Title: Your much to do about nothing stories?
Post by: bsfins on August 15, 2012, 12:03:59 pm
I have to admit,A tweet by Brian Fein, and a few other things make me wonder this topic....

What are the stories are you tired of hearing about right now? Over covered,or over blown? Much to do about nothing?

It's one question (you don't have to give one in each subset),any news,sports,local,national,etc...

Mine at this moment......
- The Olympics,I don't watch them...Yah America, but I really don't care all that much sorry...It's like alot of reality T.V. in 6 months or a year from now...Who is this person?

I'm glad my tweet could inspire you.  My tweet was inspired by a "news" story on ESPN.com that stated that the world was right again because Tim Tebow jerseys were back on sale.

Baseball

To me, this part of the year sucks.  It's this boring interim time where there's a lot of football stories that don't really mean much because it's preseason, there's no NBA and baseball eats up a good portion of the news cycle.  I'm fine with baseball news, but it's only about specific teams in the hunt and it's generally not very interesting.

Anything to do with the Kardasians or Justin Bieber.  Also getting old very quick is the back and forth daily jabs between the President and Vice President contenders.  Not very mature of either of them.

- More of a frustration than a much to do about nothing, but those stories that seem like they might be interesting then send me to some video.Best buy to close100 stores headline...Then you click the link it takes you to Financial site that says" So says this financial firm"

Yahoo specifically I find is bad about that...It make the topic a much to do about nothing...

- I have a local one,that probably everyone's local T.V. stations do....
Someone getting scammed by a door,to door salesman. Some one knocks on their door, and offers to paint their 3 story Victorian house for $500,they pay them up front, they disappear...Internet scams that have been around for years (Nigerian scam),I've almost become a bit numb to them, but people still send them money.

I want to be specific here,I'm not talking about the newer types, like someone calling up grandma, posing as Jimmy her grandson saying he's in jail in Mexico.Doing new scams that happen to be going around, but the 8 minute feature on Stupid Sally getting taken advantage of....

Bump to add

Tropical Storm Isaac:
The 4 major local news stations cancelled programming for 2 days to show coverage of the storm.  Had remote reporters at hundreds of locations all over south Florida and the Keys.

All we got was a bit of wind and a lot of rain.  Not even 1 tree blew over, that I could see.  Max wind gust was 45.  Sustained 29 or something.  Not even TS force winds.

^ It's worse where I am.  My parents lost at least one large tree.  My neighborhood had downed wires, areas were flooded, and the police had blocked off my route to work because of some reason or another.

You're quite a bit more inland.

No one in Florida is quite a bit more inland if you ask me.

Yeah, my neighborhood was pretty trashed this morning and my neighbor lost a tree. Our street signs are gone. (The ones I noticed on my run.)

Not sure what inland has to do with it, but I'm also quite a bit more south.  Closer to the center of the storm.  We got lots of flooding but overall it wasn't bad.  Certainly not worse than your run of the mill sever thunderstorm, and definitely not worthy of 2 days of continuous coverage.
