Title: ESPN Eliminator Game
Post by: Sunstroke on August 01, 2013, 12:57:40 am

The Eliminator game for this NFL season has been posted on ESPN. If you're one of the 20 that were in it last year, it will give you the option to rejoin the TDMMC group after you create your entry. For any new gamers, just use the group find function and search for "TDMMC."

I like this.  I'm in.  I believe I won last year.  ...or came very close.

You made it a week further on your initial push...you got to week 7 before your first loss. You finished at 15-2 for the season, a game away from the top.

(There's a history link for the game)

Oh ok.  I always played this like survivor. ....lose once and you're out.  I didn't really count it for the whole season-long standing.

I stopped caring after my first loss.  It is called Eliminator.  I had no clue that you keep going even if you lose.

An interesting comment, given the fact that you lost in week 2 and week 6, yet had picks submitted through the end of the season, finishing tied with Dave for 2nd. Apparently you weren't as clueless in that regard as you imagined.

^ It allowed you to pre-pick the entire season, though.

That is true, but my point was that the group winner is the one who finishes the season with the most correct weekly picks. The only thing you're eliminated from when you take your first loss is the ability to win the overall prize.

I made all my picks in week 1 with the thought that I would adjust along the way.  Because you can only use each team once, I planned ahead and made all my picks ahead of time.  I will likely do the same this year.

Yet somehow I still ended up finishing 2nd last year.

Is anyone planning on doing the Gridiron Challenge that I dominated last season as well!!!!!  ;)

I do all ESPN games* on principle...I already have my Gridiron Challenge entry set up and ready to roll. If there isn't enough interest to get a TDMMC group going, just let me know, and I'll get you into the ESPN TOP 50 group for this game.

^^^Thanks I see you and I are the only ones in the TDMMC group right now. If that doesn't change I will join you in the Top 50.

Personally, I didn't care for the Gridiron Challenge format so I probably won't do it again.

Get in now.  Seriously, if you've never played before, it's easy and fun and free.

...And don't forget to play it out for the whole season. The game doesn't end when you get your first loss.

Personally, I didn't care for the Gridiron Challenge format so I probably won't do it again.

I just noticed they changed the Gridiron Challenge format to adjust for the problems everyone complained about.  Now it's a floating salary cap, so if you pick a player that goes up in value you can drop him and keep the extra salary amount to transfer to the new guy.  This solves the bye week problem also.

They also have a second format you can opt for, like the eliminator challenge, where you can only use a player for one week, so if you used Peyton Manning in week #1, then you can't use him again the rest of the season.

^^ OH! that makes a world of difference!

I made all my Eliminator picks for the entire season.  I feel like I'm going to finish undefeated.

I wish I'd known this a week ago.  I specifically didn't join again this year, because I didn't like the rules from last time.

Same here.  Now, we're a week behind and there's no point.

Not too late, a couple good weeks and you could be in the mix.  Everyone seems to have a couple weeks were they do crappy.

HUH??  I only see two incorrect answers, with two people with games not yet finished.

Oh.  It looked like they had forgotten to make picks.  From what I read, that counts as a loss

^ Maybe they forgot to make picks.  But even if they did, they can still pick the MNF game right up until kickoff, if I'm not mistaken.

Off to a nice consistent start in the Gridiron Challenge game, 158 pts, 151 pts and 158 pts the first three weeks.

Well, I'm the last without a loss for the Eliminator Challenge, which is good because I absolutely suck at picking players for the Gridiron Challenge.

A lot of people picked up a loss yesterday.  Obviously New Orleans was not the way forward

Considering I picked the entire season before week 1, I think having 8 of 9 is pretty damn good.

I'd agree.  I usually pick about three games at a time, then even make some changes depending on injuries or how teams are playing.

The Aaron Rodgers injury killed my chances with GB last night. This last half of the year will be tough I have used up most of the good teams. No sure things any week here on out

I'm in much the same boat. Rodgers' injury screwed my last pick and I've used most of the good teams.

My Eliminator is a wash, but I am in legitimate contention for the overall prize (the $2,000 Best Buy gift certificate) in the Gridiron Challenge game. I am sitting at 100% and #27 on the overall leaderboard at the moment. I was up to #14 earlier today. I am a mere 57 points off the top entry with 7 weeks to go.

Even though it isn't a TDMMC group game, I am also sitting at #62 on the College Football Rank'em game's overall leaderboard (also a $2,000 Best Buy gift certificate prize) with 4 weeks left in that game.

Knocking on wood...

^^^ If I do, I'll become the third member of the ESPN TOP 50 group to win the overall prize in a cat B or C game. Frank won it for the Hockey Challenge game they had a couple of years ago, and the "Michael Jordan of Fantasy," Andrew Lee has won 3 or 4 different games.

Still a long way to go...no counting my chickens with a hatchet.

Well, that was an impressive round for the TDMMC crowd. 9 of 11 still making bids got it wrong this past round. Texans, Lions, Chiefs, Redskins, Bears... all losers.

I've made my picks for the rest of the season and am not pound attention anymore.  The Jets upsetting the Saints then the Jags upsetting the Titans did me in
