So, you're saying that Tebow will always have a job with the J-E-T-S...

Like the loser that he is, he will be back. Losers just have that unexplained attraction for other losers. What I like the best is the other losers in the stands criticize loser fireman ned for supporting fellow loser Mark Sanchez.

Can't we all just get along? lol

PS. Did I mention he was a loser?

Fireman Ed is a tool. Typical front running fan who can run their mouth during the good times but once the going gets tough they go run and hide.

Once the Jets are good again he will put on the pro wrestling gimmick outfit and go back to acting like a fool at Jets games.

He has been cheering for decades. I would not call the last 40 years of Jets football the "good times".

The jests will NEVER be good again. They will enter a total rebuild from the GM to the waterboy 5 minutes after the season.

He was a Dolphins fan in high school. Switched teams. He was there when all the fans loved him and adored him. When he had his "licensing deal" with the NFL and he was making money of this stupid gimmick. Now when some of the fans yell at him he is going to run and hide. A total tool!

He used to go on WFAN Radio all the time and talk trash about other fans, now when some of his own fans turn on him he doesn't like it. Typical guy who can dish it out but can't take it!

According to Fireman Ed, it's Tebowmania that has driven him off of his post (http://www.metro.us/newyork/sports/article/1156831--guest-column-fireman-ed-steps-away-but-not-as-fan) (emphasis added):

"I decided to leave Thursday because the confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic.

This is an indication of how society has lost and is continuing to lose respect for one another. The stadium has become divided because of the quarterback controversy as well. The fact that I chose to wear a Mark Sanchez jersey this year and that fans think I am on the payroll — which is an outright lie — have made these confrontations more frequent. Whether it’s in the stands, the bathroom or the parking lot, these confrontations are happening on a consistent basis.

Although I can 'hold my own,' I do not want to lose my temper and make a stupid mistake. I have a responsibility to the families and kids that enjoy the game and Fireman Ed."

Another scalp for St. Timothy!

Actually he was a Dolphins fan until he was 10.

I was a 49ers and Chargers fan when I was younger, along with a Dolphins fan, growing up in Cali.  Doesn't mean anything.

I have absolutely no love for Fireman Ed but let's be real. If you were constantly getting beat up and belittled by people and were not getting paid or benefiting from it then it would have a negative affect on you too. People are taking their frustrations out on him as if he has anything to do with their sucking.  I can absolutely see why he would bail from his public persona.

What is even worse is that it is coming from other Jet's fans. I understand taking some good natured ribbing from Bill's fans in NY but I can't imagine going to a Dolphins game and having to defend myself to Dolphin's fans over and over.

^^I used to see this a lot covering the Red Sox.  Fans who would wear a jersey of a player who has been traded, or left, would be screamed at, heckled, etc.  God forbid you wear a Red Sox Damon or Clemens jersey into Fenway ~ a REDSOX jersey ~ other REDSOX fans will let you have it.  Additionally, if you're wearing a Papelbon jersey and he blows a save, some drunk clown will give you crap about it on the way out as if you blew the save yourself.  I'm sure this happens everywhere.  Doesn't shock me with Ed wearing a Sanchez jersey...

Excellent point, but I thought he was getting benefits from his gig. No?

I have to agree with the guy that fans can be morons even in your own stadium, but is this REALLY what you want to be known for or contribute to the human race?

"Hi I'm some bald headed fucker who runs around in a Jets Fireman hat and a Jets Jersey and I yell J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! and I end up on camera every week because this hat makes me easy to spot."

To me he's no more significant than that trombone player who got run over at the end of the Cal-Stanford game with all the laterals.

I hope whenever I die I have just slightly more significant impact.

The sports media is about 15 teams large and consists of: Lakers, Heat, Celtics, Knicks, Cowboys, Giants, Jets, Eagles, Steelers, Patriots, Yankees, Red Sox

If the conversation for these teams isn't warranted, they will find ways to talk about them anyway.  I swear, when I drove back from the Jets game to Florida, we got to hear national radio for 2 straight days.  The story wasn't about the Dolphins beating the Jets.  The story was that the Jets lost.

A Jets fan retiring is a national story.  How ridiculous is that?  If Big Papa Pump retires because we suck, you think that's making it on to ESPN?

Super Fans do get some special treatment and perks but not financial help.  For instance ... Papa Pump for the Dolphins has been in commercials and been able to attend various events that others would find difficult to get into. It also gives him access to players and staff that most people do not have.  He might get a few sponsors but nothing from the team. More than anything he gets to hug lots of women!!!

We all know the media is biased on several issues, why should sports be any different?

I love superfans.  All of the Dolphins superfans I've ever met have been incredibly welcoming, warm, and inclusive.  Big Papa Pump is just a regular guy, but now, he gets other people involved.  He gets the crowd going.  ...and if you walk up to him, he'll be happy to see you.

The Bandits are the same way.  I ran into "Dolph Vader" the other day and he took a picture and gave me a business card.

I think that "what they get out of it" is that they get to be a bigger part of the game.  As long as they continue to make the game enjoyable for the other fans, I hope they do.

That was my exact thought yesterday when I saw this on ESPNs website.....Who gives a shit. I actually commented on the story asking why this was news and of course all the little trolls told me how I fail at life because I read the story and commented on it.

Yep. And his favorite all time player is Paul Warfield (he still claims that to this day)
