Title: Matt Moore's Trade Value Just Went Through The Roof!
Post by: Fins4ever on October 28, 2012, 03:38:37 pm
I am a huge MM fan, maybe the biggest on this site, but if they do trade him, Ireland has all the leverage. How about a 3rd or 4th?

Always nice to have a guy like him for when your rookie qb goes down.   could Devlin walk into the jets stadium and win

Not trading Moore any timesoon!

Always a PLUS to have a Veteran QB ready to come in for these situations....right now we've already stockpiled some picks and our concentration should be on the PLAYOFFS...?yes the PLAYOFFS!

All teams need a good 2nd and 3rd string QB. Anyone that thinks Moore should be traded needs their head examined !!! Miami needs to somehow lock Moore up for the next couple of years. Kinda funny that our 2nd string QB is better than all of the Jets QBs put together.

Moore proved the value of a decent backup today.  He's worth more to us than we could get for him.   I think we have to keep Moore if we can.

Moore's contract expires at the end of this season and he is unlikely to re-sign as a backup when he can probably start on 2-3 other teams.

If I'm Ireland, I offer Moore an extension.  If he turns it down, trade him.

Yep!! If Moore wants to be Ryan Tannehill's "back up" for the next 3 years offer him a fair extension this week. If he says no, then I would have NO PROBLEM AT ALL trading him if the deal is good enough. Don't give him away, but for the right price send his rear end packing.

You have to think "BIG PICTURE" and big picture getting a 3rd or 4th, hell even a 5th for a back-up QB is a great deal! Just is. Gotta think beyond this season!

KC, ARI... maybe JAX or BUF if they decide to cut bait.

Jax
Arizona
KC
Cleveland
Jets
Buffalo
maybe Philly these days, Vick is god awful
Oakland (Palmer is nothing special anymore)
Seattle ( he is probably better than Russell and Flynn honestly that team wins IN SPITE of their QB's)

Moore can start for some bad teams in this league right now. Now, Moore still isn't anything special but he can start for a lot of team around the league and be a  upgrade.

Weeden is going to get at least another year in CLE (unless they are bad enough to get a top 3 pick), so I don't think he'll go there.
Woody Johnson himself said the Jets will have Tebow until 2014.  No sane QB would insert himself into that circus.
SEA would have to both get tired of Wilson and run Flynn through his paces before Moore got a shot there.
Palmer and Vick aren't bad enough (yet) for OAK/PHI to turn the reins over to a no-namer (especially given their fan bases).

Im not saying some of those teams WILL trade for him, I am saying Moore and his ability would be an upgrade over those current QB's. That's what I am saying. Moore can start in this league. He won't lead you anywhere but he can start for some bad teams

Last week half the board wanted to give him away for a 7th round pick.  Now some of the same people want to get rid of him for a 3rd or 4th.  Incredible.

It's like the stock market.....things change and its all about timing!

Agree with most of your points, but disagree with Russel Wilson..actual;ly like what he's doing in Seattle.

Russel Wilson is a baller!  That's why Flynn isn't playing...

Having 2 competent QBs is a good thing to have. If we get rid of Moore, who you gonna get as 2nd and 3rd QBs. I simply don't think we can trust Devlin at this point.

Couldn't have said it better. The man didn't sulk when he lost the starting job. He kept himself game ready. No way do I trade that.

You don't trade away your back up QB.  And if you think Devlin can do the job, I ask you -- why didn't he play today?

Isn't the point moot?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the trade deadline up at week 8?  We're in week 8 now...or do we get until the end of the Monday night game?

Regardless, keep Matt Moore.  He's needed more in Miami now than a 6th or 7th rounder for next year.

Once more for emphasis:

Matt Moore will almost certainly be GONE at the end of this season when his contract expires.  If you can sign him to an extension now, by all means, do it!  But if you can't, I'd happily take a 3rd round pick for half-a-season of a backup QB.

The trade deadline is October 30.

Could not agree more. I was in no way advocating trading him. Would love to keep him. Like you said, make him an offer and go from there.

The problem is no team wants to give up a high pick for 1/2 a season. They will face the same situation as we are.

Still I think Matt wants to go somewhere and be a starter and that is not Miami.
