Title: Bill Parcells looks pretty smart today Post by: Spider-Dan on April 04, 2013, 02:28:03 pm Thinking of last season, we saw three QBs (RG3, Russell Wilson, and Colin Kaepernick) dramatically impact the league with read-option running QB play.
The recent Pat White thread made me realize that Parcells was 3 years ahead of the curve on this. While Pat White ended up sucking, Parcells correctly realized the potential of expanding from the Wildcat (a run-heavy formation with limited passing threat) to a more QB-centric read-option offense. While he still deserves the blame for not properly assessing White's ability, it does seem that he had a good pulse on where the league was headed after seeing the Wildcat in action. We never saw White used for this purpose. He just got concussed.
