Title: NE @ Miami
Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 26, 2012, 02:22:16 pm
If NE wins, they clinch the division.

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: masterfins on November 26, 2012, 02:45:14 pm
I think its safe to say that NE has already won the division.  NE is just playing for seeding spot now.

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 26, 2012, 03:01:13 pm
^^^^ Pretty much.  But they haven't offically won it yet.  If they win this weekend they get the t-shirts and hats.

They don't have much of a shot at the #1 or #2 seed.  And the difference between being a 3 vs a 4 is minor.  They will be hosting Colts, Steelers or Bengals wildcard weekend.

^^^Steelers are falling like a lead balloon, I don't see them making the post season.

Dolphins have 2 things working for them.

1) Gronkowski is out.
2) Brady is not a mobile QB.

Unfortunately I don't think either will be that much of a problem for NE, but it might be close for a while.

Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 26, 2012, 03:14:25 pm
^^^^  No, it's not looking good for the Steelers.

I think we can plan on WC weekend being either:

Cin @ NE
Indy @ Denver

or

Indy @ NE
Cin @ Denver

Let the rivalry hate begin....

Two made kicks, and this game actually means something.

Cincy and Pittsburgh are both in about the same boat. They both have the same record and they both play Baltimore, San Diego and Dallas and they play each other. Cincy also plays Philadelphia and Pittsburgh plays Cleveland, neither of which are very good. My guess is that whichever team wins the head to head matchup will go to the playoffs and the other will be out. There's still a small chance that they both lose 3 games and both finish at 8-8 and leave the door open for someone else to catch them, possibly even someone from the AFC East. I did NOT say Miami!!!

Flying in from Montreal!

Thank God they won yesterday, at least the gloom and doom is gone for the time being.

Hoping we don't get blown out and the game is competitive.  Will be there cheering no matter what!

Predicting:

New England  34
Miami              27

Good close game, but we come up short once again.  Hope I'm wrong!

Title: Re: NE @ Miami

I think the game will be close. I don't see NE running with much success against Miami. Pats WR's might have a decent game this week if they go after Staford/Carroll which I expect they will all game long. Brady is good enough to abuse poor corners.

I could see it being a FG/TD game either way. If NE brings their" A" game on offense though (even without Gronk) they could easily put up a bunch of points and win in a blowout. If it were in NE I think the Pats would win easily, since its in Miami I think it will be tight for the most part. Pats probably win but by no more than 10 and if the Fins won I wouldn't be shocked.

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: Cathal on November 26, 2012, 06:48:38 pm
The game could be close at the start, maybe even to the half. But come the 2nd half, NE will absolutely light up our secondary and just run away with it. I only say it'll be close by the half just because the Dolphins always seem to give the Pats some trouble for a while. When the Pats get up by two touchdowns, the game will be over. We don't have an explosive team that can put up quick scores (or many scores).

Title: Re: NE @ Miami

If Andrew Luck set records against our secondary, put Brady down for 600 yards.

It's in Miami and home teams usually get about 3 points just for being at home. Anytime a home team is an underdog by more than 1 score, that's a pretty big line.

And they've scored around 100 points in their past 2 games total. Doesn't look like they miss Gronk at all. -EK

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: Fins4ever on November 27, 2012, 11:09:39 am
Like I said on another thread. The Fins just don't match up well with the Pats. The Pats are strong in the passing game and the pass D for the Fins is horrible.

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: masterfins on November 27, 2012, 11:43:30 am
NE is tired from scoring all those points the last couple weeks.  Plus I think they will be looking past the Dolphins, and just enjoy the warmth of the FLA sun.

Miami  28

New England  17

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: BigDaddyFin on November 27, 2012, 11:57:06 am
Our secondary couldn't cover a high school team and we haven't had a turnover on defense in 5 games.  Unless the pass rush has a game like it had at Arizona and Brady coughs the ball up a couple times this team has no chance.  He's gonna eat our pass defense for breakfast.

Pats scored 35 of those points on D and special teams, and they have a 10 day rest. Doubtful the offense is fatigued. Biggest stat coming into this game: NE is a ridiculous plus 24 in the giveaway/takeaway category. Miami is minus 10. They turn the ball over too much and don't create enough turnovers to win against New England. Pats 37 Phins 20. -EK

If the spread is 9 pts and I was betting I would take the home dog. Straight up I say NE 24 - Mia 17, in a game that NE dominates despite the close score.

Miami - 17

Brady 42,the Dolphins 17....Ditka 107... :P

Miami only wins if New England realizes their division was clinched on Opening Day and they pull a NY Giants and just choose to not give it their best.

Turnovers will be the key. NE has only beaten 2 pretty good opponents, Denver and Indy. Denver turned the ball over 3 times and Indy turned the ball over 4 times. NE was a combined 7-1 on turnover ratio in those 2 games. If Miami turns the ball over it will be a blowout, but if Miami is able to protect the ball and make NE go the length of the field to score, the score could be fairly close.

Turnovers has been the primary reason for NE success.  NE has won the turnover battle in all but one game (Sea, tied at 2 @, NE lost).  The two NE losses, NE was +1 in turnovers.  The only other game where they had ONLY a +1 TO the game went to overtime.  Every other game NE has been +2 or better.

If a team can win the TO battle they can beat NE pretty easily.  But with the offenses ability to protect the ball and the defenses abality to steal it that is easier said than done.

In their winning streak, they're averaging close to 40 a game and Brady has what- a dozen or more TDs against no interception? This is the Pats team I thought we'd see all year. -EK

I saw an interview with Brady at the beginning of the year when N.E. was not playing nearly as well and he said, "coach said that the "real season" doesn't start until Thanksgiving".  The Pats have improved consistently all year, which is what you want to do.

Ha! you got me,I'm wrong......Maybe it would be slightly less with his recent stroke...

Personally My faith in winning this game is low...Could we win, Yes...Do I think we're going to win No...

I'd like us to at least start strong, positive plays, get in some type of rhythm...I feel recently Titans,Bills and Seattle,It seems like we've stumbled out of the gate, (The Titans especially but even against the Bills, and Seattle till the 4th Qtr) it never felt like we were running with all 12 cylinders...We sputtered along on 6 or 8...Yeah O-line protection,turnovers,etc,etc...

Exactly.  Folks look at the 8-3 record and say "they ain't as good as they have been in the past"  In some ways that is true.  But on the very positive side, they had two loses early in the season and have been IMPROVING every week.  In contrast to say the 2007 season in which they were playing their best football in September and October and steadily declined.

You want to peak in January and February.  Granted you need to be decent from Sept - Dec to get a shot at January, but I like NE's trajectory.  And for all the hand wring over Gronk, NE will win the division without him, as long as he is healthy for January 6/7 all is good.

Title: Re: NE @ Miami
Post by: MikeO on November 30, 2012, 06:19:06 pm
The Pats are like the NY Yankees. Nobody cares about the regular season or #1 seeds or homefield advantage. There season starts in January and will be judged starting in January!

They have gotten to that level!

Yeah, ussually early in the season you get one --in a couple of days it might read something like this.....

Patriots* 9-3
Dolphins 5-7
Jets 4-8
Bills 4-8

*Clinched division and playoff berth.

The Giants may end up getting an asterisk too. I wouldn't be surprised if they faced off in the Superbowl again. It's an easier road when you can take it easy for 6 games a year.

1) overthrow that should have been a touchdown

2) penalty negating a touchdown

3) penalty keeping a Patriots drive alive

Go fuck yourself Fireman EK! Go jerk off to one of your many Tebow posters hanging in your bedroom! You cry like a little bitch and run to the mods when people call you out, but in the next breath you do the same exact thing!!

It's clear you aren't a Dolphins fan. You just come here to rag on them at every turn. After a good play and team wins you aren't here. After losses and the first bad play of a game you run here to rub it in everyone's face and call it out. You are worthless on every level and add NOTHING to this website at all.
