Title: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Fins4ever on October 01, 2012, 06:11:27 pm here is his latest piece of crap that the Herald calls "sports writing".

Also not surprised he was fired from his radio show with this kind of analysis. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Landshark on October 01, 2012, 06:26:18 pm Some odd grades there. Not sure which game he watched. Also not surprised he was fired from his radio show with this kind of analysis. Odd grade, but dead accurate with his evaluation of the coaching. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: MikeO on October 01, 2012, 06:28:38 pm And Philbin who was so anti "F-Bombs" on Hard Knocks, lol...I'm no master lip reader but in the 1st half of that game yesterday he dropped about 10 F'bombs on the sideline!
I loved his fire. It seemed legit and not contrived like Sparano's! Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: el diablo on October 01, 2012, 11:20:42 pm I was going to bring this up earlier. Actually got to buy a paper today. Anyways, how does Tannehill set a rookie team record and get a C-? While the DB's allow 60% completion rate, 324 passing yds, and 3 td's and get a B-?
Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Brian Fein on October 01, 2012, 11:48:03 pm Because Armando is a moron with no football knowledge.

Anyways, how does Tannehill set a rookie team record and get a C-? While the DB's allow 60% completion rate, 324 passing yds, and 3 td's and get a B-? It is a C+ but the way he wrote it (GRADE: C- plus) throws you off ... not that it matters. I'd have given him a B so I'm not far off but other evals are quite off from mine. I also love the fact people are questioning throwing the ball at the end of the game. I have to wonder what game they saw as well ... lol. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... While the DB's allow 60% completion rate, 324 passing yds, and 3 td's and get a B-? I'm guessing RT got that grade because passing yards don't mean much when two of your turnovers directly lead to 14 points by the other team and you lose. It's inexcusable that the DB's got anything over a D-. -EK Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Brian Fein on October 02, 2012, 11:11:23 am ^^ both of those turnovers are on the o-line. Tannehill got smashed both times.
Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Fins4ever on October 02, 2012, 11:27:21 am ^^ both of those turnovers are on the o-line. Tannehill got smashed both times. I will need to look at the video again. I thought for the most part the O line improved. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: EKnight on October 02, 2012, 11:41:10 am I didn't think they were on the O line. Arizona was blitzing all day. RT still needs to learn when to throw the ball away. It's not like he didn't know what was coming. When the Cards did the same thing to Vick, I heard a lot of talking heads saying that Vick has to make better decisions under pressure- they didn't put it all on the O line. -EK
Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Brian Fein on October 02, 2012, 11:51:16 am Turnover 1 - a blitzing linebacker shoots the A-gap hard and gets to Tannehill before he gets even 1 step into his drop. As a result, Tannehill fumbles.
Turnover 2 - a defender comes up the middle (again) and smashes Tannehill as he's throwing. The ball floats and gets picked. I don't care if you're Tom Brady, if you get hit while you're throwing you're going to get picked. Watch the video here: FF to 1:14 and 1:57 http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012093007/2012/REG4/dolphins@cardinals#menu=highlights|contentId:0ap1000000067891&tab=analyze Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Fins4ever on October 02, 2012, 11:59:10 am Turnover 1 - a blitzing linebacker shoots the A-gap hard and gets to Tannehill before he gets even 1 step into his drop. As a result, Tannehill fumbles. Turnover 2 - a defender comes around the end and smashes Tannehill as he's throwing. The ball floats and gets picked. I don't care if you're Tom Brady, if you get hit while you're throwing you're going to get picked. Thanks for the breakdown. I kept looking for some screens to slow the blitz down, but the few times they tried it, it was terrible. That is a little surprising considering the Packers (Philbin) have always been one of the best at running the screen in the NFL. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Dave Gray on October 02, 2012, 12:46:07 pm I have disliked the Big O ever since the Dolphins had their first "Web Weekend". The team brought us in, where we thought we were going to have them clamp down on us. Instead, they were totally open and cool about it. They treated us with respect. It wasn't threatening and it wasn't bribery. It was that they respected us as a form of media and they wanted to work with us to reach the community and help with charity. I was there -- I was in the room. Big O's spin of that story made it out like the Dolphins brought us in to threaten us so that we wouldn't spread bad info about a struggling team.
Ever since then, I knew he was a hack. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Fins4ever on October 02, 2012, 12:58:28 pm Big O???
What I don't like about Armando is the way "he serves things up." I don't expect everything to be all rosy, but he seems to go out of the way to be negative and critical. Don't we have enough of the media that does that to us? You would think that the "hometown newspaper" would have a sportswriter who is more supportive of the team. In fact, I think he bites the hand that feeds his sorry butt. Living in AZ. and reading the main paper out of PHX. I can assure you that Armando would not last a month with the Republic. Their writers are all in for the Cards, Suns and D Backs regardless of the W-L record. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Brian Fein on October 02, 2012, 01:01:30 pm ^^ Dave, I think you're thinking about a different guy. That's Orlando Alzugaray (https://twitter.com/BigOShow) - he's on the radio. This is Armando Salgueiro, an equally worthless writer for the Herald.

You would think that the "hometown newspaper" would have a sportswriter who is more supportive of the team. In fact, I think he bites the hand that feeds his sorry butt. This is exactly correct. I will never forget last season...Monday, Armando reports a "rumor" citing himself as the source, that Sparano's firing is imminent. Tuesday, the same Armando goes into Sparano's press conference, and asks him to comment on the article and rumor (that he made up) about him getting fired. Wednesday, Sparano got fired for being a distraction to the team. I that's not the media making up the news and influencing the results, I don't know what is. That's the most irresponsible journalism I've ever seen. Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Post by: Pappy13 on October 02, 2012, 01:21:36 pm I didn't think they were on the O line. He said that both of those were mostly on the O line. He didn't go into specifics but he said there's a system in place to pick up those blitzes and it didn't work for whatever reason, so maybe Tannehill is partly to blame for not pointing it out or something, I don't know, I just know that Philbin said it was mostly on the O line and they would work on it.Title: Re: For you Armando lovers.... Barry Jackson's Monday column gave the details. Lane missed the blitz on a couple occasions which caused havoic. And on another play Incognito helped Pouncey instead of blocking Fullback Jorvorskie Lane took responsibility for not picking up the blitz on Daryl Washington’s sack of Tannehill that forced a fumble with the Dolphins protecting a 21-14 fourth quarter lead. Vonnie Holliday recovered and Arizona went on to tie the game. “Lane’s blocking was a little sporadic at times,” Philbin said. On the overtime interception, Richie Incognito decided to help Mike Pouncey on Sam Acho, leaving Paris Lenon a clear path to Tannehill, who was hit by Acho as he threw the interception to Kerry Rhodes. I actually talked to him yesterday going over some website stuff I am working on with him. If I knew you loved him so much Dave I would have passed along a birthday greeting from you! ;) |
