At this time, he is not a suspect, but apparently he knew the guy who was killed.  This is a little too close for comfort if you're a Pats fan.

It's been a tough off-season for the Patriots.

- Tebow's arrival.
- Gronk's injuries.
- Hernandez' legal problems?

It will be interesting to see if any/all of this has an effect on their season.

One of these four doesn't belong.  Tebow is good football player, maybe not a great QB, but he could help mitigate the other three by playing TE.

Well none of these things may turn out badly for NE, but all of them have that potential in my humble opinion.

Reports are coming out that Hernandez's vehicle is being followed by air patrol choppers and a warrant for his arrest will soon be issued.

Hernandez destroyed his phone, home security system and video surveillance AND he had his house scrubbed from top to bottom.  Comes off as actions of a guilty man. I don't see him playing in 2013 at this point. This is gonna take a while to sort out

With Hernandez' legal issues and Gronk's ongoing forearm/infection/back problems, New England's vaunted 2-TE set, arguably the best tandem in the NFL, could disappear like a mustard fart in a stiff wind. And, since Miami in recent years has had some difficulties in limiting opposing TE production, that could certainly help them in their head to head match-ups this season.

I wouldn't want to call him guilty just yet, but he does seem to be following the Ray Lewis "How to Cover up a Murder" playbook.

I don't know if he is guilty or not. But his actions are creating a perception that he is guilty of something. And I don't see him playing this upcoming year as of today and the current news that is out there. I think he is going to be tied up in a long legal process that will be consuming most of his time.

Wow.  This guy is really starting to show his true colors.  I'm reading reports of NFL execs saying he was not on their draft boards because he has gang affiliations.

He had late 1st round/early 2nd round talent, but fell to the fourth because of the "red flags"  Everyone knew NE was taking a chance with this guy.  For a while it was looking like that risk paid off.

His alarm went off and he couldn't shut it off so he called ADT and tried to get them to turn it off.  They couldn't help and the beeping made him mad so he crushed the phone out of fury and then punched the panel to the security system to make it stop beeping.  In his anger and punching, he split his hand open pretty bad and ended up bleeding profusely.  On his way to the bathroom to get a bandaid, he dripped blood on his floor and needed to call a cleaning company to come clean up the mess.  Cause he's Aaron Hernandez and he's too good to mop a floor.

I have been sitting at work since 7am just watching the feed of the camera set up in front of his house.  Cops keep going in and out all day, they even had a locksmith there for an hour....wonder what he was trying to break into.  Haven't seen Hernandez at all.  It's pretty funny.

NE is willing to take a roll of the dice on questionable character particularly if the cost is low (late round draft pick) and the upside is high.  Some workout, some don't.

Hernandez was taken into police custody this morning.  Led out of his house in handcuffs for all the world to see.

Police don't arrest people for fun.  They must have something on him.

Sure they can.  If someone claims him off waivers they assumethe remainder of his contract. If he clears waivers then any team can sign him for the vveteran minimum or more.  But I agree that at this stage, no one would want him

If they don't have to pay him that the cap hit goes away.  If they do pay him it they take the hit.

Update.  Hernandez has been charged with murder as well as five gun related charges.  The judge has denied bail at this point

There is a difference between deciding not to hang with someone based on their behavior or choice of friends, and having specific knowledge of crimes committed or attempted.

Some of these NFL guys are idiots to dick away a good life they way they do.

And they warn against a lot of things at the rookie symposium. One of which is being extremely careful who you hang out with.

How does a (alleged) serial murderer get through an NFL interview?  Are the Patriots blind, or do they just not care?

You just have to know what questions to ask if you want him on the team.

First off Ireland was crucified for asking if a player's mother was a hooker, how do you think it would go over if the Patriots asked someone "How many people have you killed?".

Secondly, even if the Patriots did decide to ask that question, you honestly think that Hernandez would answer it honestly?

I am laughing but there is a difference between asking if your Mom was a hooker or if you are a killer.But What are they going to do have everyone in the nfl take a test to see if they are a sociopath. He was a skilled player who got a job. end of it.Nfl teams are not accountable for what they do off the field.

I don't expect Bellichick to roll up in an interview and say "so, how many people have you murdered, son?"

But, he was implicated in at least one homicidal crime during his UF tenure.  Shouldn't that be enough to want to kinda shy away from the guy?  It shows the kind of people he hangs with.  If you get into that kind of trouble in college, imagine what you do with a 40 million dollar bank account.
