC at Auburn where he coached Cam Newton. Here is an article about Chad Morris and his tempo:

If you can operate on the fly, there's no reason you shouldn't.

A fast pace offense offers a great when it works and a disaster when it doesn't.  If you do it right the defense gets worn out quickly, but if you try and run it with a QB that is not up for the task you turnover the ball more often than you score points. 

Not the offense for a rookie QB. 

Agree with that. A quick tempo offense can wear out your own D if you don't keep getting 1st downs. Best case, you wear oth the other team, worst case 3 and out in less than a minute.
