Title: Jets-vs-Fins Prediction!
Post by: miamid45 on October 22, 2012, 12:34:10 am
With Shonn Green likely out along with McKnight...I think we win a tight one and Sanchez  has a brutal game under alot of pressure:

Fins 20
Jets 10

Man, @ 4-3 if we can gain some more momentum, a wildcard may just be within reach.  Looking @ the Ravens, Bengals, Bills, etc whom all seem to be headed for more downward slides.

It better be 40-3 Dolphins.  Maybe worse.  56-3?

I'll be the first to piss in everyone's cereal.   Jets 27 Miami 17

Despite how much the Jets are maligned by the media, I think they are a tough opponent, especially at home.  Their 4 defeats are to Pittsburgh, NE, San Fran and Houston.  Both the Houston and NE game were close and could have gone either way.   The game comes down to Sanchez, who has been playing better of late.  Until the overtime fumble, he looked sharp against NE, and made some really nice throws under pressure.   I don't think Miami's offense can score enough to win this one.

Agree on Sanchez, but I am a homer. The week off will make the difference in this one. Gaffney should be ready to play and Bush and others will benefit from the rest. Also, the Fins will bring a better pass rush than the Pats did and Sanchez has problems and once rattled, falls apart.

In a low scoring D battle, the turnovers will let Miami squeak by 20-17

I think the Jets win it.  I am not sure about my rooting interest.  In theory the Fins are more of a threat to NE than the Jets, but I hate the Jets a lot more than the Fins.

Miami's defense shows up in a huge way...5+ sacks, 3+ turnovers. Final score:  Dolphins 17-6 over the Jets.

The rest of this year is gonna come down to how Reggie Bush is running. The first couple of weeks when Bush looked really good, the offense looked really good despite not winning many games. Lately, despite the fact that Miami has won, they haven't looked as good offensively and have struggled to beat some teams that honestly I think should have been easier games.

If Bush does well, the Dolphins will beat the Jets. If he doesn't it will be tough to win.

This game comes down the 4th quarter just like most MIA games will this year.  I think the Phins are playing with confidence and that's big in today's NFL games

MIA 24
NYJ 20

I think we get it done on the road and get over .500

I'm with Jim, Loss I think something like 23-16...

I feel the jets defense is adjusting with life without Revis, than when we played them the first time...I think we'll lose on some fluky Really? plays,or bad calls. It's a division game, there always seems like we have fluky Really? type plays

I want to believe that the Dolphins can best the Jets this time around, like they should have in the first meeting, but I just think the Jets will eek out a victory, coming down to the last possession, like hordman thinks. It's probably going to be much closer than it should be.

Can we at least all agree that if Dan Carpenter costs us this game again he will be released?

^^^No. I'm against cutting guys for onfield issues without a valid replacement.  Kickers sometimes go through slumps.  Would you cut a RB or QB because of a bad game or two??

I would not go that far, but unless he is lights out (85% or above), he definitely gets competition in the off season. In fact, I have briefly looked over the kicking crop coming out of college and there are some good talent coming out.

Honestly, Carp had 1 great year and everything else is average. The worst part is from what I understand the Fins are on the hook for a couple mil.

I'm always in favor of bringing in competition, regardless of the starter's performance. Carpenter hasn't been terrible, but he needs to hit more 45+ yard kicks and his kickoffs, while solid, aren't stellar and certainly don't outweigh any accuracy issue.

Cut him if he costs us the Jets game? Absolutely not.

Looks like Carpenter atoned for his previous mishaps with his performance today.
