Title: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: dolphins4life on September 23, 2012, 04:59:16 pm Carpenter
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: mecadonzilla on September 23, 2012, 05:07:22 pm Philbin hands down. 47-48 yard field goals are never a gimme, yet the HC and OC played like that's all they needed at the end of the 4th and in OT.
Nice job with the icing, too, dumbass. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Dave Gray on September 23, 2012, 05:16:19 pm Carpenter. Without question.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Jim Gray on September 23, 2012, 05:22:25 pm Gut wrenching. Carpenter.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: dolphins4life on September 23, 2012, 05:24:03 pm Either of those kicks would have won the game.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Tenshot13 on September 23, 2012, 05:29:50 pm Carp
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: CF DolFan on September 23, 2012, 05:30:43 pm I love you man but you stunk it up today and I'm sure you would be the first to admit it. Dan Carpenter for sure.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: dolphins4life on September 23, 2012, 05:33:20 pm What happened with the icing?
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: CF DolFan on September 23, 2012, 05:41:02 pm What happened with the icing? Apparently Philbin didn't share his cake with mecadonzilla.Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: dolphins4life on September 23, 2012, 05:47:32 pm Which team tried to ice the kicker?
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Spider-Dan on September 23, 2012, 05:49:55 pm In OT, NYJ lined up for a game-winning field goal.
MIA blocked it, but Philbin had called timeout right before the snap (a stupid, but currently popular, strategy). Jets got a do-over and won the game. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: CF DolFan on September 23, 2012, 05:50:31 pm Which team tried to ice the kicker? Both teams. They iced Carpenter and we iced their kicker. He is alluding to the fact Philbin did it at the last second and the jets still hiked the ball and we blocked it. He is pretending Philbin was wrong for calling the timeout prior to us blocking it. Not sure how he is suppose to be a fotune tellerTitle: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: dolphins4life on September 23, 2012, 05:51:23 pm ^^^^
That's just pure luck. Well it never should have come down to that in the first place. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Landshark on September 23, 2012, 05:57:47 pm Carpenter without a doubt. He makes either kick he missed, the game is over.
Honorable mention to Joe Philbin. This shithead abandoned the run in the fourth quarter when it was working well, and as a result the offense couldn't stay on the field. Then he calls a timeout on a blocked kick. Dumb ass moves by a supposedly smart coach. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Thundergod on September 23, 2012, 06:00:08 pm Split shames - Carpenter, Philbin.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: mecadonzilla on September 23, 2012, 06:33:03 pm Both teams. They iced Carpenter and we iced their kicker. He is alluding to the fact Philbin did it at the last second and the jets still hiked the ball and we blocked it. He is pretending Philbin was wrong for calling the timeout prior to us blocking it. Not sure how he is suppose to be a fotune teller Icing the kicker is no longer a good call...especially on short tries. Kickers are expecting it, and it just doesn't work nearly well enough as it did the first year it was en vogue. In fact, I bet it hurts more than it helps. Saw it hurt today and saw hurt it last week in the Skins/Rams game. FWIW I was pissed when they blew the whistle even before I saw the block. It's just not a good strategy anymore. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Dave Gray on September 23, 2012, 06:40:07 pm Philbin coached a good game. You guys are nuts. Look at this team compared to last season...playing better with inferior talent. Even the Jets had better talent, yet we won the game twice. We aren't predictable and we trust our qb. And it worked. Your kicker didn't make kicks...twice.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: CF DolFan on September 23, 2012, 06:58:08 pm Philbin coached a good game. You guys are nuts. Look at this team compared to last season...playing better with inferior talent. Even the Jets had better talent, yet we won the game twice. We aren't predictable and we trust our qb. And it worked. Your kicker didn't make kicks...twice. Had you of told me yesterday we would go into overtime tied 20 -20 I would have taken it. The truth is we are playing better than our actual talent. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Brian Fein on September 23, 2012, 08:16:23 pm PRO level kickers need to be almost automatic inside 50 yards. Carpenter might wanna watch for his job after this performance.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: BigDaddyFin on September 23, 2012, 08:18:07 pm Tannehill gets shame of the game this week. The TD pick six was a major factor and he was only like 15-36 and had a hundred yards passing. Not what you want to see from a rookie.
He had a lot of dropped passes yes. But without the INT the game never gets into overtime. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Brian Fein on September 23, 2012, 08:21:30 pm He had 196 passing. Pick him if you want but accuracy is nice.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: stealth3ltt on September 23, 2012, 08:49:03 pm today its all on carpenter. get 1 of those kicks and we win. the pick six is not even considered. defense did great considering...
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: tepop84 on September 23, 2012, 08:51:30 pm Why the fuck is daniel thomas even playing. he fucking blows.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: DZA on September 23, 2012, 09:10:43 pm Freakin Obvious.. Coach Philbin and Dan Carpenter ::) ::) ::)
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Tenshot13 on September 23, 2012, 09:50:50 pm Why the fuck is daniel thomas even playing. he fucking blows. I agree. I've turned into a huge Thomas hater. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Spider-Dan on September 23, 2012, 10:33:34 pm Both teams. They iced Carpenter and we iced their kicker. He is alluding to the fact Philbin did it at the last second and the jets still hiked the ball and we blocked it. He is pretending Philbin was wrong for calling the timeout prior to us blocking it. Not sure how he is suppose to be a fotune teller Philbin had plenty of time to call a timeout well before the ball was snapped. Some stupid coaches think that letting the opposing kicker get a practice kick is a good thing. These stupid coaches are stupid. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Dave Gray on September 23, 2012, 11:59:49 pm Freakin Obvious.. Coach Philbin and Dan Carpenter ::) ::) ::) Your vote isn't being counted. Only one choice. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: mecadonzilla on September 24, 2012, 12:24:39 am I agree. I've turned into a huge Thomas hater. I have no idea why he's even in the league. He can't run. He's injury prone and likes to fumble. That's not good. Are we supposed to be mad about Fireland starting this season or the others that he's totally mishandled? It's hard to discern anymore. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: CF DolFan on September 24, 2012, 08:48:57 am Saw this in Peter King's MMQB column. I don't know if he gets a vote or not but he did cast one.
Quote Goats of the Week Dan Carpenter, K, Miami. Missed a 47-yarder, wide left, in regulation -- in a game that went to overtime. Missed a 48-yarder, wide left, on the second possession in overtime, a kick that would have won the game. I know Carpenter's 41-yarder in the final minute forced overtime. Goody goody. A kicker can't miss two kicks in the 40s. You can't miss twice buddy, not twice.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: suck for luck on September 24, 2012, 10:47:51 am Philbin/Carpenter
Rules be damned! LOL Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Spider-Dan on September 24, 2012, 12:45:36 pm Philbin.
Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Phishfan on September 24, 2012, 01:26:53 pm yet we won the game twice. In what world did the Dolphins win the game? My shame Carpenter. From 48 & 47 are not gimme kicks, but you should make at least one of them. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Dave Gray on September 24, 2012, 01:29:42 pm In what world did the Dolphins win the game? In the world where the team and staff did what they had to do to win, but lost due to a kicker's error. Of course they didn't ACTUALLY win. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Phishfan on September 24, 2012, 01:31:55 pm In the world where the team and staff did what they had to do to win, but lost due to a kicker's error. Of course they didn't ACTUALLY win. Then in some fairy tale land where everyone gets a trophy they won? Moral victories are a stupid concept. The Dolphins lost the game. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: mecadonzilla on September 24, 2012, 03:08:59 pm The Dolphins lost the game. And deserved to lose. They didn't lose because a kicker missed a long kick in overtime. They lost because of a very bad defensive play at the worst possible time. It's not as if the Jets just kicked the FG from the spot where Carpenter missed the kick. Why do folks want to forget that? He missed a kick that he should have made and he'd be the first to say that, BUT just because you miss a kick doesn't mean the defense should stop playing. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: Dave Gray on September 24, 2012, 04:08:53 pm Then in some fairy tale land where everyone gets a trophy they won? Moral victories are a stupid concept. The Dolphins lost the game. I'm not talking about moral victories, but when assessing what went wrong, I submit the evidence that the coach and QB (those being ridiculed) put the team as a whole in a position to win the game under normal, statistical circumstances. And Carpenter didn't come through. Tannehill and Philbin did their part to win the game. Carpenter did not. Title: Re: Shame of the Game - Jets Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on September 24, 2012, 04:43:19 pm Has to go to Carpenter this week. Heartbreaking to lose to the hated Jets in that game which we easily could have won.
