Title: The No Fun League does it again - spinning football = penalty
Post by: Tenshot13 on August 06, 2013, 12:07:44 am
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/05/officials-warn-players-spinning-the-ball-can-result-in-a-penalty/

So apparently, in certain situations, spinning the football in celebration can result in a 15 yard penalty. You know certain refs are going to abuse this rule. Are you fucking kidding me?  The NFL is pissing me off more and more these days.

Never thought I'd be that old man. But I frickin' miss the NFL I grew up watching.  :'(

Soon there will be:

- no kickoffs
- helmets the size of Mark Kelso's
- no tackling of the QB,  to record a sack, you must pull one of his flags
- all D Lineman must count to 10 Mississippi before rushing the QB
- if a WR or RB gets ahead of you by 10 yds. you must stop and let him run
- a game every day of the GD week

Once again the pussification of the league has gone to a whole new level

I must agree on all points.  This is getting ridiculous.

I bet 50% of the people that read this don't understand T-god's Mark Kelso reference.

Why don't they just adopt the NBA's technical foul policies?

I'm over 30. I remember Kelso's dome piece.

Read the article, it gets worse:

"These acts include but are not limited to: sack dances; home run swing; incredible hulk; spiking the ball; throwing or shoving the ball; pointing; pointing the ball; verbal taunting; military salute; standing over an opponent (prolonged and with provocation; or dancing."

I'm going to barf.

I'm going to play the Devil's Advocate here just a bit. While I do have some concern this could be taken a bit too far, consider the following. This rule was already on the books and I never heard you complain before. Also, who here hasn't been watching a game and seen a player make a routine run or catch resulting in nothing more than a first down (possibly even being down by a couple scores) and seen a guy spin the ball? Every time I do I feel like screaming at the TV.

I'm going to party with the Devil on this one. I don't have any problem with a TD dance or little celebration on a big play, but all the posing, posturing and grandstanding the players do every time they catch a pass, make a tackle or pick their nose does get a little old after a while. I suppose it will depend on how stringently they enforce the rule going forward...
