Title: 2nd depth chart released...Tannehill starting vs Carolina Post by: EKnight on August 17, 2012, 07:52:03 am No major changes, except the obvious removal of Johnson. Moore is still listed ahead of Tannehill, so I'm guessing he starts tonight. Bush is still listed as the #1RB, with Thomas, Slaton, and Miller rounding out the top four in that order. Bush said yesterday he still plans to lead the NFL in rushing. If he does, they better change the offense dramatically from week one- 50 pass plays, vs. only 15 runs. The O line looked bad in the run game- Bush averaged 4.25 ypc, but the rest of the group was at 2.36, so that may account for why they passed as much as they did. Miller was also open on a 3rd and 6 and couldn't make a catch from Tannehill that was as good a pass as he's going to get. As good as Cam Newton is, he seems to be consistent for at least 1 INT per game vs. even an average secondary, so maybe this week Miami redeems itself from letting Freeman and Orlovsky go 12/13 for 132 yards. At least four key defenders — Cameron Wake, Karlos Dansby, Kevin Burnett, and Tony McDaniel are all out, so Carolina will likely run the ball well, but those stats won't be as meaningful given the situation. Finally, I'm looking for Wallace to see if he can put up good numbers like last week if playing against the Carolina starters, and curious to see if Miami uses the tight ends effectively agian. -EK

Exciting! Title: Re: 2nd depth chart released...Tannehill starting vs Carolina Post by: Brian Fein on August 17, 2012, 10:49:04 am I'm all for giving him a shot when the games don't count. I don't expect big things from him.
Title: Re: 2nd depth chart released...Tannehill starting vs Carolina Post by: MikeO on August 17, 2012, 03:38:58 pm Hope that just nobody gets hurt tonight. These games, stats, and outcomes mean nothing. Can't read anything from the outcomes or stat sheets. Espcially Week 2 of the preseason. Maybe next week a little can be read into things but even there you gotta be careful.
Means a little for rookies if they can hold their own in these games but thats about it. Otherwise its a glorified practice. Can't read alot into things. Title: Re: 2nd depth chart released...Tannehill starting vs Carolina Post by: EKnight on August 17, 2012, 04:57:57 pm I think that's way oversimplified. Philbin wants to name the regular season starter BEFORE next week's game. Ergo tonight's game is definitely meaningful. -EK

Does anyone else find it quite interesting that he's listed 2nd on the depth chart? I didn't think he'd have a very good shot at making the team when he was drafted, but maybe he does?

Does anyone else find it quite interesting that he's listed 2nd on the depth chart? I didn't think he'd have a very good shot at making the team when he was drafted, but maybe he does? He has a shot to make the roster but is probably a practice squad guy unless he shines these final 2-3 weeks. I think it has to do with wanting to see the rookies play early in these games. As I said these games mean nothing to vet's and can't be taken seriously. These games really only matter to rookies to see how they adjust to the level of competition. Listing Kheeston 2nd on the depth chart means he will play earlier in the preseason games. Not in total garbage time at the end against guys who will be working for UPS or slicing deli meat in 2 weeks. Take these depth charts with a grain of salt. It's still mid-August and still the early stages of training camp. This Dolphins defense is scaring me.

This Dolphins defense is scaring me. Fins have $120+ mill on the bench (Wake, Dansby, Burnett)....don't be nervous! |
