Title: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MikeO on November 12, 2012, 06:45:35 pm Fred Jackson is OUT and won't play. I think Miami coming off a bad performance will come out ready to play this week. Tough place to win though on a short week.
I will be in attendance for this one, should be interesting to see a bunch of liquored up Bills fans at a night game!! Or rip off Dolphins gear from Dolphins fans and throw it into a bon fire. I have witnessed that first hand. (and they ripped it off a child on a cold December day) Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: Brian Fein on November 12, 2012, 07:08:28 pm I have low expectations for this game. Buffalo isn't as bad as they seem.
Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MikeO on November 12, 2012, 07:32:41 pm I have low expectations for this game. Buffalo isn't as bad as they seem. On defense they are. If Spiller is on they are tough on offense. Fitzpatrick does stink though. Problem is the atmosphere, a night game at home and the Bills might be "UP" for this one. If this game were Sunday at 1 I would like Miami's chances a lot more. Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 13, 2012, 10:40:46 am I am rooting for the Bills. They are less of a threat to Pats than the Fins.
BTW- The Dolphins still control their own destiny for the division title, if the Fins win all remaining games they will win the division, regardless of what NE does in all of its other games. Only 7 team in the AFC control their own destiny for the division and 8 for the wildcard. Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: bsfins on November 13, 2012, 10:59:00 am (Added to the Spiller concern)I'm concerned about Fitzpatrick running around,Chan Gailey moving the pocket,to make something happen.I wouldn't rule out a few trick plays....It's killed our defense the past couple of weeks.
Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: masterfins on November 13, 2012, 11:54:37 am I'll be at this game also, just checked the weather report, supposed to be low 30's...not bad for a night game in NY this time of year. The Dolphins need to get ahead early and put lots of pressure on Fitzpatrick. Lots of Dolphins fans at this game the last couple years, I haven't seen a problem with the Bills Fans in quite a few years, hopefully the long pre-game drinking won't be too much of a factor.

Dullphins 7 :'( Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: sampras66 on November 13, 2012, 09:54:56 pm Control own destiny? They can't loose to medeiocre teams. There not there yet .They will be crushed by the bills and there crazed fans all drunk for a night game.Only good thing is the coach has no idea what hes walking into.So maybe a win can happen.???? >:D
Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: TonyB0D on November 13, 2012, 11:48:39 pm woohoo first game of the season i'll be able to watch - very nice!!
Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: jimmythefinger on November 14, 2012, 08:28:53 am CJ Spiller is going to run wild. Chan Gailey says they will get him 25-30 touches. Doubt he will do much on Rushing Plays unless he cuts back after getting stuffed like Chris Johnson did, but Spiller will probably rack up big yards catching screens and flare outs. If the Miami Coaches have any brains they will at least TRY to come up with a Defense to contain this. But odds are Spiller will be covered by Karlos Dansby most the night.
What's even scarier -- the Dolphin Coaches are gonna watch this happen and still not realize this is exactly what they should be doing with Reggie Bush. Apparently, they have never watched tape of Reggie Bush in New Orleans. The Bills have the worst Rushing Defense in the NFL. The Fins should run all over them, but I don't think these Coaches got brains enough to manage this. Tennessee was like 30th when we played them last week and Miami netted a total of 54 Rushing Yards. The longest run all game was 15 yards by Reggie Bush, after which they benched him. I know a lotta guys are still holding out hope for this Coaching staff, but I don't see any sign of any football IQ Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: Phishfan on November 14, 2012, 09:39:18 am Tennessee was like 30th when we played them last week and Miami netted a total of 54 Rushing Yards. While you cannot completly abandon the run, it is hard to try and play catch up to a team blowing your doors off by running the ball. Maybe Miami gameplanned to run the ball more but had to change given the way the game went. Why are you continually harping on run stats (only) from such a blowout? Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: Fins4ever on November 14, 2012, 10:38:22 am I have low expectations for this game. Buffalo isn't as bad as they seem. The Bills live and die with Fitz. Yes, Spiller is great, but that will not be enough. The Bills put up a big fight last week and were a play or 2 beating the Pats. Also, if you know anything about the history with these 2 teams, you can through out the W-L records. Not feeling good about this one. Both Miami and Buffalo is inconsistent. It will be decided by which team shows up... Jekyll or Hyde? Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 14, 2012, 10:56:37 am Control own destiny? Yes. If the Dolphins win the rest of their games they will win the AFCE, even if NE wins all of the rest of its games other than the two with the Dolphins. OTOH, the Jets or Bills could win every remaining game this season and not make the playoffs. That is the definition of control your own destiny. I am not betting they make the playoffs but they do control their own destiny. Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: Jim Gray on November 14, 2012, 11:53:15 am I got a bad feeling.
- Miami coming off a terrible showing at home - Buffalo was 1 play away from beating the Pats on the road - Night game at an away stadium to a nationally televised audience Like some others, I think Buffalo a better team than they are given credit for Miami - 13 Buffalo - 24 Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: BigDaddyFin on November 14, 2012, 11:57:37 am I have an even worse feeling.
Short practice week Another third tier team where you only need to stop 1 player. Our Secondary can't cover a high school team. Fitzpatrick is good enough to exploit that weakness. Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: Pappy13 on November 14, 2012, 12:41:54 pm I have just the opposite feeling. I think Miami was embarrassed and will respond with a strong performance. The short week actually works in their favor as no one really was banged up in the Tennessee game and Miami should be fresher than Buffalo that had to actually play 4 QTR's of football. I don't think Miami really played 1.
Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: fyo on November 15, 2012, 06:49:28 am I might have thrown something at my TV last Sunday, had I not been sick to my stomach from the pathetic effort put forth by the Dolphins.
I really have no idea what to expect tonight against the Bills. The one thing that I was most encouraged by this season was that our defense was no longer allowing passes to WIDE FREAKING OPEN receivers. You know, those throws to receivers where there isn't even an aqua player in the shot. Other teams have maybe one or two of those a game, we've been giving them up once a drive, particularly against no-huddle. Until the Colts game, that blundering pass D was gone from Miami. Now it's been all we've seen two weeks straight and I can't help but wonder if that's what we can expect from here on out. If so, we are screwed. Against the Bills, against the Seahawks... hell, a Henne-powered Jacksonville offense could rip us to shreds. Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MikeO on November 15, 2012, 08:05:29 am In the NFL you usually don't see teams put out pathetic efforts in back to back weeks.Usually! I think Miami will come out tonight and play well and put out a great effort Will they win? Different story. But I think they will play hard at the very least.
Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: bsfins on November 15, 2012, 08:50:43 am I think the defense is going to play like a bunch of wild crazy dogs tonight....
Dolphins win 23-20 If you're going to the Game please post some pictures! That pass D gave up 300+ yards to Sanchez, Kolb, and Bradford- who have averaged less than 200 ypg against the rest of the league between them. Miami's secondary has stunk all year! -EK Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: fyo on November 15, 2012, 12:58:38 pm What games have you been watching? All of them. Lots of teams / defenses give up a lot of yards. However, one thing *specifically* has bothered me about the Dolphins pass D for years now: Giving up passes to WIDE OPEN receivers. Yeah, Sanchez and others still threw for a lot of yards, but -- as you well know -- yards aren't everything. Sanchez threw the ball a billion times (well, okay, 54 times), which is BELOW his average. So I actually think the pass D was pretty decent that game. However, you are right that the D is still giving up a lot of yards. Too many yards. BUT, and this is the point, until the Colts game, the completions were almost always to players who were covered in some way. There weren't a lot of those 15-30 yard throws with absolutely NO ONE around the receiver. Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MikeO on November 15, 2012, 01:25:23 pm The Dolphins are 8th in scoring defense thus far. They have been very good. Top 5 against the run. Much like last year, they are SOOOO GOOD against the run that many teams don't even attempt to run the ball much vs the Fins and will throw more because it's the only shot they have to move the ball. Making the pass defense stats inflated. Not to mention heading into the Tenn game PFF had the Fins defense Ranked #1 overall in the league (they use some different way to figure there rankings out based on where opposing teams start drives based on a few other factors that go deep inside the stat sheet and games.) Like if a fumble gives the opponent the ball on the 10 yard line they don't punish the defense heavily for giving up points there. They have their own way of ranking this stuff.
Even in the Indy game, yes Luck got lots of yards but they only gave up 23 friggin points! The defense did bend but it sure as hell didn't break!! The Dolphins defense isn't perfect but it ain't f'n bad either! Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: MikeO on November 15, 2012, 01:28:07 pm What games have you been watching? The ones YOU SAY you aren't watching I've caught roughly half of the Phins games, Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: EKnight on November 15, 2012, 03:38:13 pm All of them. There weren't a lot of those 15-30 yard throws with absolutely NO ONE around the receiver. Holmes was like five yards ahead of the defender on the 38 yard OT pass vs. the Jets. I get what you're saying though, but if QBs are able to just rack up yards and move the ball against Miami more or less at will, that's an issue, whether they're 5 yards open or 1 yard open. I do see what you're saying though- I guess I misinterpreted your post. -EK Title: Re: Dolphins vs Bills this Thursday Post by: CF DolFan on November 15, 2012, 03:52:28 pm Inside of the division one can pretty much throw out statistics. These games are almost always up fr grabs.
I got a bad feeling. It's kind of funny but I think we will play well based on two of the reasons you said that we wouldn't. I think motives and morale play a huge part of how much people get out of themselves. On a short week it's hard to emotionally get recharged but when you get your butt kicked it doesn't take much to get focused.- Miami coming off a terrible showing at home - Buffalo was 1 play away from beating the Pats on the road - Night game at an away stadium to a nationally televised audience Like some others, I think Buffalo a better team than they are given credit for Miami - 13 Buffalo - 24 Just for giggles i will predict the opposite. Miami 24 Buffalo 13 |
