that didn't take long, already upset he only got 1 reception today. Wallace was so upset that Ireland had to walk him out of the lockeroom it is now being reported Title: Re: Mike Wallace didn't want to speak to the media Post by: Landshark on September 08, 2013, 06:04:27 pm Another Brandon Marshall?
Title: Re: Mike Wallace didn't want to speak to the media Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 08, 2013, 06:30:50 pm Oh geez, that's not good. Maybe if he got OPEN like Hartline did, he would have more passes thrown his way.

Maybe if he got OPEN like Hartline did, he would have more passes thrown his way. Wallace is the reason Hartline and Gibson were open all day. He draws double coverage and leaves everyone else wide open!! Yes he only had 1 catch....but his just being on the field opens everyone else up!! Title: Re: Mike Wallace didn't want to speak to the media Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 08, 2013, 06:49:50 pm I agree with that, he took the attention of Cleveland's #1 corner. That made it easier for everyone else. Most people understand is except for Wallace himself. He wasn't open so he wasn't thrown to. It's that simple.

That made it easier for everyone else. Most people understand is except for Wallace himself. He wasn't open so he wasn't thrown to. It's that simple. Because Wallace was saying he would burn Haden and it didn't happen. He's embarrassed. Title: Re: Mike Wallace didn't want to speak to the media Post by: yuppi on September 08, 2013, 08:36:47 pm Tannehill under threw Wallace all day. Nevertheless Wallace mere presence allowed Hartline and Gibson to have a field day underneath. And that was with a none existent running game.
Title: Re: Mike Wallace didn't want to speak to the media Post by: Pappy13 on September 08, 2013, 09:15:18 pm Wallace should be upset...with himself. He expects to do better. I expect him to do better as well and I think he will. I'm actually fine with him being upset that he only caught one pass, but he has to channel that anger into improving his play.
Title: Re: Mike Wallace didn't want to speak to the media Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 09, 2013, 12:04:30 am Yeah, don't blame the coach in your first game as a Dolphin, that's terrible.
Title: Mike Wallace upset after quiet Miami Dolphins debut Post by: CF DolFan on September 09, 2013, 09:33:00 am Hopefully this doesn't turn into something major. I think opening night with a new team probably exacerbates the issue ... added pressure wanting to prove you are worth the big money. As a fan I'm perfectly fine with his performance and or game plan.
Like the last line of the article says ... Wallace might be miffed, but the plan worked out just fine against a nasty Browns front seven Sunday Quote Mike Wallace upset after quiet Miami Dolphins debut By Chris Wesseling Around the League Writer http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000240855/article/mike-wallace-upset-after-quiet-miami-dolphins-debut Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace was in no mood to chat after being used as a $60 million decoy in Sunday's 23-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Wallace got his wish in drawing Joe Haden as a shadow corner; he promptly was limited to 15 yards on one reception. "I don't want to talk. I don't feel like talking about it," Wallace said, via The Palm Beach Post. "Ask Coach. It's not my game plan." The extra attention paid to Wallace freed up Miami receivers Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson for a combined 16 receptions and 191 yards. It's still surprising that Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman failed to call a screen or a slant to get the ball in his best playmaker's hands. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill attributed Wallace's meager output to double coverage that caused him to look elsewhere in his progressions. "I've been there playing receiver back in the day when the defense takes you away and it's frustrating," said Tannehill, a receiver early in his Texas A&M days. "But by them taking him away, it really opened up Gibson and Hartline to make plays." That's the key. The Dolphins were counting on Wallace's ability to draw extra defensive attention when they shelled out the big bucks in March. Wallace might be miffed, but the plan worked out just fine against a nasty Browns front seven Sunday Title: Re: Mike Wallace upset after quiet Miami Dolphins debut Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on September 09, 2013, 12:18:59 pm Compare: Dez Bryant who said he has no problem with limited catches if drawing double coverage opens up his teammates.

Um, yeah I guess he was just pissed at the Gatorade? I know he was upset about hurting his ankle, but I think he was more than a bit frustrated as well.http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sbnation/SBNation_20130908_Dez_Bryant_takes_out_frustration_on_Gatorade_cart_after_injury.html Title: Re: Mike Wallace upset after quiet Miami Dolphins debut Post by: masterfins on September 09, 2013, 06:40:54 pm I gotta believe the Browns also had a feel for what Wallace's moves are, given they would see him twice a year when he was with the Steelers. Let's hope he has more success getting open against AFC East opponents that have not physically played against him as often.
Title: Re: Mike Wallace upset after quiet Miami Dolphins debut Post by: fyo on September 09, 2013, 06:59:55 pm Wallace issued a "clarification", stating that he was just mad at himself for not playing well.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9655382/mike-wallace-miami-dolphins-clears-air-comments The real problem seems to be that Wallace gets knocked off his line too easily, messing up the (already poorly-synced) timing with Tannehill. I expect it'll get better -- a lot if Tannehill can get a feel for when Wallace will let defenders push him off the line. |
