Title: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: MikeO on August 23, 2012, 09:31:47 pm He kept it somewhat vague but he is tweeting trade winds are blowing and they are talking about trading for an experienced veteran and willing to part with a high draft pick.
2 names pop to mind, MJD and Mike Wallace. With it probably being Wallace as I don't see Jax trading MJD inside the division but ya never know. It is Jax! If Wallace goes to Indy for a 2nd rounder or less, fair or unfair Ireland will catch holy hell and the media will be all over him for not making this move and getting it done. And the media would be right. Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: el diablo on August 23, 2012, 09:51:44 pm You're right. Wallace is a young difference maker. What's Ireland's number?

Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: MikeO on August 23, 2012, 11:09:36 pm If its Wallace, it'll be a 1st rounder, I'm sure. Not sure. Gotta give up a 1st rounder AND pay the guy big bucks. What team wants to do that? Bad business. I am thinking its a Brandon Marshall type deal when he was shipped from Denver to Miami. Two 2nd rounders. Or maybe a 2nd and a 3rd. Something like that Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: el diablo on August 23, 2012, 11:51:11 pm As much as I would be tempted to make that 1st rd trade, I couldn't go higher than a 2nd. We're going to need the 1st rd pick next season.

We're going to need the 1st rd pick next season. Especially if this team is as bad as the early returns suggest and lands a high draft pick. Landing the top pick would be great because teams would pay a king's ransom to move up to draft Barkley Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: el diablo on August 24, 2012, 08:26:02 am Especially if this team is as bad as the early returns suggest and lands a high draft pick. Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: Brian Fein on August 24, 2012, 09:35:04 am Personally, for the Dolphins I say No thank you.
The Dolphins need to hit on draft picks to rebuild, not trade them away for aging veterans. That's what Rick Spielman did and we saw how that worked. Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: EKnight on August 24, 2012, 09:50:39 am My guess is it's Vontae Davis. Seriously. -EK
Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: Pappy13 on August 24, 2012, 10:44:52 am ^^I'm not sure Irsay would even classify that as a "big trade". >:D

Swordfish or Tuna steaks that is. ;) Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on August 24, 2012, 11:07:10 am Irsey is a drunk, who has less of a filter on his twitter account than Ochocinco.

Why would Vonate be considered "big" by any means. He can't even beat out Richard Marshall for christ sakes. All I read on this board is how Miami's secondary sucks and can't cover anyone. Well, wouldn't that make Vonate part of the problem !!!! Yet it would be a "big" trade?! Flawed logic! I guess a large portion of the country has the same flawed logic. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1309568-miami-dolphins-are-they-considering-a-vontae-davis-trade-to-the-colts http://www.thepigskinreport.com/2012/08/could-dolphins-cb-vontae-davis-be-target-of-colts-in-serious-trade-winds-comment-by-jim-irsay/ http://phinphanatic.com/2012/08/23/vontae-davis-trade-rumor/ http://tucsoncitizen.com/usa-today-news/2012/08/23/colts-owner-tweets-about-possible-mystery-trade-2/ http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1309430-colts-owner-jim-irsay-hints-at-blockbuster-trade-on-twitter -EK Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: MikeO on August 24, 2012, 04:48:48 pm The bleacher report? Really?
If Irsay thinks "Vonate" is a "BIG TRADE" he must be hitting the bottle again. Poor guy is off the wagon Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: EKnight on August 24, 2012, 04:52:25 pm The bleacher report? Really? That's why I threw in the other sources as well. When you google Vontae and the colts these were the first few links that popped up. There were many more. My logic isn't quite so flawed. -EK Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: Landshark on August 24, 2012, 05:36:28 pm The bleacher report? Really? If Irsay thinks "Vonate" is a "BIG TRADE" he must be hitting the bottle again. Poor guy is off the wagon The Colts will be lucky to win six games this year. Thats at least a top ten pick. If Irsay is willing to give that up for Vontae then he's definitely out of his mind. Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: Brian Fein on August 24, 2012, 05:53:37 pm It says blockbuster. What if it includes Reggie Wayne? What if Vontae is a small piece? It could be a blockbuster deal if the Colts want it to be. What if it includes Andrew Luck? Unlikely, but wouldn't that make it a "big" trade?
Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: MikeO on August 24, 2012, 06:37:27 pm It says blockbuster. What if it includes Reggie Wayne? What if Vontae is a small piece? It could be a blockbuster deal if the Colts want it to be. What if it includes Andrew Luck? Unlikely, but wouldn't that make it a "big" trade? I will ignore the Andrew Luck comment. Wayne just signed there as a FA this past offseason. I don't see him being traded. Plus Wayne is older now. Good player for a couple more years maybe, but I don't see Miami wanting him. Hey, If Ireland can steal a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Vonate DO IT! Seriously. Do it! Giving Miami 5 picks in the first 3 rounds next year. That is how you rebuild in this league. Get rid of overpaid problem players (Vonate is overpaid and can be a problem at times) and move forward with young blood through the draft. (Ireland has to hit on the draft picks but that is a different story for a different day) I hope this "RUMOR" is true. I don't think it is but I HOPE it is! Title: Re: Jim Irsay hinting at a big trade going down Post by: MikeO on August 25, 2012, 07:39:42 am If Vonate was "on the trade block" or something was "close to being done" I doubt he would have played last night as they wouldn't have risked him being injured.
But once again, I hope I am wrong and Indy parts with a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick for him. |
