Title: Have a feeling that Bullygate is almost over.
Post by: Pappy13 on November 09, 2013, 08:37:28 pm
This all comes down to Monday night now for me. If the Dolphins go out and take care of business, this story is quickly going to lose steam. If they lose it will have a lingering effect. Looking for the Dolphins players to take out some frustrations on the Bucs.

Look for Tannehill to get crushed with his makeshift Oline and Wallace to continue his awful season as he visits Revis Island. I'm not sure a loss makes the story any different or worse, but I expect a loss nonetheless. -EK

The same o-line we used vs Cincy that didn't get him crushed vs an excellent D-line/defense. Martin was out vs Cincy and Richie left the game early injured.

Not like Martin and Richie is losing Webb/Simms in their prime. Both guys are easily replaceable.

He was still sacked three times and hurried frequently. Citing a game in which the defense scored almost as much as the inept offense isn't exactly stellar fuel for your argument. -EK

I will take 3 sacks opposed to the 6 and 7 sacks we were giving up most games with Incognito/Martin

With Martin scheduled to speak this week, this story is far from over.

Miami wasn't giving up 6 or 7 most games. They've allowed 32 sacks in their other 7 games. 4.5 a game. Now that you've got 2 new linemen and one of the assistant Oline coaches has quit, perhaps they will give up that many. Or maybe the new guys will hold their line meetings at strip clubs like incognito did. You know, promote more team unity, while making it rain. Been a winning formula so far.  ::) -EK

As you stated you don't care about "character" guys, or guys with multiple suspensions, or "squeaky clean Beaver Cleaver" guys and are OK with if they aren't saints off the field and have no problem taking guys with suspensions. But now you have problems if they hold meetings at strip clubs. Hmm, interesting logic ya got there

I get that some o you guys want a squeaky clean Beaver Cleaver bunch of guys on the field and hated Marshall for his antics while he was there. If that's the route Miami goes, passing over talent because they're not saints off the field, be ready for more of the same as they've had since Marino retired. How many "character" guys have they passed on who became outstanding players? At this point I will take a Superbowl and guys with multiple suspensions over 50s sitcom family and another 6-7 win season. -EK

I agree.  This is something that will not go away quietly unless Martin settles.  And knowing what he's done so far in getting the story out, he probably isn't willing to settle.

I understand that you're grasping for straws and can't possibly just ignore one of my posts, but since you've brought this up twice now and I ignored your first one, I guess I'll respond. Instead of taking my posts out of context, why don't you look at the whole thing? Character guys don't mean squat if you can't even play .500 ball. My post was pretty clear in saying that they should look at TALENTED players who will help them win. I haven't changed positions- Miami has poor character players AND they still suck. That's NOT what I was promoting. -EK

Yup, the earliest it ends is a few weeks after the NFL investigation ends.

And then maybe not then.

Lets say Dolphins cut both Martin and Incognito.  Martin goes to NE, Incognito to the Jets.  Twice year we hear about the rivalry.

Its over already because people are sick of hearing it.  No one cares about this story anymore, so the desire of the media to keep beating the dead horse is waning.

I agree. If Miami takes care of business tonight this story will fade into the background. It's run it's course. It will resurface again possibly when the NFL's investigation concludes but I doubt we'll hear anything about it for awhile.

It's gonna be like the Penn St story or the Syracuse story. The season is going on, the games are played....but this story will be brought up every game, every broadcast, and will be a black cloud hanging over the season till the end of the season. This investigation will go on a while it isn't going to be over in a week.

Yeah the story will show up around Miami, but it won't be the top story on ESPN every day. Big difference. Anybody who's not a Dolphin fan won't be hearing much about it.

Another plaer (this one in college) saying they were "bullied" too and want action taken. I expect to see a lot of "bullying" stories come out now

If the NFL buys off Martin it will be a drop in the bucket. Almost every NFL player could probably claim bullying to some extent which would also trickle down to other leagues. I've been saying this.
