One thing's for sure.  This is definitely a wild Wild Card weekend (pun intended).  The Redskins, Seahawks, Colts, and Vikings are what make it wild.  I'll bet that there aren't too many fans who, at the beginning of the season, thought that these four teams would still be playing at this point.  Here are my predictions:

Ravens at Broncos- The Ravens defense shut down a good quarterback in Andrew Luck... in front of their home crowd.  Now they face one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game in Peyton Manning.... in front of a hostile crowd in the thin air.  Denver's defense is just as talented and stifling as Baltimore's.  And Joe Flacco is no Peyton Manning.     

Prediction:  Broncos    


Texans at Patriots- Houston's offense struggled mightily to beat Cincinnati.  Despite outplaying the Bengals in nearly every facet of the game, the Texans won by a small margin.  While you have to give credit to the Texans defense for shutting down AJ Green and harassing Andy Dalton, they will not be able to do the same against Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez, and The Gronk.

Prediction: Patriots


Packers at Niners- Aaron Rodgers struggled mightily in the season opener in San Francisco.  I'm sure he will have a fire in his belly to exact revenge.  Considering he has improved tremendously since his slow start to open the season, I'm sure this game will be a lot closer.  However, Colin Kaepernick brings an added dimension to the Niners attack that the Packers will not be able to contain.  This game will be a lot closer than the season opener, but the home crowd tips the scales.

Prediction: Niners


Seahawks at Falcons  The Seahawks had trouble stopping RGIII, until he re-injured his knee and could not do what he does best.  Matt Ryan is fully healthy, in front of his home crowd, and has some dangerous targets downfield in Julio Jones and Roddy White.  Add two talented running backs to pound the ball and it will be too much for Seattle to handle, even with Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch leading the charge.

Prediction: Falcons

Green Bay is the only road team worth a crap.

Really surprised that Seattle isn't getting more love. They go on the road and down 14-0 at the end of the first don't seem rattled or intimidated in the least. Their defense is the best of the remaining teams, IMO, and Marshawn doesn't appear to be able to be brought down by less than three defenders. I seriously haven't seen someone run like he does in a long time. I know Washington finished the game with no RG3, but he doesn't play defense. If Lynch doesn't fumble twice, they may have won by 20+. I don't see him turning it over like that again. -EK

Personally, I think Seattle is garbage.  But that's just me.  Smoke and Mirrors.  When did Marshawn Lynch, the bum-ass-bum that couldn't even see the field in Buffalo, become a stud? 

Their defense is above average - NOT even close to the best left.  San Fran, Denver, Baltimore, and maybe Atlanta are all better units. 

Washington handed them that game.  They shouldn't even be this far.  They'll be exposed this week by the NFC #1 seed.

That same defense that lost to Miami, and barely beat St. Louis last week. They are not consistent. They go from being dominant, to mediocre. Not the top defense left.

Above average? Inconsistent? They were 4th in yards allowed, led the league in points against, top 10 in INTs, and top 5 in forced fumbles. I think that's a bit better than "average." Their last five games they've outscored it's opponents 194-57. That's an avg of right at 4 TD's per game. Seriously, does this board just poo poo on every team that's not Miami? Or do you guys just not watch any other teams? -EK

They have been really really good on both sides of the ball the last half of the season.  They are a punishing team and will give Atlanta all they can handle next weekend.  Really think that wilson was the pick of the draft...good head on his shoulders with RG3 type speed...(did you see that block he made on their TD?)  Very very imporessed with this kid!

Seattle struggled in Miami against a combination of our defence being very good and playing in the South Florida heat...same goes for the St.Louis game.

Seattle's best pass rusher, Chris Clemons tore his ACL yesterday. 

I am also 4-0 in the first week.

That's all we differ this week.

See, that's just it - I WATCH games.  Every team.  Know what I don't do?  Look at stats.  Don't care.  I watch games.  I see what teams are good at and what teams are not good at.  I am pretty sure Seattle, while they have may have a decent defense, could get torched by MOST of the other 7 teams remaining. 

So did you watch them drop like 150 points in three games, during which time the defense forced 13 turnovers, scored 28 points and put an ass-cutting to the tune of 42-13 against SF? I watched 2 of those games and a the first half of the third, and I can tell you Seattle is no joke. -EK

Yup, sure did.  I also watched them put up a whopping 6 points against San Fran when they had to travel, as well as losing to both Detroit and Miami on the road.  The Seahawks are a completely different team away from CenturyLink Field and, incase you weren't sure, they have to visit three different stadiums to get to the dance.

Seriously, that will do a monster TV rating and be the talk of the country! Oh the story-lines there. I don't think it will happen but if it did it would be great! Those replacement refs will be front and center for one week talking about everything again.

If you gave me GB-Seattle followed by Brady-Manning...oh my god. Just turn off the cell phone and lock me in my house for the day!!

If that happens, I'll tell my wife to make me enough seven layer dip for the day in our biggest glass baking dish.  I'll throw a case of Landshark in my cooler and head down to the marina to my boat and button down the hatch.

Might want to bone up on that nautical vernacular, Professor Shandlark...it's "batten" down the hatch.

Marshawn Lynch is jacked up on steroids Captain Obvious. The same roids that the Legion of Boom managed to avoid suspension on another stupid technicality. Its not hard to figure out. The same can be said for Adrian Petersons miraculous recovery this season. Call a spade a spade.

SEA was getting manhandled until RG3 got injured.  That's not exactly the most inspiring performance.

The Seahawks have an above-average defense that becomes dominant and suffocating at home, where the opponent is not allowed to audible at all.  Had Sunday's game been played @SEA, SEA would have won by 3+ TDs (even without the injury to RG3).

Denver, New England, Green Bay, Atlanta!!!!!

7-0 Broncos and Peyton Manning hasn't even touched the ball.

And Baltimore quickly ties it up with a 59 yard bomb from Joe Flacco to Torrey Smith.  A pass interference call extended this drive.

Third down and Peyton Manning throws a pick six.  14-7 Ravens and this Mile High crowd, so lively to start off, is now a morgue.

And Peyton Manning redeemable himself with an impressive drive, culminating in a parachute touchdown pass that only a great quarterback can make.  Tied at 14 and its still the first quarter

Moreno lines up as a receiver and catches a beautiful rainbow shot from Manning.  21-14 Denver.  On a side note, it looks like a lot of calls are going against Denver.

And after a missed Broncos field goal, Torrey Smith makes an extremely athletic move and catches the game tying touchdown!!!  21 all going into the locker room. 

Where is everybody??

Finally a decent playoff game!

If I'm the Ravens I keep going to Smith...Bailey can't keep up with him!

And if I'm the Broncos, I keep going with Holliday.  He just started off the fireworks in thus second half with his second kick return touchdown of the day.

And a promising drive by the Ravens comes to a screeching halt when Flacco fumbled the snap away.  Denver ball.

Are the replacement refs back?  Really some horrible calls....it's like they are Broncos fans! >:(

The Ravens defense has owned Peyton Manning in the second half. 

Flacco has done nothing in the 2nd half. Does he even have 10 yards passing? He has 6 min to save his season and his career in B'more

The Ravens defense is completely gassed at this point and Flacco has failed to convert a fourth down deep in Denver territory.

Soooooo many big plays in one game! This makes up for how bad the first game was last week. Flacco now averaging 19.2 yards per completion. Pro Bowl kick returner on Balt. but Denver gets 2 return TDs. Craziness! -EK

Kaepernick looks so good.  I have been underestimating him all season.  That last TD was a ridiculous throw, and kid's got wheels.

He still makes me nervous on some plays, and he needs to work more with his WRs on catching his fastball, but man...he sure is looking good.

Marino never had teams loaded like Peyton did. Peyton has come up small time and time again. His legacy will be the greatest regular season QB to ever play in the sport. But come playoff time he chokes! That pass in OT that was picked off was downright horrible. No excuse for that from a hall of fame player

Today's loss falls on the lap of 2 people

1) Jon Fox for having no guts and trying to win the game in regulation with 2 timeouts and a hall of fame QB
2) Peyton for a terrible INT in OT

Yes the defense gave up a hail mary late to let Baltimore tie it but Fox and Peyton did NOTHING after that play and went into "turtle mode"

I think Manning has played well in the playoffs, but just hasn't gotten the support that other quarterbacks have

Wow this is looking like another good game.

He has had hall of fame WR in Harrison. Reggie Wayne ain't half bad either and is borderline hall of fame player. Throw in top flight TE's. Pro Bowl o-linemen. Guys like Freeney and Bob Sanders on defense. A borderline hall of fame kicker (and there ain't many kickers in the H.O.F)!  He has had loaded teams. Teams that have won 14 and 15 games in the regular season!

Wow, Ted Ginn can actually block??

He just had a very impressive downfield block to allow Kap to get the edge and a first down.

Ginn's usage with SF is so tiny these days. I do like it when he contributes though...that's more than we've gotten from our first round draft pick (A.J. Jenkins) this season.

But look at how well they performed in the playoffs.

In his last three playoff one and dones, he's posted a rating over 90 each time.

Three times, his defense has given up fourth quarter leads.

Manning has very good playoff numbers.

Kap had a monster first half... 148 yards and 2 TDs passing, 107 yards and 1 TD rushing. I love Alex Smith, and hope he has success on his next stop, but Alex just can't do the things that Kaepernick can.

From what I seen today you may be right , He looks like a De with the big arms and tats , When he ran and was sandwiched between two green bay players he spiked the ball at them. I didn't know Kal-el had tatoo's . I wish the dolphins would have drafted him . Don't get me wrong I am on board with RT for another year , But he was impressive today . I got texts during the game from 14 different friends/fellow Niners fans. This game was nice, but SF needs two more wins for it to all mean something, and there won't be any more easy wins.

Seriously what do you expect from MikeO? He's not happy unless he's tearing someone else down. It's his MO. It's all he does. 15 minutes before the game ended he posted how Flacco was having the worst game and he sucked. Then when Flacco throws a bomb TD, Mike has to edit his post and attack manning instead. The guy isn't happy unless he can find something negative to post. How this behavior surprises anyone is beyond me at this point. Everyone else is amazed at the Ravens' win and the incredible back and forth game, and he's posting about how Tebow's brother is happy Manning lost and calling Manning a choker. Hypocrisy, anyone? -EK

Since I spent all of yesterday at work (I watched the second quarter of the Denver-Baltimore game on my break) I am looking forward to watching the two games today.

Everyone was lauding Seattle's defense before this game.  It's Atlanta's defense who owns the field

And Seattle just pulled to within six after they capitalize on a Matt Ryan interception.  The ghosts are swirling in the Georgia Dome

Two minute warning and Seattle just took over.  Can they pull off a comeback??

Holy crap!!!!!  Lynch fumbled at the goal line and the ball bounced into the hands of a Seahawk offensive lineman!!!!!!   Touchdown Seattle!!!!

I have a good friend up in DC who is a Ravens fanatic,. He's been talking up a potential Harbaugh vs Harbaugh Super Bowl all season. I'm just not sure I see anyone knocking the Patriots out of the AFC side at this point. I think they'll take care of Houston with ease today, and I think they can handle Baltimore in the AFC title game.

My girl went into labor last year when the 49ers lost to the Giants.  I was pretty hammered and told her "just have the baby already now, we're not going to the SB!  >:(" 8 hours later I get woken up by a call to get my ass to the hospital...

Baby boy was born in 2012, the Giants won the World Series now the 'Niners are 2 games away.   :o

I'm much more relieved to see the Falcons in that game than the Seahawks.

I know, every given Sunday/Saturday, but when it comes to the Patriots, I pretty much think they're invincible in the post season. Plus, I'd put Brady above Manning.I'm just pessimistic when it comes to the Pats. ;)

Wrong.  New England has outplayed Houston.  Houston is lucky to be down by only seven points.

Atlanta won but its more relief than joy. They got flat out lucky. Atlanta took off the 2nd half like Seattle took off the 1st half!  Wilson not being able to at least get a FG at the end of the 1st half cost them. That mistake hurt bad in the end.

Happy to see Pete Carroll lose though! I don't like him! He can enjoy that long flight home!

That's my point. They should be up by more than 4 at the half and they aren't, this they aren't dominating the way I expected. -EK

While I think as of today SF should win. A cross country flight is always tricky, never know how teams will react. Plus in this league its very up and down. Teams look great one week and bad the next and vice versa.  If Atlanta is a home dog (which they might be) that might motivate them. And if SF gets caught reading their press clippings that might backfire. Interesting game next week. Really could go either way I think.

The next time Houston wins a big game will be the first time they win a big game!

Last week. 

Beating a dead Cincy team at home isn't a big win in my eyes (I know some will disagree and thats fine). Wild Card rounds wins at home are nice wins but this team has been knocking on the door for years. Every time they get to this round they choke like dogs! In big regular season games they choke. In the big playoff games they choke.

Last week was a nice win.

Could Jim Nantz be any happier the Pats are winning. Jesus I know he and the Kraft family and the Bush family all eat there little meals up in Maine a few times a year and party but my god he sounds like the Pats local radio announcers at times!

Someone else mentioned that the end of the SEA-ATL game makes John Fox's decision to sit on the ball with Peyton under center look even more ridiculous.
