Title: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 07, 2013, 05:58:59 pm A couple tidbits I found today. Remember to take all of this stuff with a grain of salt as a lot of "mis-information" is floated out this time of year
According @BenVolinPBP if #Packers CB Sam Shields is tendered with a second round pick the #Dolphins could show interest. Adam Schefter is reporting Sean Smith is the #1 Free Agent CB on the market this year Ben Volin reports the Fins have a clear advantage over the Vikings in the race to land Mike Wallace but other teams (Cleveland and New England) will be in the mix Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 07, 2013, 08:53:28 pm Charles Woodson - DB - Free Agent
Sources tell ESPN that the Seahawks, Dolphins, Jets and Giants are among the teams that have called to discuss free agent S Charles Woodson. Woodson's agent is trying to drum up interest for his client. At age 36, he's expected to sign on with a contender that can offer him meaningful playing time. Therefore, we can throw out the Jets and Dolphins. Woodson is our No. 6 safety available now that Jairus Byrd has been franchise tagged. Related: Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Seahawks Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 07, 2013, 10:08:10 pm Sources tell ESPN that the Seahawks, Dolphins, Jets and Giants are among the teams that have called to discuss free agent S Charles Woodson. Woodson's agent is trying to drum up interest for his client. After consulting with Sherlock Holmes, it has been determined that the "source" is "Woodson's agent." Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 08, 2013, 06:33:46 am Ben Volin reporting the Fins want to sign at least 1 more of their own guys before Tuesday at 4pm.
With Hartline now complete, Volin is reporting the Fins will now turn their attention to Jake Long and Matt Moore Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Landshark on March 08, 2013, 07:50:21 am After consulting with Sherlock Holmes, it has been determined that the "source" is "Woodson's agent." Elementary my dear Watson. Elementary. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 08, 2013, 04:36:40 pm Ben Volin reporting 0% chance Sean Smith returns. CB market is now flooded with talent after all the recent cuts. No need to overspend on anyone at that position.
(0% is kinda strong, Ben should have hedged his bet a bit and said 1%....lol) Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 08, 2013, 04:40:08 pm Free Agency essentially starts midnight tonight, Wallace could "agree to terms" to a deal with someone tonight but not sign it till Tuesday obviously. An announcement could be made tonight as well. Could see some news in the morning on that front on where he is going.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 09, 2013, 05:18:18 pm RUMOR making the rounds this afternoon the NFL world is Miami is going to offer Mike Wallace 6 years $75 mill. No word on how much guaranteed.

Mike Wallace prefers warm weather! Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 09, 2013, 06:56:11 pm I love how the reporters speculate about player's weather preferences. How many people PREFER cold weather? While I am sure Miami is a million times nicer of a place to live in than say St. Louis, it only matters if the money is equal or that player lives in Miami and has family there.
If the North Pole had a team and they outbid all the other teams by $6 Million guaranteed a year, Peyton Manning would hold a press conference saying how excited he is to be an "Aurora Borealis" and wants to bring a championship home for Santa. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 09, 2013, 07:45:54 pm Adam Beasley of the Herald reporting Jennings agent and Miami had very little contact on Saturday
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 09, 2013, 07:55:08 pm I take that as a good thing. To me, Jennings is a name only at this point like Charles Woodson. Don't bid on names, bid on production.

San Fran interested in Sean Smith Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 12, 2013, 03:30:41 pm Omar reporting Miami will sign a CB or Safety today he is hearing. Could it be Keenan Lewis from Pitt. Who was high school buddies with Wallace?!
Pitt hasn't talked to Lewis about a new deal yet. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: bsfins on March 12, 2013, 04:07:49 pm RUMOR: Fasano to the Chiefs...Per Mike Carafolo on twitter Tweeted by Ben Volin (who then tweeted not yet signed)

Miami is a serious player with Cook Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 12, 2013, 04:29:58 pm Wallace and Miami have an agreement...still to sign, but he's currently taking his physical for the team doctors. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 16, 2013, 06:34:28 pm Ben Volin reporting he is hearing Bees might be in trouble in Miami. His time on the Fins may very well be over.
And Volin is saying that the Lance Louis visit this week was for replacing Jon Jerry. Jerry either becomes a back-up swing TACKLE or will play right tackle if they can't sign Jake. Jerry to slow to play guard in Philbin's offense Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Landshark on March 16, 2013, 08:20:07 pm Ben Volin reporting he is hearing Bees might be in trouble in Miami. His time on the Fins may very well be over. I've heard multiple rumors about this as well. This would not be a smart move by Ireland. Who will play the slot? Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 16, 2013, 08:26:39 pm I've heard multiple rumors about this as well. This would not be a smart move by Ireland. Who will play the slot? someone they probably draft Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 18, 2013, 04:45:21 pm RUMOR going around that Indy might be working on a trade for Bess
Reporters in Indy believe its either Bess or Emanual Sanders that Irsay is hinting at that he is trading for Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: masterfins on March 18, 2013, 05:19:48 pm Unfortuneately I don't see Bess staying with the Fins since the big contract to Hartline.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Brian Fein on March 18, 2013, 05:25:03 pm I don't see how you can afford to move forward without him. Given his work on special teams, he better be looking at Percy-Harvin-esque trade value.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 18, 2013, 06:46:57 pm I don't see how you can afford to move forward without him. Given his work on special teams, he better be looking at Percy-Harvin-esque trade value. He is in the final year of his deal. After giving NEW contracts to Wallace, Hartline, Gibson...Bess probably WON'T get a new contract next year. Move him now and get something for him. Or let him walk and get nothing for him next year. Moving him now is the way to go. Especially since Rishard Mathews played well last year and could easily be a #4 WR and not hurt this team. Or they draft Austin at #12 and he is more explosive than Bess. Boldin went for a 6th but he had a big cap number/contract. Bess could probably fetch a 5th in return since his cap number is much smaller. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 19, 2013, 05:30:59 pm Tony McDaniel isn't getting re-signed by the Fins. Was a good player for depth but he is always injured!
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 19, 2013, 05:52:20 pm I don't see how you can afford to move forward without him (Bess). Given his work on special teams, he better be looking at Percy-Harvin-esque trade value. Davone Bess... Percy Harvin-esque value? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry, I tried to hold it in...but that shit was straight-up hysterical. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 19, 2013, 07:06:31 pm Marlon Moore is gone. Signed with SF today
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: mecadonzilla on March 19, 2013, 10:27:21 pm No loss at all here.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 19, 2013, 11:55:25 pm Gonna miss Moore, he was a good Wideout. Or Corner. I have no idea who he was.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 20, 2013, 02:02:20 am Moore signed a 1-year cheapie contract...I'll be surprised if he makes the roster. He can play some special teams, but I haven't heard that he's anything special there either. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 20, 2013, 06:59:18 pm Brandon Moore (Sanchez Butt Fumble guy) Visited with the Dolphins today per Ben Volin
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Landshark on March 21, 2013, 08:02:38 am Winston and right guard Brandon Moore are expected to meet with Jeff Ireland today. Let's hope he can get some deals done. This would be a major, major upgrade on the right side of the line.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on March 21, 2013, 02:27:52 pm So let me get this right: the Jets are keeping Sanchez and getting rid of the guy who Mark ran into...... And the Dolphins are considering signing him so Tanehill can run the same play.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 22, 2013, 06:41:31 am The NFL Schedule is being released April 16th
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: el diablo on March 22, 2013, 11:53:19 am So let me get this right: the Jets are keeping Sanchez and getting rid of the guy who Mark ran into...... And the Dolphins are considering signing him so Tanehill can run the same play. Not Moore's fault for having a dumbass QB. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on March 22, 2013, 12:44:17 pm Not Moore's fault for having a dumbass QB. Sanchez being a dumbass was only half the reason for the fumble. Wilfork manhandling Moore and having Moore going backwards, when Sanchez was going forward was the other half. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Spider-Dan on March 22, 2013, 04:46:36 pm OLinemen have been manhandled and pushed backwards hundreds of times every season for the last ~40 years.
How many times have you seen a QB run into his own man hard enough to cause a fumble? That play was due to an exceptional lack of vision on the part of Sanchez. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 22, 2013, 05:37:42 pm Moore was rated the 4th best GUARD in the NFL last year by PFF. Guy has been a very good offensive guard going on a decade now. If Miami can sign him I am not worried about the "butt fumble" play one bit.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 22, 2013, 05:40:16 pm @ArmandoSalguero
Free agent DT Dwan Edwards visited the #Dolphins today the team confirmed. UPDATE: He re-signed with Carolina Friday night Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: el diablo on March 22, 2013, 05:56:50 pm Sanchez being a dumbass was only half the reason for the fumble. Wilfork manhandling Moore and having Moore going backwards, when Sanchez was going forward was the other half. Wrong. Moore was standing his ground on a QB draw. Wilford pushed Moore down after Sanchez (who was running with his head up) ran into Moore's backside. That was all Sanchez. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 22, 2013, 10:43:11 pm Reports are coming out that the Fins probably won't sign both Moore and Winston. That IF they sign Moore the plan would be to slide Jon Jerry back to his natural position of Right Tackle.
If they sign Winston the plan is to keep Jerry as a back-up "Swing Tackle" and use a draft pick to find a right guard. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 22, 2013, 10:47:27 pm If they sign Winston the plan is to keep Jerry as a back-up "Swing Tackle" and use a draft pick to find a right guard. Hmmmmm, Chance Warmack perhaps? Nah, while that would be a sweet O-line wet dream, I'm pretty sure that Miami would wait until round two for the OG pick. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 22, 2013, 10:49:45 pm Hmmmmm, Chance Warmack perhaps? Nah, while that would be a sweet O-line wet dream, I'm pretty sure that Miami would wait until round two for the OG pick. Warmack would be a perfect fit but I think the Fins fan base would revolt if Ireland took another o-linemen in Rd 1. Even though it might be the safest pick for us. We are about a month out and a lot can change but as of today I am thinking Miami is taking Rhodes, Austin, or Johnson IF they stay at #12 (which I am not sure they will ) Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 23, 2013, 12:30:54 am Warmack would be a perfect fit but I think the Fins fan base would revolt if Ireland took another o-linemen in Rd 1. Even though it might be the safest pick for us. They should check out some of the dividends that the 49ers got out of drafting 1st round O-linemen... Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Landshark on March 23, 2013, 09:31:37 am They should check out some of the dividends that the 49ers got out of drafting 1st round O-linemen... You gotta pick the right guys. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: masterfins on March 23, 2013, 05:48:58 pm You gotta pick the right guys. Thank you Captain Obvious. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Landshark on March 23, 2013, 07:19:17 pm Thank you Captain Obvious. Try showing The Irish Tuna duo this part of the thread. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Sunstroke on March 23, 2013, 07:37:37 pm I think Warmack would be the "right" player to pick there...assuming he's available, and if the draft team felt there was no doubt that they could pick up a quality corner early in round two (not a problem in this draft class, imo). I see him as a no-brainer lock for success. He has every physical tool you could want, and an elite "brain for the game." He's been NFL-ready for over a year, and I believe he'll be one of those "lock him in for the pro bowl" players every year. I know this team has defensive needs, but in the interests of maximizing the successful development of Miami's young QB and improving the overall production of the offense, I think Warmack would be a near-perfect pick. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 25, 2013, 06:51:35 am From the Miami Herald and Barry Jackson
Agent Drew Rosenhaus said on his weekly WSVN-7 segment that free agent offensive tackle Eric Winston "would really like to play" for the Dolphins and that the Dolphins have interest, but that the situation is "fluid." But the Dolphins have had a week to strike a deal since he visited and so far have not. The Dolphins, as of Saturday, had not shown any interest in free agent Bryant McKinnie, who also has expressed interest in the Dolphins. Miami also has considered a trade for Kansas City tackle Branden Albert. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Alwaysdullfan on March 28, 2013, 02:23:11 am I just hope Ireland doesnt spend all of the money cuz hes desperate to make something happen this season. I hope hes smart with the money, they've already spent alot of dough on these free agents I guess Id do the rest thru Draft. Get a good CB, good pass rusher, and maybe OL somewhere if still needed. But I hope they dont waste their top 2 picks on like a receiver or even TE. Maybe TE in later rounds, or big strong RB later in rounds. But first 3 picks at least id go defense, speciafically CB, DE..we need a pass rusher along side Wake.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: mecadonzilla on March 28, 2013, 04:40:51 pm They'd better pick up a runner in FA or draft one because there's not a decent RB on the roster now.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 28, 2013, 04:50:10 pm They'd better pick up a runner in FA or draft one because there's not a decent RB on the roster now. The coaches feel very differently. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on March 28, 2013, 04:56:49 pm I'd be more concerned with corners than RB's at this point.
Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: mecadonzilla on March 28, 2013, 07:51:59 pm The coaches feel very differently. Yeah, it reminds me of their nightmare of a receiving corps last year. They thought they had it covered, and they really, really did not. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: Cathal on March 28, 2013, 07:56:45 pm Yeah, it reminds me of their nightmare of a receiving corps last year. They thought they had it covered, and they really, really did not. They didn't think they had it covered. I mean, didn't they say on Hard Knocks that they wanted to cut every single receiver? Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on March 28, 2013, 08:05:31 pm Yeah, it reminds me of their nightmare of a receiving corps last year. They thought they had it covered, and they really, really did not. uh, no they didn't! Ireland said all they had were #3, 4, and 5 WR's and no #1's Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: mecadonzilla on March 28, 2013, 08:14:58 pm They didn't think they had it covered. I mean, didn't they say on Hard Knocks that they wanted to cut every single receiver? Dunno. Didn't watch a second of that show. Still, it's what they decided was the best possible way to go into the season. They could have addressed the position in some fashion other than Chad Johnson and chose not to, which bit them in the ass all season. I'd still like them to bring in some speed for that position, too. Brandon Gibson has an even slower 40 time than Hartline. This team has lots of route runners, and outside of Wallace, no speed. They have time to address the RB situation, so I'm not too worried...yet. Title: Re: Dolphins Free Agency Rumors Post by: MikeO on April 01, 2013, 06:50:24 am REPORT (aka RUMOR) out that the Fins are talking with Raiders and Browns about trading UP in Rd 1. Milliner or one of the Offensive Tackles are their target
