Looks like the head coach and the defensive coordinatior stepped down after attending a party and smoking pot.  How ironic it would be if they end up inside a GEO Group owned prison.

I changed the title of this thread.  Apparently some idiot mod decided he didn't like the idea of the FAU sells its stadium naming rights thread being bumped and created a new thread with a title that had nothing to do with the situation.  The coach resigning because of pot smoking doesn't mean the team is in trouble

More like its an idiot move to bump an 8 month old thread about naming a stadium to discuss the coach resigning.  Because that thread title was SO MUCH MORE appropriate.  They have nothing to do with each other.  That's the true idiot move.  Stop gravedigging and go grade some papers.

Actually the two are quite similar.  The school sells its naming rights to a prison group, then two of the coaches get caught doing stuff that can get you thrown in prison.  It works cause a ton of shits and giggles if they ended up in a prison owned by that prison group.   Talk about wackiness on all levels.

^^^Smoking a joint does not send you to prison. I agree the thread bump was unnecessary. Our goal here is to create new conversation not stretch to pull old ones back in.

In my opinion, absolutely.  Alabama is the heart of the Bible Belt and they hold people in high positions to strict standards. 

Never.  No chance.  Nick Saban brings millions of dollars to the University.  He could probably murder someone and their AD would find a way to cover it up.

It was a rhetorical question.  No chance Saban is canned.  No way.

You are more likely to get fired for smoking pot if your team is 2-6 than than if you are 8-0. 

^ Absolutely.  And I'm fine with that.  I was kind of just making a throwaway comment to be clever when it was met with a dispute.

FAU probably had no real tie to the coach and it would hurt recruiting, so they canned him.

No Brian but I live up in these parts.  You don't.  People up here hold people in high positions to high standards. 

When did you move from the keys to Alabama?

Panama City (where Gulf Coast "Community" College is located) is in the panhandle.

I live in the Florida Panhandle and I'm just a short drive to the Alabama state line.  The Keys is where my vacation home is.


Its now officially Gulf Coast State College because they offer four year degrees in certain programs.  A lot of the veteran staff still refer to it as a community college.

Not that it really matters but turns out it was marijuana and cocaine.

Actually I think that matters a great deal.

Weed, though illegal (kinda) is no big deal, depending on whether he was doing it with students.  Coke is a whole different ballgame.
