I'm sure this team would be way better with one, but he needs to keep that to himself and let the front office do their job.  His job is to sign the checks.

Hey, Ross, you had a premier WR, and all he did was take your money and laugh at you.

big names don't always equate to big performance.

big names don't always equate to big performance.

I think T.J. Houshmandzadeh was the biggest name wide reciever.

Lots of options out there next year at WR. He stated the obvious by pointing out Miami's biggest weakness on this team. I think it will be Jennings or Bowe if I had to predict right now

Maybe MIA can contact the Bears and offer them two 2nds for a premier WR.

Here's an interesting tidbit from that article:

Quote
Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland, who was not in attendance, still has the full support of Ross, who pointed out only one active GM has signed more players currently in the NFL. Ross spoke of Ireland’s “knack” for finding talent, even going back to his Dallas days, where he drafted pass rusher DeMarcus Ware.
I imagine it was statistics like these that Ireland fed to Ross in order to convince him not to dump both remaining Trifectoids and simply turn over the reigns to a new regime.

Why would they need to? You already pointed out to me that Hartline is leading the league in receiving yards, ahead of any former Dolphin/current Bear players.  ::) -EK

I agree with that. As far as I am concerned, the less we see and hear from Ross, all the better. He has nowhere to go but down. Every word will be scrutinized.

As far as wanting a premier WR, that should be up to JP. Personally I would rather have 3 very good ones than 1 great one. What happens if / when Mr. Go to guy breaks a leg?

With Bess and Hartline we have 2 very good ones. Throw a Bowe or Mike Wallace into the mix and we would have a great WR corp. Miami has the cap room to get one too, so it shouldn't be an issue. Then use the 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds on CB, Pass Rusher, and TE if Egnew proves to be a total flop after 1 year which we might be headed in that direction, but its still early.

Because the owner isn't satisfied with Hartline, according to this article.

I don't think it's that...I think it's situations like Sunday's game against Cincy showing how if no one else steps up you can effectively take Hartline out of the equation.  A real #1 can make our receiving corps great instantly!  Bess is without a doubt a slot receiver... Hartline can be a solid #2.  You put a real threat opposite of Hartline with a QB like Tanny that finds the open guy not just locked in on the primary and this offense can be scary!

I look at us like the Cowboys when they had Irvin and Harper... Irvin made Harper a better receiver.  We see what happened when Harper left to become a #1.   Hartline is a better receiver than Harper IMO... but he needs someone to take the rolled coverage and safety over top away.  I think Hartline could be a solid number 1 if given a good solid receiver opposite him that can stretch the field and run decent routes.  A good number 1 would launch this offense into orbit!

Show me an owner that doesn't want a premier WR. How is this even a story?

This came from Ross before the Arizona game. I'd bet Hartline's stock has risen since then.

Team needs to beef up the WR corp with a true #1. Then slide Hartline in as a #2. Hartline has played very well so far, very well. Not sure he is a legit NFL #1 though. But he is a very good player. Put him along side a true #1 with a real QB like Tanny and this offense could be explosive.

Seriously how is this statement any different from the one I made when you said I was "Such a Dolphins hater and troll?" -EK

"Hartline had one ridiculous game. The rest of the year, it appears teams already figured out how to stop them both. Minus the Cards game, Hartline is averaging 65 yards a game and has no TDs. Bess is at 69 a game and hasn't scored. Miami is still a run-first team."

"Hartline's numbers looked pretty pedestrian this week- good for a #2 on most teams, but certainly not great."

Yeah....vastly different.  ??? ::) -EK
