Title: The last two plays of football this week.... Post by: dolphins4life on September 25, 2012, 04:58:02 pm Both were controversial endings.
However, it appears that both were correctly ruled. I have watched the FG a couple hundred times now and it seems that it does go inside the uprights. The NFL has publicy agreed that the last pass of the MNF was a touchdown. Maybe the refs aren't doing as bad as we think they are? Title: Re: The last two plays of football this week.... Actually they said there was an uncalled penalty that should have ended the game. Also I don't beleive the NFL's statement ever says that a correct call was made. They said the video evidence is not enough to over rule the judgement on the field (which I disagree with anyway). Title: Re: The last two plays of football this week.... Post by: mecadonzilla on September 25, 2012, 06:57:51 pm I don't understand the controversy over the Pats/Ravens ending. The FG was clearly called correctly. The controversy in that game should be all the horrible calls leading up to that ending.
As for Monday night, the NFL is covering its own ass. Dear Leader Kim Jong Goodell knows the refs blew it and doesn't want things to get further out of hand by saying so. I wonder if side judge #26 (who incorrectly signaled the TD) will be calling a game this weekend after that gaffe. It could be telling if he isn't. It did not lend an opinion as to whether or not the call was correct.
2) The NFL is always ALWAYS going to back up the refs, otherwise they'd have to reverse the ruling of the play after it happened and cause a shit storm. They are never going to go against the refs' judgment calls in an official league statement. |
